For anyone looking for a Dash Cam, Tesco petrol stations are selling a twin camera one, for £36.
It's the Co-Pilot Dual Mirror Dash Cam.

The things that attracted me to it (I've bought one), is:-
1. The forward camera is built into a rear view mirror, which fastens over the existing rear view mirror, so the camera doesn't obscure any windscreen below the mirror.
2. The rear camera is separate from the front one, meaning it can be mounted in the rear window (or anywhere else you prefer), meaning the vehicle occupants don't have to be on camera all the time.
3. It has shock and motion sensing, so it'll switch itself on, if something causes the car to move, or if something/someone passes in front of the lens.
So far, I've only installed the front camera, as the rear one will need the cabling routing along the length of the car, and I haven't the time right now.
Only just installed it, but a quick trial suggests the video quality (a least on the front camera) is good.

These are brilliant. Get a piggyback fuse from Amazon so you can connect it into the main fusebox and will come on at startup
If we have the same model be aware that they don't auto overwrite so you have to format it every few days.0 -
Does it take a memory card and if so what's capacity vs recording time like please?Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0

For somebody who is utterly clueless, so will need somebody to do it .... how do these things actually get connected up to power? How much is that likely to cost?0

Like my previous one, I just plug in the cigarette lighter plug, when I get in the car.If we have the same model be aware that they don't auto overwrite so you have to format it every few days.
Mine records in clips (it's adjustable for 2, 3 or 5 minutes, or off), so it overwrites automatically, unless set in off mode.Mr.Generous wrote: »Does it take a memory card and if so what's capacity vs recording time like please?
It takes up to a 32GB (I'd have preferred bigger), and I don't know yet, how long it'll record for.
Of course, the recording time is going to depend on the quality setting (1080p or 720p) and whether both cameras are installed.0 -

Only prob with from lighter is the kids dvd that's what the piggyback fuse was for, bout 10 mins to connect. Just unplug any live fuse and add the double one and connect to camera other wire goes to any earth point, loads of places in a car and screw down0

Does the front facing cam in the mirror face far enough to the right?
The previous generations were designed for LHD vehicles and the camera positioned accordingly. When you fit it to a RHD car the cam pointed towards the kerb and wouldnt turn far enough to the right.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
