Sorry to hear your Hamster is unwell. When we had to have Honey PTS because of a prolapsed eye the vet only charged a small fee for the consult and nothing for the PTS. Though I was hysterical so he probably felt he couldn't charge too much :o

recently my hamster has found a way to push the 2nd story of her cage out so far that she can nibble on the edges. it really irritates when im trying to sleep at night, im going to the local pet store to get her chews tomorow as i have ran out, could this be the reason why she is constantly nibbling at her cage? she does tend to chew on the bars near enough every night. How can i stop this, please help?!
i presume shes around 1yr old as i got her off a friend. i get her out and put her in her exercise ball and play with her before i go to bed.
Even with chew sticks shes still constantly knawing on the bars of her cage, the cage is about 2 months old and cost around £45 so i wouldn't want to buy an new one. But shes was always like this in the cage that she came in and ive had her now for about 5-6 months.

Put the plug in the bath, no water...sit yourself in the bath and let the hammy run all over you and sniff you. Let it get used to you and soon you will be able to handle it, but don't make sudden movements as it will bite if it becomes scared. Let it start taking food from your hand etc

remember how giant musn't we look in their little eyes...

I had a male hamster that would continually chew and ping at the bars in the cage, even if he had been in the excercise ball for hours
We bought a ball that you could use in and out the cage ( it came with a stand and a open end part ) for using in the cage,
It didnt calm him totally but it allowed him to use up energy when he was wide awake.
