As the initial respondent to your first post, I can honestly say that if I saw a similar post today I'd respond in the same way, i.e. it's impractical to give any sort of guidance about what best to do with surplus money without further details.

However, a key issue, as highlighted by cloud_dog and others, was that the wording in your OP appeared much the same as many others in seeking guidance and recommendations ("Been lurking for a while and now signed up to get some ideas" and "Still a fair amount of cash to invest"), but you subsequently made it clear that not only were you not seeking such guidance and recommendations but actually took offence at being asked for the requisite clarification. So you may think your first post was 'to the point' but the point really wasn't obvious to the rest of us (and still isn't to be honest).

And on the subject of "if I did that I would be giving my personal profile to anonymous persons", it seems to have escaped you that your personal profile would also be anonymous, unless your real name is Smed....

Well, you know, if Smed has left the forum I really don't blame him. All he did was post an innocent introduction which a lot of forums but not MSE insist on. Then he was subjected to quite savage personal attacks for not posting his details demanded by those who have never posted their's! Really? Seriously? Personally, I'm in the clear: I've already proved that I am who I say I am. What about YOU?

Reading back on his posts he is correct in that it appears that most of you are in a fantasy world. Looking at the times of posts are there any regular contributors who are actually working for a living. I'd say that the only time any of you see a bank is when you collect your dole money from the ATM. Strange that I never noticed that before.
