Vodafone Retention Deals

Ah, so once the PAYG customer gets their PAC code, that's that, they don't bother to try to keep you?
Seems a bit short-sighted, given that in my partner's mum's case, she wants to move onto a contract with a new phone etc.
Exactly.
But no, Not really, PAYG and pay monthly are two very different business models.
She can move over to a new deal with a new phone, but she won't get any special deals based on the fact that she is / was a PAYG customer. She can try asking but I doubt very much she will get offered anything better than the standard new customer deals on the website.0 -

I do see what you're saying, but I still think it is short sighted. Fact is, she will become a pay monthly customer for 24 months if they bothered to call her - the same as someone who is on a rolling monthly contract.
She has been offered some deals from Vodafone before she got her PAC code, but they were not quite as good as the deals that the retentions team are offering.0 -

It just seems like you don't really grasp with the point of the retentions department is. They are there to RETAIN existing contract customers, by offering them competitive deals, not to try and entice PAYG customers to become monthly customers. As your friend has been pay as you go, she more than likely won't have made VF much money over the last year or so, so they have no incentive to "retain" her.
Also, you need to remember that retentions deals will differ customer to customer, depending on how much money that customer has made them over the length of their last contract, so saying "She has been offered some deals from Vodafone before she got her PAC code, but they were not quite as good as the deals that the retentions team are offering", is not really applicable to your partners mother.
Its all well and good saying that she will become a 24 month contract customer, but so what? So could I. So could the person sitting next to me on the bus, should everyone get offered an amazing deal, rather than the bog standard ones on their website?
If they are offering her deals better than the standard website ones, and she wants to stay with Vodafone I'd bite their hand off tbh.0 -
OK, first of all, there's no need to be rude or aggressive. I was merely voicing an opinion. But seeing as you seem hell bent on having an argument with a stranger on the Internet, I'll indulge you.
Secondly, whilst I appreciate the insinuation that I'm an idiot, I have a more than adequate understanding of the retentions department, having helped both my partner (who got a fantastic deal on the s4 last year) and my partner's father get deals through them. You imply that it is obvious they are there to retain contract customers only, so apologies if I've asked a stupid question in thinking they might want to RETAIN pay as you go customers.
FYI, I'm pretty sure my friend has been more profitable to Vodafone as a PAYG customer over the past few years than my partner, who was on a rolling contract. I'm not suggesting Vodafone call the man on the bus to entice him into becoming a contract customer, but I am suggesting it might be good business to ring my friend's partner rather than lose her as a customer altogether. Having said that, I accept that Vodafone have probably explored this and decided that on average it's not worth their while calling every PAYG customer. It's their choice and I respect that.
As for mentioning that she has been offered some deals, I was not trying to make any point other than to point out that you were incorrect when you said they would not offer her anything over and above what is on with their website.0 -

I have not been rude or aggressive, nor have I insinuated you're an idiot.
please read back my post in a calm voice, rather than making assumptions about my tone or intent.0 -

I don't really want to continue this as it will get petty, but I found your tone to be rude at the very least, from your very first sentence. I suggest you read back your post and consider how you would feel if someone had written that to you.
Anyway...moving on... thank you for replying to my initial question.0 -

You can't tell someone's tone from something that you only have in writing, that was my whole point. I have re read it and I can only see how someone would have thought it was rude, if they assumed it was meant in a derogative manner (which it wasn't).
But OK, yes case closed.0 -
Hello,
Can anyone let me know the sort of deal I could expect on either an iPhone 5S (32GB) or an iPhone 6 (64GB)?
I've been a long-term Vodafone customer and am at the end of my contract. Just requested my PAC code.
Thank you!0
