If you are already on E.ON Saver Fixed 1 Year v7 then it's worth checking how the recently introduced E.ON Saver Fixed 1 Year v8 compares. For me at least, it was a bit cheaper so I have switched over.

It's good you've found a better deal with us prixon. We launched version 8 on 22 March 17. There aren't any exit fees when switching from one of our tariffs to another either so those on version 7 don't apply.

Ooh, that's a step in the right direction, it's good but not quite enough to tempt me back.
Although if this had been on offer in January it would probably have been enough to keep me.

Another tenth of a penny off the unit rates for v9 please.

Unfortunately it works out £19 per year more than v7 for me.

Yes, the good news is that according to the E.ON website I might save £17/year (dual fuel) by switching to v8. The bad news is that for some unknown reason E.ON aren't prepared to give me the detailed comparison figures online. What I want to know for each fuel is:
    - cost per kWh
    - standing charge per day
I want to compare these figures with my current tariff side by side. Why are E.ON reluctant to supply me this information online? Then I can do a straight comparison between the two tariffs.

UPDATE after 40 minute call to E.ON:
Despite what I'm being told by the website comparison claiming I'll save an estimated £17/year by switching to v8, in fact this is not true. The E.ON rep I spoke to confirmed my suspicion that I'm actually better off on my current tariff because the E.ON website calculations contain errors. She recommended do not switch to v8.

So anyone contemplating a change to v8 beware. Do not naively believe the E.ON website headline figures. Instead, look at the detailed figures for unit charges and daily charges and compare them with your current tariff before jumping off the cliff.

The information is there picks. Please log in to your online account and go to the quote tool as you did previously. From there, choose 'Review' and then 'Tariff Information Label' (it's near the bottom of the page). This will give you the information you asked for including the unit prices per kWh and the daily standing charges. Prices include VAT.

The website quote is based on these prices plus the energy we assume will be used over the 12 month period of the tariff. This, in turn, is taken from the usage information we hold for the previous 12 months. The figures are shown in the box at the top of the screen. Other assumptions made are the payment method and whether or not customers have opted for paperless billing.

Provided these assumptions are right, the website quote will be accurate. Changes to any of these will affect the quote. This quote gives the total over a full year and what this would cost per month. These calculations are right and don't contain errors but, change any of the factors being calculated, and a different result will come about.

I agree, always best to compare unit rates and standing charges between tariffs. With fixed tariffs these are set. Usage, though, changes and we have no way of knowing what a customer will use in the future. Past usage is the best indicator we have and this, too, depends on the number of accurate meter readings from individual customers.

    Hope this explains picks.

Correct, but it doesn't show the same details for my current tariff. As my current tariff only gives me a quarterly bill, I haven't yet had a bill to show the detail. This is why I telephoned E.ON and, as I previously reported, the E.ON rep recommended stay on your current tariff and do not switch to v8 as the website provided saving is incorrect. Are you suggesting she gave me the wrong information?

Your current tariff details can be found by
    1. Login to your account at the the EON website
    2. Click on the tariff shown under "Your Current Tariffs"
    3. Click on "Show unit rates and exact discounts"

Thanks. The end result is that, despite the E.ON headline showing an estimated approx £17 annual saving by switching, the E.ON rep said this is an incorrect calculation and my current tariff is likely to prove a better deal.

The "savings" will no doubt be based on the OFGEM method of calculating the next 12 months bill by using the months left on of the current fixed term plus the Standard Variable Rate for the remainder of the year. Then compared to the 12 months at the suggested tariff giving a saving as the Standard Variable Rate skews the results.
This is the way the regulator demands companies calculate savings which only really works reliably for those already on the Standard Variable Rate.

As gsmlnx explains picks. Current tariffs can be found on the right hand side of the first page when logged in. The information will also have been in the 'Your New Tariff' email we sent when you switched tariff.

I can't say if our advisor was right or wrong. As I explained earlier, calculations depend on the data being used. If she used all the details as they appear on the website, I suspect she was wrong. If, though, any of these details were different then it's likely she was right.

We try to keep the usage as accurate as possible and update when we receive the latest meter readings. If this has just been updated, it could be the usage she was looking at is different from that when you checked the website. Guessing though.

I've just done some manual calculations based on the information held on certain colleagues' online accounts. Works out right every time.

    Hope this explains picks.
