  • While I was posting yesterday, I noticed my iPad slowing down so I posted what I’d written then came back to do the second half. I had it written up when it crashed. So, fri I went to a nearby supermarket that has a butchery counter stocked by a good local butcher. They do various package deals and I got a £20 one. In this, I got the gammon that will be part of our Christmas feast as the roast. I also got the pound of mince that will be frozen and used to make the stuffing, a pound and a half of frying steak that is tonight’s dinner with left overs for lunches, 5 chicken breast fillets packaged in a 2 and a 3 and 2 separate pounds of the specialty caramelised onion pork sausages that would be my choice of sausage. The gammon was price marked at £11 so I’m more than happy with that.
The starters are more or less here and I’m probably a third of the way towards the main. Dessert will be a last minute fairly cheap purchase as dd insists on a trifle.

Yesterday I went to the Saturday market and finished shopping for dh that had previously already been finished! I picked up some bacon potato bread that is freezer bound(apart from the quality control piece that was taste tested this morning) I also purchased a tv for the kitchen from Argos that is to be collected today. I got cash back on the purchase though I’m not sure how much. I bought a tv / dvd combo with free view, a bracket and aerial and due to offers and promotions, I had change from £130. Our kitchen is the warmest room in the house and we only have a tv in the very draughty living room. I have been given Christmas money so only needed to come up with £30.

Yesterday evening I turned off the mindless drivel I frequently watch and instead called a friend I’ve been meaning to catch up with. Monday and Tuesday I am lunching with 2 friends. Monday will be very cheap and cheerful. I’m trying to start that ny resolution early to make more of an effort with people I like. We aren’t here for a long time so why not spend some of it with nice people.

Today I have a ton of stuff to get done but noone’s Going to die in a ditch if it doesn’t all happen.
    Today I am grateful for
Starting to feel a bit more in control
Finding the one box of chocolates that my nephew who has quite bad autism expects me to produce even though Thornton’s didn’t have them in stock
    Hope

  • I really like what you said about spending more time with nice people :).

You sound like you've got loads done :T. This is such a hectic time of year, it's good to get on top of some things.

  • It’s t(e large Thornton’s mint assortment Beanie. We stumbled across them in Sainsbury’s. For anyone else I’d just buy an alternative but for this nephew, it’s all about consistency.
So, I issued an invoice last night and got three work things off my desk. I finished the deep clean of my bedroom and started the Christmas decorations. We had fajitas for dinner made from the frying steak with added mushroom, onion and carrot. Left overs are being boxed up as we speak for DH’s lunch. The tv was collected, the aerial plugged in and it works. I am so excited. I used to have a kitchen tv many years ago but it’s been gone at least 10 years. It’s not that I watch much but I’m hopeful this will get me out of the 7.30 sofa slump each evening.

Today I am meeting the potential new client who may have a small job for me in March. They operate in an area that could give me greater exposure which is good. Then I’m meeting my friend for lunch. I just need to figure out parking, etc. Then I’m at that client this afternoon but I’m capping my time with them to 21 hours per week and 7 of those will be delivered on Friday. Can people just remind me of this when I start to whinge?

    Today I am grateful for
Having avoided the weekend take away temptations
A clean bedroom to sleep in
Clarity starting to creep in not least about my priorities.

I hope you get the job for March.
Enjoy the kitchen TV. Sounds like a good deal.

My mum has been looking for those mints for a while & there seems to be none to be had of them either.
