I've only ever washed mine if it's got over full in the summer and got maggots  Then I stick all manner of soapy things in there to soak then tip it over near a drain cover and hose out with the garden hose.

I'd not pay £60 for someone to do it

    Hi all
I've never cleaned out our wheely bin either. If I had to I'd do the same as FVD
    - So I've got the week of work. It's horizontal rain here in Yorkshire however went for a walk around a reservoir. Fresh air and free exercise.
    - Went into a nearby town for KFC. I chose the snack box and got a free coffee with the app. It looks like you can get a free coffee everyday. Collected loyalty stamps too.
    - Did a £6 market research whilst I was there.
    - Hope to sell some kids clothes for £5 on Facebook today.
    - Looked at the webuybooks site FVD. Suprised how little I would get. So I'm going to list on eBay and if I don't get any buyers in next few weeks I'll give in to WBB.
    - Listed 2 items on Facebook and eBay.
    - FPL, comps and Magic Freebies.
    - Downloaded the Zeek app today and will check it out.
That's all for today, LP x

  • Another non-cleaner of the wheelie bin here!

I have opening bids on two of the three things I have for sale on eb@y at the moment, this makes me very happy - things leaving the house AND money coming in! Hoping that my sales total might rise slightly higher than £14 over the course of the auctions though

Have refined and honed my food shopping list to within an inch of its life. If we get through the week without a top up I'll die of shock, but it will be an interesting test.
Trying to figure out a whole new life. Trying to figure out a whole new budget.
Divorcing, unclear on final debt total right now, but focusing on building a financial buffer zone.

    Greetings Frugalistas,
Another week, some more money saving. Can't believe how much of today I have spent sitting at my desk in Foxgloves HQ number-crunching. Bit of a saga, involving among other complications, sorting out which money from which Savings Piggies needs to be paid where, in order to keep all my different budgets straight. Think I've finally managed it. Anyway, here are today's efforts:
*Free exercise clearing & digging over a large flower bed.
*Free plants, as it's that time of year when self-seeded (& therefore FREE) lovelies start poking through the soil. Today's finds = a lovely chunky foxglove, an aquilegia & 3 clumps of forget-me-nots. All transplanted to fill up gaps.
*Updated grocery budget & paid our Saturday Aldi shop off the CC (only used to earn points for vouchers)
*Sorted out our Savings Piggies - primarily the Car Piggy & Holiday Piggy - Had a long discussion with mr f at the weekend about holidays this year. We hadn't booked anything because we thought I would be having surgery & 12-week recovery time, but now I've had a reprieve for the time being, we are able to make plans. We decided we'd like 1 week in a holiday cottage, 2 camping trips & a long weekend festival. Then we looked at the financial health of our Holiday Savings Piggy & got real! We have booked festival tickets for just the Saturday & a holiday cottage in Cornwall. I shall miss camping, as I love it, but we have both always wanted to stay in this particular cottage which is about 30 steps from the sea, & it was free the week we want to go (very much off-peak so as to be affordable). Camping trips are really affordable but you do have to add in an additional 2 stays for cat at cattery so we are happy with what we've chosen for this year. Anyway, deposit paid on CC (for vouchers) & I will pay the cash in tomorrow to transfer.
*Emailed bank about the £2000 payment I intend to make off our loan. We have been sent very unclear information. They are waiting for a cheque.....but didn't tell us we'd need to send one. We have been waiting for their letter telling us when to go ahead with the funds transfer. Had a moan & asked for more clarification.
*Stewed a big bag of last year's rhubarb from the freezer. Will eat that as some of my fruit intake this week.
*Sorted out date for replacement windscreen fitting with insurer.......only need to pay £75 excess. Still have not the 1st clue how the windscreen cracked, Our Car Savings Piggy will cover this.
*Paid another 50p into my sealed pot.
*Paid another little marmalade payment into our Loan Pay Down Fund.
*Sold another ebay item....wrapped it using recycled materials & invoiced buyer.
*Re-listed remaining unsold items for the two-billionth time (free listings)
*Updated a project I'm doing for Ipsos (payment will be £15....it doesn't take long)
    *Did a few surveys.
*Did laundry overnight on cheap tariff & for the first time this year, I pegged it out! It's blowing away quite happily so am hoping it won't need too much heated airer time. Washer will be set on timer again for another Economy 7 load tonight.
*Decide whether to list a top on ebay or not. I bought it from a charity shop (it's in excellent condition) & I like it, but I think even when I get the naughty re-gained splodge of weight off (am making good progress), it will still make me look overly porky around my middle..........reckon it'll be listed by the end of this week as I can't see the point in keeping clothes which don't make me feel good about myself.
Right.....time to go & fetch that washing in.
    Cheers all,
    F x

