hi im currently on the £5.00 a month tarrif after phone box direct colapse.. i gave my 30 notice to cancell as coming to 12 month, got a call from vodafone upgrade to stay on same tarrif 500x net mins + stop the clock, 250text.. nokia n95 8gb free @ £15.00 month 12 month contract.
I know this deal was a while ago now but has anyone had anything better or even matched this since?0 -
Phone customer services (191) and ask them when you are eligible for an upgrade. If they say you can now ask them you'd rather cancel. They will try and offer an upgrade but refuse and say you want a PAC code. Even then if they offer you a good deal with the phone with the upgrades department insist on the pac code and hang up. You should then receive a call from the retention department who will offer you a much better deal. After that its up to you what tariff you choose with the phone.
If you cannot upgarde yet ask them when and ring then them again after that date and follow instructions above.
I went through a similar situation and got offered a good deal with retentions.
Hope this helps.
Eligible for upgrade on 2nd august:)
sorry for being so clueless, but if i decide to sit it out until the end of my contract in October, do i have to put it in writing, giving vodafone 30days notice??Comping Fairy bring some luck my way! :dance:Love my Fiance Spiceboy :happyhear:iloveyou:0 -
If you upgrade 2 mths early these 2 mths are added to your new contract. So if you take an 18 mth contract this will run for 20 mths from October in your case.0

You have to give 30 days written notice if you wish to cancel completely and disconnect your number.
If you request a pac code you do not have to write in.0 -
After being offered to keep the deal I had (£15 200 mins stop the clock and 250 txts) but no phone upgrade. I wrote to cancel and got a call offering a New Samsung Steel Slider, 200 mins ,250 txts, stop the clock for £12.50. Very pleased with that- lovely phone too.:pBusy mummy of 4.:j0

Hummm for the first time I am not having much luck with Vodafone. At the moment I am on a pretty good deal - I thought - 250 mins, 125 texts, Stop the Clock (which I don't need), rollover mins and travel Passport. I pay £20 per month, 18 month contract.
I am out of contract and the only thing I can get from them atm is the same tariff and same phone, Nokia 6300. I need a new phone because although it's a great phone it isn't working properly, when someone calls it doesn't ring and NO I don't have it on mute!
I'd be quite happy having a new Nokia 6300 and same tariff as I don't need any extra mins or texts (could always use more mins obviously) but would like to pay less per month especially after reading some of the deals on here. They offered me the same tariff for £10 a month but no new phone which defeats the object.
I got a brilliant deal for my son, he's got 500 mins, 400 texts, and free WAP for the whole duration of his 18 month contract for £20pm with 02.
I wouldn't mind being able to use the internet via phone myself!
Seems as though I need to get PAC code but last time I did that it took them another six weeks plus before they offered the above deal. Has anyone found that one time is better than another to ring them i.e. beg of month/end of month/am/pm? Thanks.0 -
Lara, who are you speaking to? Sounds like you're being treated very shabbily!
Posing as a new customer I have (both times I tried) been offered any tariff half price for 15 out of 18 months with pretty much any phone I want free apart from the really expensive ones like the 8800 arte or N95 8GB. This seems to be the limit for new connections. However, I will be due an upgrade very soon and this will be a handy starting point for negotiations with retentions, who will obviously have more power. Upgrades on the other hand seem to have no power - basically they are not worth talking to AT ALL!
Knowing these trading rules my sister just got a new connection with 15 of 18 months @ £25 p/m and:
Free SE C902
900 mins
Unlimited texts
Unlimited internet
Stop the Clock
Have a look at the new tariffs and if you don't get offered one of them at least half price with a new phone then simply pac your number to PAYG with another network and reconnect as a new customer. If you do this don't forget you also get a free one month trial for TV and internet and three months free insurance. By the way, don't anyone pay for delivery - not even on a Saturday. My sister got this chucked in too so we know they can do it if you ask!
As far as when to call goes, their trading rules change on the first of every month and you know then they'll have a reasonable size pot to play with even if they aren't desparate.0 -

Thanks very much jimgee :T . Got the same tariff as now plus a new phone for £9.99 inc VAT. So I'm happy enough. Bloke said I should have been transferred yesterday and what I was offered was very poor customer relations! I did go into having more mins and texts but I don't need them and I'm happy :j . Phone will be with me tomorrow:D .
PS Also going to take my phone into local Nokia Care Centre and they will check it out to see if there is a fault. So I could have a spare phone!0 -
My contract ends on 8th Sept. So far I have had 2 calls asking me to upgrade, but they only offer 18 month contracts and can't beat the deal I'm on now.
I currently have 750 mins + 500 txt (12month) £17.50 for first 10 months then £35 for last 2.
Any ideas on what I should do. I've been with them for about 4 years and managed every year to get a good deal. I thought they would have offered something good as for the last 6 months my phone bill has been at least £80 month:eek:
I think I want Nokia N95 8 gig, but not sure as there are suppose to be better ones on market-apparently
Any help is gratefully appreciated:j0
