Well, where did yesterday go? Beyond waiting for journey progress reports, I’m not too sure. Both babies! are home. The dog was so so excited that you would not believe. These two are her fun people. DS is battling a lurgy. He doesn’t understand that working full time, studying and partying come at a price.
So vast quantities of cash have been spent. This is when I tend to shop at market stalls and small independents so actual money leaves my hands. From yesterday’s market I got the amazing bacon and potato bread, a hot apple juice with cinnamon to sip while wandering and hopefully healthier than a dose of caffeine, apples to be turned into 8 apple loaves. These come from a local grower and are cheaper than the supermarket. I found the perfect Christmas card for dh. I went to a deli and picked up the cheese apparently needed by us along with 3 cheese selections as gifts.
Ours is a locally produced blue, black bomber, cranberry Wensleydale, caramelised onion cheddar and mull of kintyre cheddar. The melting cheeses were already in the fridge. I also managed to find 2 small bottles of lemon fangs for mother’s gift. She likes the flavour but big bottles go flat before she can consume.
Yesterday was the last day of the Christmas market in the city hall grounds. Dh and I took advantage of dc being home so one ran us into town and picked us up while the other dog sat. We got there around half four and it was closing at six. We acquired some half price focaccia, beloved by ds, which is now clingfilmed and awaiting freezer related decisions.
We also managed to visit another small retailer and get some chocolate coated hazelnuts. I have no idea why but hazelnuts are an essential for me at Christmas. I could live without turkey or cheese but need jellytots and hazelnuts.
Today I am grateful for
The safe return of my family.

Today I am hunter gatherer. I’m off to get a turkey, goose fat and various other bits and pieces. I will also be delivering some home made goodies. I could be annoyed at the friend who asked me to buy stuff and then didn’t pick it up leaving me to do a 40 mile round trip but hey, life’s too short!
So, today I must remember to fill the car and to withdraw cash. Have I ever mentioned that I don’t trust technology over holidays?
Today I am so grateful for
All the wonderful support and friendship here

I love bread sauce at Christmas too, it's the only time of year that we have it. Your cheeses also sound nice. I'm puzzled by lemon fangs though :rotfl:.
