Anyone can host at a US server and many Uk residents and busnesses do but trading laws and Information regs can vary - The "non trading" whois opt for privacy out also rings alarms - the company address is proabably an accommodation address office or anonymous mailbox.
The best thing for those who have been stung, as mentioned, is to inform Microsoft etc.
  • Hi there guys.

I've ordered one as a test. I can afford to blow £25 on this trial to get a once and for all final answer.

So, I ordered at 1pm yesterday. At 4pm I emailed to say I hadn't received my email with the software and I got a reply from the boss (on a Gmail account) saying 'within 48hrs' (on reflection this is stalling time).

    I few points to note:

    1. I have changed my paypal account password. To order from the site you need to provide a password. Inevitably people use the same password on lots of things so I guess if it is a scam this guy will be collecting palpal account details. Not good.

    2. His registered name 'Khuram Shazad' is the same name as the person arrested in the UK in connection with the 2006 transatlantic aircraft terrorist plot in the United Kingdom - probably a joke.

3, There is no phone number and the fax number is American (despite being apparantly based in Liverpool)

    4. The registered address actually belongs to
    Zanza Healthcare Ltd.
    Unit A1 Kingfisher Business Park , Bootle, L20 6PF
    Tel: 0151-922-4640

This morning I emailed the guy and told him I'd found out that it was a scam and I demanded an immediate refund. The money was back in my account within hours.

I called Zanza healthcare and told them that this company were using their mail address. They have reported it to the Police.

I reported them to the webhost in America.

Paypal have been least helpful. I was hoping to get a suspension on his account before many more people are ripped off.
  • Pained as I am to admit it they duped me.

The site gives the impression that they user couriers (Depending on type and size of order). When you pay through Paypal on the item description it says digital delivery, which you'd miss if you blink.

You are then sent a link to download software. Provided you have a Broadband connection you can download the file in a couple of hours, which comes with a key that doesn't work.

Contacted Microsoft two days ago RE this still no response. Filed a dipute with paypal.

    Hope this saves some headaches

Well so far I've personally reported them to Microsoft, FACT, 1and1 (registrar), iWeb (site host). It's disappointing nothing seems to have been done so far in taking the site down. Seems when I last posted it was only down temporarily.

As I said above, I got a refund easily. You have to email them and say that you are going to report them to Paypal and have their account frozen. That makes them move quick. Well it worked for me last night.
  • Mailed them to tell them I had reported them to Microsoft and filed a dispute with them through Paypal as item was significantly not as described.

Received an email from Paypal saying the money has been refunded.

Still haven't heard from MICROSOFT, not even an acknowledgement; guess complacency is a product of being the market leader.
  • ;) Thanks for all the advice.............have done all the above and have received email stating "refund on the way"

Question:How long did it take these people to refund or are they just playing for time??
    and
How do you request paypal to freeze the exisoft account I can find no reference on how to do this on paypal site.:cry:

Must admit paypal do not seem to care about this situation.
  • The only legitimate "discounted" version of Office that you are likely to see is the Micro$oft Office Home and Student 2007, which is available to anyone who has a student in the household

Just for your information, any student with a ac.uk email address can get Office Ultimate 2007 for £38.95. See the top link for the Ultimate Steal, unfortunate name for a Micro$oft sanctioned download
