Quiet weekend this weekend, as we've got a lovely cold doing the rounds at the moment! Two sales yesterday and a couple more for me at the moment tonight. DH has a load going out, and some really bulky stuff too so that should clear some space :T :T

£117.10 to go on the joint od. It will be cleared on Wednesday.

That money will then go to car savings. I'm going to start putting aside for a car. I want £3k for that, that should get me a half decent car (I have to have one for work as it's in my contract, so need something semi reliable). I'm still going to keep mine going as long as possible, but I'd like to have the funds there.

 I’m back after my previous diary was deleted :( I’m hoping I can recover my declutter lists and my SOA (as well as the rest!). A lovely fellow MSE’r has given me some advice about how to do it, so thank you

Anyway, there’s me, DH, DS and DD. My debts are all mine and I deal with them myself. They have built up over the years for a number of different reasons, mostly poor money management. I have battled and battled for years trying to keep on top of everything, robbing Peter to pay Paul, until at the end of 2015 I decided enough was enough and I got in touch with Stepchange who were fantastic. I stayed with them for about a year, and a few months ago went self-managed on my DMP, thanks to the brilliant DMP thread on here which is chock full of advice (although I lurk rather than post :o ).

I had some very good results last year which meant I managed to clear over £13,000 of my debt. One was written off completely (almost £7k!), I had a small Plevin claim which reduced one, and a complaint about charges reduced another. I also received a large complaint payment which I used to set up an emergency fund and clear a small debt, and a smaller PPI payment which I used to settle an unenforceable debt for around 30% of the total owed. None of these things would have happened without the advice and support available on this site so I will be eternally grateful to everyone who posts on here!

Now there are no easy wins left so the hard work continues!

As anyone who has read any of my previous diaries, I have spent the last few years trying to clear our very cluttered house. I have been keeping an ongoing declutter list on here for the last few years, and this is one thing I will be very sad to have lost as it shows the progress we’ve made. It is finally getting to the stage where we can start seeing a difference and I want to keep up the momentum.

  • Sorry your old diary was lost, but good luck with the new one.

ETA: Re the lost lists, try contacting a mod, they may be able to copy it and send it to you. otherwise try google cache. I don't know how to do it but understand it is possible.
