I'm amazed you gave them a week. If they've been making covert recordings I'd suggest that the relationship has completely broken down and you should get out and leave them to sort things out themselves.

I'd agree with this, it stinks how they've treated you!

Is that legal?! If there is any personal information involved, does GDPR apply?

I found this article which suggests persistently recording someone could amount to harassment.

  • It does sound very unethical! I wonder who authorised the covert recordings and why?

I understood you to mean the problem staff member. It does sound as if they are on dodgy ground to me. Also, did this staff member use the company's time and resources to do this for his/her own ends, and did they have permission?

  • I haven’t heard any of the stuff that is allegedly held. I’m giving the week and just doing my best not to engage. In a way I’m glad it came to a head. At least now I can defend myself.

More positive news is that dh and I got a project over the line yesterday. Such a relief! There’s work to be done this weekend but mainly for other clients. I nipped to Sainsbury’s last night as I needed to make a purchase to take advantage of a nectar offer. So, fruit juice has been bought for the Christmas stash along with on offer prosciutto, etc. I spent around £20, got an additional £6.50 in nectar points and only bought items that were on offer that I would otherwise be buying anyway.

I have once again fallen behind on my invoicing but had good news about £400 that I didn’t think I would see again. Next week I am in Dublin mon and Wednesday. This is the month when I will find out about the wee Dublin job to be delivered over 3 years. Just a few days each year but a guaranteed income source which would be great.

On Thursday dd had car problems and called me to help. Did I mention she’s now in England? I gave the advice I considered appropriate and tried to follow up with her afterwards. I subsequently found out, when I got hold of her brother after 7, that she had left her phone behind while at work. Meanwhile my mind had her dead and buried!

This afternoon I am going for a haircut. I need a colour but the hairdresser can’t fit that in. I have been comfort eating like a piglet which is not good. Yesterday I had a meeting with someone I have previously dealt with and they just passed a comment about how this assignment is clearly taking it out of me. I looked in the lift mirror on the way down and it was a wake up call. My hair is a mess, no makeup, dressed for comfort as opposed to work so realised that this needs to be addressed before next week’s meetings. I look more like a bag lady than like someone who can deliver a credible message. His comment was meant kindly and I’m so glad it was made. I’m gonna ask if they can squeeze in an eyebrow tint and file and polish too. I’ve been silly enough to think I can’t afford the time and money but the reality is that I can’t afford not to spend it.

    Today I am grateful for
An inadvertent wake up call that came from kind words
A slight lie in courtesy of the dog
Reassurance about my work abilities from an informed person
