Good result on the project and the £400!:j

Re appearance - you've had a lot on your plate lately so I wouldn't beat yourself up with this. You're back on the right track now. I don't know if you ever read flylady's comment that she once had a home telephone sales job. Her employer was adamant that before she could make any calls she had to be dressed neatly with hair and make up done - even though she was at home! She said it did make all the difference to how she did her job - made her feel more professional and had a positive effect when she was on the phone!

I hope you raised a formal complaint about the covert recordings - that's hugely unethical. And I think you should have a private conversation with the trustees (asking them to empty their pockets first!) about the individual concerned, pointing out that covert recording is indicative of the overall problem, and that kind of behaviour is going to cause problems with anyone who takes over from you (or anyone else who has to work with her).

  • Yesterday went quite well. Picked up a voicemail from a friend so went ahead and arranged dinner out last night. Only problem is this couple has one half who doesn’t work, no children or family living locally so their weekends are for leisure. By eleven I was making we should leave noises while they were quite happy to sit on. There was a problem with our booking and our table but a move plus a round of complementary drinks sorted that which was good.

Yesterday I had a slight change of hairstyle, got eyebrows done but couldn’t be fitted in for nails. I can do those myself and will. The rot has to stop. I’m dreading my conversation with mr wii!

Work wise, I checked the business account and noticed a payment has been made early which is good. I paid the last of my insurance for the year and I issued an invoice. Today I need to briefly nip into the nightmare but will make sure that she isn’t there when I do.

I also did shops for specific items in Iceland and the local co op. I was able to get whoopsieed wee oranges in the co op where I also got a dividend on the cost of them.

Tonight we are at def leppard with friends. This was booked some time ago and will hopefully be good. Apart from that there’s one invoice, a proposal and an assignment plan needed along with the usual laundry, etc. Then Dublin tomorrow.

    Today I am grateful for
Advice and support on here and from rl friends

Enjoy the make overs - appearance can definitely boost the old confidence - I need to remind myself of that often..... wish I had a job where I could dress to impress and not end up covered in play dough, paint, snot’n- all sorts of unmentionables

  • Self care takes time and is hard when you're busy, but you'll feel much better for the haircut etc. Try and fit the colour in when you can as that will also make you feel good :).

I hope nightmare client will suitably deal with toxic employee!

If you weren't a force to be reckoned with, the toxic person wouldn't have gone to the trouble to be sneaky. As it is, you're going to be going to work looking good and knowing you have support both in real life and here.

Don't worry about Mr Wii - he doesn't know everything. :) You'll soon sort out any changes once this week is over.

Great to hear the financial positives, too :)

  • Well, the trip to the client and the laundry got done. I started to tackle our bedroom too. Some small progress there. I went to the concert. As usual, the sound quality was poor. Also to get parking, we went over early to get a meal that was neither cheap nor cheerful. I like my burger well done but this could have been used if the ice hockey played nearby ever runs out of a puck. They were out of pizza bases and apparently had also ran out of vinegar! One waiter asked if we would like our bill while we were waiting for our food.
So, while I’m in Dublin I intend to drop in a bag for repair that had the zip broken in transit on return from our last holiday. This will only work if it can be ready for Wednesday when I’m back down. It’s one of a set of three so fingers crossed that it can be fixed.
Is it just me or do other people also go weeks without social engagements and then have 2 or 3 in a row that leaves them feeling shattered?

    Today I am grateful for
Relatively good weather for my drive
Earmarking an item to go elsewhere where it’s wanted
Progress albeit a long way from perfection