  • Evening all. Tanks for starting us DNMS well done on the digging :D

Back from our 4 days away. A marvellous time was had by all :D spends on budget and lots of exercise done whilst there and plenty of fresh air :D

One load of washing done, another will go on overnight and 3rd can go on in the morning. Will dry on airer and see if some can go outside tomorrow. No heating on here at the moment as it's positively tropical :rotfl:

Popped to mr T to fill up with fuel (paid by work) and got ys cauli, rest of ys items were not worth it or fresh and not freezable and would have gone to waste. One that did make me smile was dozen eggs, 9 missing down to £1.50 from £2.00  what :rotfl:

Did manage to get 5kg of red lentils at a barginous price ;)

Annoyed that I found 1000 nectar points won coupon in DH wallet than expired yesterday :(

Treated ourselves to a carvery for tea but a) used staff discount and b) told small beforehand there wouldn't be pudding as they had some treats left from holiday. I'll finish off the hm treacle tart ;)

Need to make DH some soup to take to work tonight as he's back on nights. Will also take some tomorrow for my lunch.

Need to parcel up some dvds that sold whilst I was away. Move money to savings :D
Right, off to catch up with some diaries, purps.

Is the crack on the edge? These are caused by how the screens are manufactured and installed; the outer 2 to 3 inches of a windscreen (the "Crack Zone") can have stress defects, which cause this area to fracture much more easily than the rest of the screen.

Stone chips can turn into larger cracks over time.

Extreme unexpected cold spells can cause screens to crack.

Or if you have a large variation in temperature, like if your car has been sitting in the snow all day and then you blast the heating, this can cause rapid expansion which causes a fracture.

(I really need to get a life.) :o

    Hi All,

I'd like to join in please.

This week I plan to make sandwiches for mine & DH's lunches. Day one done!
I bought a 6 pack of crispsfor £1 to go in my desk drawer to go with said sandwiches.
    Have at least three NSD's.

  • PurpleFairy, you've just reminded me to check our Sainsbury's vouchers in case there's anything DH can use when he does the top up bit of our shop at Sainsbury's after Aldi tonight. :)

    Hi Naomim!

Blimey, busy day chez Playmobil today! Feeling knackered, but pleased with what I've achieved.

    - Go through bathroom supplies and check what we have multiples of. Done! Not actually too many duplicates, but at least I know what we have now.
    - bake some biscuits for my client tomorrow so I don't end up getting expensive shop ones. Done! Although not iced, will do that in the morning.
    - attempt to rejig our menu plan/shopping list yet again to drop the price a little, as I've realised we need a couple of store cupboard things that I hadn't accounted for. Done! We had loads of leftover fishcakes from the weekend, so I've substituted this week's fish meal with leftovers and managed to knock a fiver's worth of fish off the list.
    - Hang out a laundry on the line (as long as I actually put it on to wash in about the next five minutes, otherwise there won't be any point!). Done, but annoyingly not terribly dry when I brought it in, so I still have airers everywhere.
    - Make sure the heating is turned down a little here too, and open a window or two to get some air flowing. Done, nice to get some fresh air into the house.
    - make DH's packed lunch.Already done!
    - Eat sensibly, as part of my 'don't expand out of the clothes I already own' mission. Erm. Sort of done. Better than recent weeks, but will need to try harder to make actual weight loss happen.
    - Make sure that the £70 going into my business account today is appropriately divided up and accounted for, so i don't fool myself into thinking I have more available for March's budget than I actually do. Done! Slightly depressing being so sensible and realising how little of that £70 we'll actually see, but better to be realistic and know my actual budget

Feeling very poor as had to make some cash payments - Child 1's school lunches and Child 3's preschool fees, but they were budgeted for and not unexpected. Counting down to DH's payday now, not because I get to spend any money, but I get to have YNAB fun balancing all my budgets again!
Trying to figure out a whole new life. Trying to figure out a whole new budget.
