What a surprise. Backs the all powerful unions into a corner as well. Mrs M has a clearly thought through strategy.

And there was me think it was the traditional Conservative cut and run strategy just before things get so band that taxes rise and the policy chickens on the NHS and education come home to roost.

Realistically I agree that Corbyn is finished and will probably end up leading a very big protest movement into oblivion. Meanwhile all those who believe in centre left policies will have watch the re-emergence of the nasty party.

Hi Bob, that articles rather old.

If you're having problems with your Finances, I believe the DFW Forum is a very good source of information.

You really think you are funny don't you?

!!!!!! do you expect them to do?

Easy. Either accept the result of the referendum gracefully, or admit that you are only interested in "democracy" when it delivers the result you want.

The fact is all the sore losers on the Remain side (which seems to be the overwhelming majority of them) made a huge song & dance about their liberal ideals pre-referendum & have demonstrated themselves to be the worst kind of hypocritical fascists since they lost it. The majority of them would gladly enforce a remain vote on the majority of the population if it was in their power to do so.

Budget deficit is very much alive and well. Sound financial management is required for the foreseeable future. Everybody wants more money for something. Trouble is no one wants to pay the bill. Tough choices to make for the electorate. Politicians bearing gifts simply aren't worth trusting.

The likely outcome is that the tories will have significantly more centre-right MPs and therefore be less reliant on those further to the right.

So maybe it's a little bit nastier than you'd like, but a damn sight better than the alternative.
  • Everything he is now saying and doing makes sense if you consider it's all about that. Why else would he be campaigning in Scotland, where there is at most one Labour seat to be saved? Answer: because he's getting out in front of the leadership contest electorate, the party members, who gave him 60% support last time.

Sorry, not to be pedantic. But Scottish Labour members voted for Owen Smith in the leadership for Labour. The party is still pining for another Blair up here. Neither Dugdale nor Ian Murray ( the 1 Scottish MP ) support Corbyn by a long chalk.

Though they're both now frantically back pedalling on everything they've said about him now there's an election afoot. ;)
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

Strange that Gina isn't standing as a candidate given her heartfelt belief in the democratic process....

Not everyone wants to be an MP. Some people have other options.

They accept it every bit as much as Leavers respected the 1975 referendum and that's just as it should be,

!!!!!! do you expect them to do? I think Brexit is a very stupid idea and will continue to argue against it. I accept the result of the referendum and fully expect Brexit to happen but if I can persuade enough people that they have made a mistake then Brexit won't happen or maybe the UK will rejoin the EU.

It is my right to hold and express a different opinion to the majority in the UK and I will be damned if I'm going to be silenced.

    Well said.

Absolutely nobody is suggesting a rerun of the referendum.
But do tell me why all of the sudden 'remainers' should stop campaigning and making the case for something they believe to be in the best interest of the country? Isn't that the whole point of democracy?
For 40+ years we had the right wing Tory fringe, UKIP, the rabid anti-EU tabloids etc...campaigning to undermine the democratic will of the people expressed in the 1975 referendum.
Why can't we do the same? :)

At my age 40+ years may be beyond where my body will take me but I will continue to tell any and everyone that Britain leaving the EU is a vary BAD idea.

Are "UKIP voters" solid voters. What were they before they became "UKIP voters" Did they always vote and who for? Did they become motivated by UKIP to vote and now Britain is leaving the EU there is no longer a need to vote?
