Just to update, after Raxiels post I went ahead and started the switch just in case it did vanish with the 'maintenance'. Also hoped I might have been offered a delayed start but as has been stated, not for new customers.

My bills aren't huge and I always end up in credit every year, currently over £90.

Having just had a new boiler installed my gas usage should be lower over the next 12 months too, so I used a guesstimated lower figure for my usage.

Received my confirmation email yesterday, but will still keep an eye on other options through the 14 day cooling-off period.

Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly.

Hello thejuggler and thanks for coming on board.

Assuming you pay with a Monthly Direct Debit and register with our website, thought you might be interested in an online tool that gives you more control over the payments. It's the Direct Debit Manager. Comes in handy should circumstances change.

Provided the account is billed up to the latest meter readings, payments can be changed by up to 20 per cent up or down. By up to 5 per cent up or down without readings. Before confirming the new amount, we'll let you know by how much we think the account will be in credit/debit by the time of the annual review if the payments are changed but usage doesn't alter as expected.

Our aim with these payment arrangements is for accounts to have as near as possible to a zero balance at the annual review. If you should finish up in credit at the annual review, anything over a fiver is automatically refunded to your bank. There's more information about this and the Direct Debit Manager on our website.

Hope this is of interest thejuggler. Let me know if you need any more information as happy to help.

You're welcome thejuggler. Happy to help.

Once all's live, there are a number of services on our website that might be useful to you. As well as the Direct Debit manager I mentioned above, there's also a tool where you can issue your own bills. This is Real Time Billing. Just pop in meter readings and you'll have the option of seeing the balance that would result or actually issue a bill to these readings. There are other services too.

You know where I am if you need help with any of this. Just shout up.

Depends where you are Maxwell007. Prices are regional. In some areas, version 9 will be cheaper than 8 but in others it'll be more expensive. Both the electricity and gas vary regionally as well. It could be you save on one fuel but lose on another. If you let me know what area you're in (first part of the post code will do), I'll check for you. Alternatively, pop your details on our website or one of the independent comparison sites and these will show you any potential savings.

If you decide to move to version 9, as an existing customer, you'll need to do this directly with us. Either through our website or over the phone. Switching from one E.ON tariff to another isn't something that can be done through a third party site.

    Hope this helps Maxwell007.

Bit of a contrast Maxwell007. SE18 is in distribution area 12. In this region, our Saver Fixed 1 Year v9 is cheaper than v8. For HA9 (distribution area 10), the situation is reversed and v8 is cheaper than v9.

This is for the unit prices per kWh and covers single rate and Economy 7 electricity as well as the gas. Daily standing charges are the same on both tariffs.

Hope this helps Maxwell007. Let me know if you need any more information.

Can someone explain to me what online only management means? Does this mean I cannot call up to query a bill?

I ask this as both Npower ( overcharged, screwed up tarrif ) and Sainsbury's (only applied tariff to my gas not electricity and thus also overcharged ) have massively screwed up my bills.

So as you can understand I do not want to go to a company that does not let me make a phone call to complain or query a bill?
