    Morning all,

All this talk of planting makes me want to too but I have never been successful really. This year is so busy that I a may just put it on my long list of things for next year (when I know life will be calmer).

Still have a cold here so snotty hugs to those also under the weather. I enjoyed my big night out at my friends. We had such a giggle! Now I am watching my budget I really notice the price of things but spending £19 on cup supper and taxi is a bargain compared to call out charges or a night on the town. Thats my treat until got to the show I won tickets for in a few weeks.

DNM - I really relate to what you said about routines etc. Sometimes I think its a bit boring, for a millisecond, and then realise actually its really nice. So comforting and enables focus on other things. My adult DD has mental health issues that over the years have caused such turmoil and pain that when its calm its really lovely. My DD still struggles, and has really bad episodes, so I am trying to really enjoy the calm things as I know there is likely more difficult times to come.

    Today
    * Meal plan for month declared to MSE diary. Done
*Washing mountain. Just needs putting outside (sunshiiiiine!)
    *Pet related cleaning. Done
*Sit in sun for an hour...more than done! :D
    *General spruce up. Done
    *Vacuum and wash floors
    *All meals from stores.
    *Bit of crafting
*Avoid night out with friends as already had treat

Sun keeps peaking out for sustained periods of time here which is lovely! Hope you all have a fantastic Saturday!
Happiness is wanting what you have...

Holy !!!! on a cracker, why did nobody *tell* me going to the hygienist I'd worse than going to the dentist??!

It was a truly horrible experience, I arrived 10 minutes early for my 1pm appointment. She took me in and said 'you realise you won't get your full 40 minute appointment?' I looked blankly at her and she said 'you know you're 20 minutes late?' 'No, I'm not, I said, my appointment is at 1pm'. '12.30', she said, we close at 1pm'. 'No, 1pm' I said, and I have a text confirming the appointment' (which I then showed her.)

It felt like she was rushing through the whole appointment because she wanted to get away, she'd told me to put my hand up if at any point I wanted her to stop. A colleague came in and THREE TIMES I put my hand up and she didn't notice as she was too busy telling the colleague that someone had booked her a 1pm patient.

I'd warned her I am a nervous patient, it's on my notes also, what I didn't say to her that I did to the dentist was not to tell me if there was anything alarming and just to get on and do it and make out it was all normal practice. At the end she was showing me how to brush right under my gums and I said 'I'd have been scared to do that in case I damaged them' and she actually said 'yes, but look at the damage you've done by not doing it'.

I had blood all down both sides of my chin by the time she'd finished and apparently my gums will stop bleeding 'in about four days', most reassuring.

I was feeling really good about braving the dentist and the one I saw on Thursday was lovely but this b*tch has set me back again

Not money saving at all but I have an ironing lady coming to collect a bag of clothes tomorrow night, I don't plan on doing it regularly but I want to get on top of some stuff and it's going to be my treat to myself.

I've been to the supermarket and have dinner for tonight sorted plus fridge snacks (houmous, pasties, quiches etc.) for the teens for the week and soups for me for work.

I wanted to get out to sweep the garden but it's started raining, I did manage to measure up for some trellis though, I want to get it up before my baby wisteria springs into maturity (I hope!)

Foxgloves I was given a chilli plant last summer but I've noticed you saying you are planting chilli seeds, are chillies an annual or a perennial? I don't know whether to pull it out.

Also, I have lots of Salvia edging my decking area, should I have cut them down to the ground? It's really quite mild here and lots of stuff makes it through the winter without losing leaves (my passiflora still has leaves as do my antirhinums.)
    Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

    December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.10

I'm sorry to hear that you had such a horrible experience :(

Not all of them are that mean, but my mum had one that went at her hammer and tongs - and mum was able to compare as she was a dental nurse. It sounds like the lady that saw you was about as mean as you can get, from what mum told me :(

  • FatVD I'm still a gardening novice but I do know chillis can last a few years if looked after properly but mostly I've only ever heard of them being in pots and brought inside to overwinter them. On the other questions I haven't the foggiest!

    eeek hygienist sounded horrific!

I'm thinking I might complain on my next visit though the thought of doing that when my treatment hasn't been done yet is quite scary (what are the chances that she and my dentist are best mates? ) though I will certainly never be seeing that hygienist again.

    Hi FVD,
Re chillies. They are mostly grown in the UK as annuals because they don't like our cold winters. However, it is possible to over-winter them in a warm room. I tried it with a couple of jalopeno plants & they did survive but had to stay in the house until the nights got warmer as my greenhouse is unheated. I've grown all new ones from seed this year. They start in my little heated propagator (which was an end of season YS!) then move onto spare bedroom windowsill, tgen conservatory (cold) then finally out to greenhouse end of March/beg April depending on temperatures. I cloche all my tropical veg with cut down plastic bottles.
As for the salvias....some varieties over-winter, others get huffy & cark it. It you can see new growth around the crown of the plants, you can trim the old bits off.
P.S Hygienist sounds horrendous. Customer Care course reqiuired instantly!

    Evening Saturday Savers,
Busy but enjoyable day. Money saving bits as follows:
*Saved over £3 on city centre parking by arriving before 9 a.m which apparently meant we could stay all day for a fixed rate of £5.50.
*Treated ourselves to coffee & hot cross buns in cafe but NOT lunch as well, as I'd come prepared with 2 filled cobs & crisps from home.
*Picked a free diet coke each courtesy of O2 Priorities.
*Remembered to use double points voucher in Superdrug.
*Really felt like buying a new dress, something a bit slinky but not a good idea £-wise as am between sizes. Picked a nice top & dress & had little bit of a slink in the fitting rooms & that got rid of the urge for free.
*Spent gift card I received for Christmas on a new handbag, which was 20% off too.
*Grocery shopping came in just about on budget.....well only about £1.70 over & it was Sainsbury's today instead of Aldi.
*Had pork joint on our shopping list & mr f managed to spot a YS one so over £3 saved on that.
    *Potted up baby cucumber plants.
    *Sowed pepper & tomato seeds.
*Watered greenhouse seeds, rocket & strawberry runners.
*Found v good greengrocer stall in side street today: 1 big cauliflower, 1 cabbage, 3lbs carrots, 6 apples & 6 nectarines for just over £4.
    *Did a couple of surveys.
*Filled car up with diesel while we were in next town as it"s always cheaper than in our town.
*Free coffees at Waitrose on way home.
*Sock knitting, 'Vikings', Scandi-crime, wine, sofa & mr f's cooking.night tonight.
    Love to all,
    F x

    Evening!

Cashed in my coins saving tin today, so many had to use a counting machine. Amazing tip from elsewhere on MSE that HSBC do it for free so no commission paid. Cashed in value is £27 so I immediately took the little ones for an ice cream at a local diner, cost £12 but they loved it. Not sure what to do with rest, probably allocate to savings fund.

Also got free breakfast today as I'm a scout leader, bacon overdose! Bonus
