Vodafone Retention Deals

Not really a retention deal, but I've just upgraded online to a Galaxy Note II free of charge. Here's the deal:

Free phone
600 minutes
Unlimited texts
500mg of data
£41 on a 12 month contract (the same as what I'm paying at the moment)

Is this a good deal?

In a bit of a quandry about what to do with my contract as its up for renewal now. Currently paying £20 a month for:
300 Mins
Unlimited txts (think this is capped at 5000)
500MB Internet

This has served me well for years so I think i'm being sensible by refusing to pay more each month...
I have a Sony Xperia Play at the moment which I bought from ebay as I wanted this phone specifically (cracking phone if you play games) and therefore I don't really have a desire to replace the handset (there aren't any new ones that have physical hardware gaming controls that i'm aware of).
I wanted to get a SGS III (gift for the wife) but when I phoned vodafone (upgrades first and then retentions) they wouldnt let me have a SGS III on this tariff (they wanted £27pm for the same deal). I stood firm and explained I don't mind paying for the handset but they wouldnt budge, the best they could offer me was an SGS II or a Galaxy Note, both free on a £25 pm tariff with £5 discount. Now I have no desire for either of these handsets so my quandry is this.

Do I try again and push for an SGS III or am I wasting my time trying to get one on a £20pm tariff, what are peoples experiences with this

Or, I drop to Sim only, they offered me the same tariff as I am on now for £10.50pm on Sim only for 12 months

Is this a reasonable deal SIM only or should I try and push for more? I see that GifGaf and Virgin can offer me more for my money but I like Vodafone, they have good signal where I use my phone and I dont want the hassle of porting my number

I would push for the £20 deal, as I know there will be somebody who will do it for you, so long as you are happy enough to contribute towards the handset, ie £99.

Open with I don't mind paying up to etc so long as I keep my plan at the same price.

You need to request a PAC. All being well you should get a call from outbound retentions (after you've been sent your PAC). I initially tried the web relations team; they tried but weren't able to give me a decent deal. After receiving my PAC, the retentions team phoned, and offered me:

Samsung Galaxy S3 (blue)
24-month contract
Unlimited minutes
Unlimited texts
1GB data
2GB WiFi
£20/month

For £1 extra, they gave me an extra 1GB of data (2GB total) = £21/month.

Tethering is also allowed.

Seems a decent deal.

I was left a voicemail from web team so imtext them on number provided and said I would take the deal I was offered from retentions.T the reply said they could not budge on prices and to ring 191 and ask for retentions.

That is not true. Outbound retentions are able to do iPhone deals.

3 momths unlimited internet then 1 gig
cost €99 12 month contract @ £ 51
I thought this to be a good offer.

I took this

Samsung s3 pebble blue free
Unlimited minutes
Unlimited texts
Unlimited internet for 3 months then 1 gig
12 months @ £45 pm
I also get 20% discount through my work place,so this will effectivly be £36 pm £4
