  • It is Friday. My plans for the weekend include two invoices, drafting a terms of reference, a trip to the market and large quantities of sleep!

Got away from that client around 4.15 yesterday. I'd also had a break for an hour and a half mid morning to see another client. I was than back at 8.30 and away around 11. There are matters ongoing that I am concerned about. I am back there today and it'll be after 9 before I get home this evening.
On the plus side, they have paid the invoice I issued on mon or Tuesday.
Between client visits, I managed to get the kitchen finished which should give us a bit more time this weekend. It's now less than 5 weeks to the big ho ho ho so effort is needed. I wish we could get the kitchen walls sorted before that but accept that it won't be happening. After all the dampness related work last January and the moving of the boiler, there is still salt seeping out of the walls and the paint is disintegrating.
Between now and Christmas, I am determined to get a list made of the jobs that need to be done so that 2019 isn't all about drifting while tolerating and not being happy. I've accepted that DH just doesn't notice so visible reminders are needed. Some of these things are just new lightbulb on outside light while others require some re plastering, etc. I don't understand how he can be oblivious to a lack of light but he truly can!
    Today I am grateful for
    Tea and toast
Remembering to buy milk (see above)
A Black Friday offer on tickets to a concert that I could not have paid full price to see. The best bit that it's this Sunday

  • So, Friday was a late one as expected. However took a call from someone I’ve worked with in the past. We have set up a meeting in Dublin on 05 December which should be good. It also means that my catch up with a friend or two has the travel costs covered. I can also go to the consignment store and cash out for the 2 items sold.

Yesterday we went to the market and bought some nice basic foods. We went to the Christmas market and bought nothing. Between both venues I did however identify some items that I would not be averse to receiving. Plus, joy or joys, we got a new iPad and, even better, they allowed us £25 on the old one and honoured our shopping centre voucher. So it came in at a cost to us of less than £200 paid for by dh. And, the trade in means that we didn’t add to stuff at home!
We also got a £40 apple gift card as a Black Friday promotion.
Ours was so old that there are lots of changes to get used to but despite being a tad smaller, it still fits our case. Today’s tv survey has already been completed.
I slept badly last night. The dog was up early this morning and I am tired. Breakfast however was some bacon potato bread sourced from the market. It’s amazing! We are at the concert this evening and yesterday picked up bacon ribs from the butcher so that will be tonight’s dinner before we go. They will be served naked or with the £5 home made cider and bbq sauce also picked up yesterday.
I still have invoices to do, work to do and house stuff but I’m great at turning a blind eye to that. I have 2 invoices to pay and then that is hopefully all my one off business spends until the start of the new business year. From here on, apart from expenses and allowable overheads, everything that comes in is profit! Yay!
Also, I weighed myself this morning. 3 of the 4 pounds that went on last week have gone and my bmi has gone down to the next number. That leaves me needing to lose 8lbs between now and NY. I’m not sure it’ll happen but if I try for it, any progress has to be good.
    Today I am grateful for
    As crummy breakfast
    A good rugby result
    Continuing if faltering babysteps

    Breakfast sounded interesting.
Love the bargain I pad. Dh had to pay full price for mine on my birthday.

  • I am beyond tired. I cannot stop yawning. Concert was good but we didn’t get home until after eleven and then there was a requirement for doggy time followed by my usual disturbed sleep. Today the 4 legged one did not waken until we were up and about. Why can’t she do that at weekends?

So, ds had called on fri while I was working for apparently no reason in particular. I called him Saturday but he was otherwise engaged watching rugby. He called back yesterday as we were heading out. He’s moving from one rental to another and can he please have a short term loan to deal with the gap between when the new deposit gets paid and the old one gets refunded? On one hand I’m glad he comes to us rather than going into debt however, his father who is in a secure job is never his first port of call. It’s infuriating. Also, ds does not make provision for anything other than his monthly bills. Apparently the rent in this new place will be £350 less per month. Tonight when I’ve time, there will be a discussion about saving and an emergency fund.

    Today I am grateful for
    My bed
My ability to help out ds
    Tea

  • You are a busy lady.

It is good that your DS comes to you for support, hope the conversation about the EF goes well with him.

My DS is exactly the same.
I think hell would freeze over before he would ask him.
His dad is though much better off than me.
