I think they meant to say 'related to rats'. bit of a joke i think! What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0

Im not into picking my hamster up yet so i get her out of the cage by putting her on the lid of her ball and as ive lowered my arm round to bring her to her ball the lid has hit the wall and my hamster has fell and landed on the floor on her feet. She was a little weary and walked slowly into her ball so i sat down and let her out on me and she was walking slowly, but didnt seem hurt in anyway. When back in her cage she wandered around the top level and then went down and ate some of her food and went to bed. i just want to no if she will be ok? because im really scared as shes my first hamster and dont want to lose her trust. HELP!
Just wanted to ask how your hammy is?????0 -
When I worked in the pet shop, one of the best ways to pick up hamsters without getting a nip was to rub my hands in the wood shavings or bed that way I smelled of the bedding and not of a stranger.
Lots of patience, being calm, quiet and moving slowly when you play with them helps gain their trust and remember to do it daily.0 -

my hammy is fine thankshas anyone got any tips on how to stop your hammy biting on the metal cage? i have tried blowing on her and saying no but it never works. i dont want her to stop doing it because it is helping her teeth but just not as constant as she does.

We used to have gerbils, we kept them in an old aquarium (so they could have a lot of stuff to dig in at the bottom, gerbils like making tunnels etc), maybe you could try that?
Then your hamster wouldn't have any bars to chew on.0 -
Does it have wood blocks etc to chew?0

When I was in the pet shop with my daughter the owner said it was alright to keep her rats in an aquarium.
He just stared at me when I asked him if they would drown.

Awww my hamster is called Wispa too :j :j Mines a she though, we thought she was a boy until she got horny one night :rotfl:
We've had our hamster over a year now and she still doesn't like being picked up, she doesn't bite (although she did nibble my thumb not so long ago but I think it was because of my nail varnish, didn't hurt) but she jumps out of our hands, I think she thinks she can fly :rotfl: I just think it's because she's very nosy and doesn't want us holding her back :rotfl: I do hope she settles down at some point though because i'd love her to be all cuddly. My niece had a hamster once, I was sat down and she put the hamster on my head (don't ask why!) and it just sat thereWispa would have jumped off and legged it :rotfl:
She bites at her bars loads though even though she's got some wood things to chew on and she's let out a lot, I think maybe it's because she sees us walking past her cage a lot and she wants out?
Sorry i'm waffling, I love talking about my hamster:heart: Think happy & you'll be happy
I :heart2: my doggies
