The Shuffs - you moan all you want. It's what we're here for. What a horrible four weeks you've had. I hope things start looking up for you soon.
(((hugs))) to Redruby.
Well, as I knew she would, my mum has insisted that we still go to see her. She said 'we can't wrap ourselves up in cottonwool and avoid all the germs that surround us.....' so we are definitely going but have decided not to go to the gym together because it will 'lose some of our talking time'! I'll just have to make sure I don't breathe on her.
May call in later if I have time before we go.

A kind of mwah mwah hug to those with the Thread Cold, as I do want to give you a hug but I don't want to catch it.

Off to town in a moment to try and return a jumper to BHS. I bought a few a couple of weeks ago. Tried one of each type in the changing room, then picked up same size same style different colour for a couple of them. Unfortunately, one of them was on the wrong hanger, and I didn't realise until I had put it on yesterday.....after cutting the tag off. Hopefully they'll let me do an exchange.
Am just in the middle of making crumpets, am waiting for the milk to cool (to hand hot) so I can add it to the flour. I'm planning on nipping out while the batter is rising, then I can cook us fresh crumpets with poached eggs when I get home.
WM on, house tidyish. Looks a bit grim outside, so no gardening. It's a shame as we've got a lot of heavy work we'd like to get on with. DH and I have agreed that we need to relocate the vegetable patch, as our new fence will cast a shadow; we're disagreeing on how far forward to move it - surprisingly I want to bring it further forward than he does, even though it will wreck a lovely bit of lawn and mean the rotary washing line will need moving.
Right, milk shoul dbe cool enough to use now, will pop back later and see how everyone is getting on

A cold and soggy morning,
We turned the heating on on Wednesday evening . It seemed silly to be sitting there in the cold and I had a sore throat so we knew it was time.
Much nicer to shower in the warm bathroom in the morning.
I managed to find ovrwintering onion sets in wilkinsons so hopefully will get them planted up this weekend if the weather forecast is correct.
Yesterday we had the zucchini slice that was posted on the daily thread. Sorry can't remember who posted it but it was lovely so thanks for that!
My DD arrived home yesterday at 4pm looking like she had been swimming in all her clothes ,then announced that she needed to pick up her art from school(where she had just been) between 4 and 6pm! Fortunately I hadn't put the dinner in the oven yet LOL so we had to get in the car and go all the way back to fetch it(the traffic is hell between 4 and 6 ). Then when we got there and I was parking she said..'well I hope it is today we are supposed to be fetching it'
She has to go to a church Monday and Tuesday for the yearly 'moral talking to' that the school provides in lieu of R.E. lessons for 6th form. She announced that she didn't know which one it was last night. I fully expect her to have forgotten to ask by this eveningHow can someone so clever be so absent minded:rotfl:
Tonight it is just us girls as OH does his special constabulary night so we will have baked potatoes and liver and bacon (left over from wednesday) with cheese .
all the best

We have decided to drive through France avoiding Motorways and stopping as we feel like, we no real route fixed and nothing booked - hope my French holds up in the more rural areas, a chance in France but my Spanish is much weaker.
I think it is warmer this morning it was feeling warm which woke me up (thought it could just be my age even though I take the tablets!)

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Just got home from the club. The cook wasn't there tonight. There was a couple of volunteers doing the cooking but all the food had run out.
We go there about 6.20pm and the food started at 6pm. I consoled myself with a whisky while glaring at all the people eating.
After about 15 mins the bloke came up and said a couple of take-aways were cancelled and we could eat. There was a choice of roast lamb or pork. I said just the veggies thanks. He said *what*. I told him I was a veggie. With a shocked look he told me I could have my plate for free.
He also threw in some mushroom gravy.
DH & I have just devoured a big piece of cheesecake when we got home. It's not really agreeing with the whiskey's though.
Culpepper It was moi with the recipe. I'm glad to see you're calling it zucchinni slice.
Donnygal Enjoy your time away.
Chalky The time difference is confusing. I'm not that good though.
Kyle I didn't do too bad. I was making DH pack up, putting war paint on and translating your poem. What prize do I get?No, I don't want any of Twinks [STRIKE]hobnobs[/STRIKE] Anzacs. Byeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -

Well i have just returned from the school macmillan coffe morning for which i baked 3 cakes (having all kinds of nightmares) and was horrified to hear some of the mums saying they wouldn't eat the homemade ones as "you don't what the people who baked them are like!" now i assume they were talking about cleanliness etc but i was so upset for myself and the other mums who had gone to so much trouble to make cakes. Well i got myself a big slice of HOMEMADE chocolate cake (which was delicious) and let the others eat their shop bought ones full of hydrogenated fat and god knows what else, and i'm still alive to tell the tale!! :mad:I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0
