  • Yeah when I spoke to Amanda last night she said the 12 month deals are pretty much set, I was just hoping to get the handset cost down though she dropped it from £179 to £99 so I may just be being greedy!!

They all said that about iPhone deals as well, until I got to retentions. See above. :)

Retentions called and I was offered 600 mins, 1GB internet and unlimited texts for about £10 a month on a 12 month contract.

I said no and will be calling virgin tomorrow for their rolling 1200mins, 1gb data, unlimited texts for £12 a month.

I signed a Vodafone 24 month contract 3 years ago (pretty basic - handset, minutes and texts). When the contract came to an end I was expecting a call offering me a new handset and some extra minutes or something, but nothing came.

At the end of last week I requested my PAC and gave 30 days notice as I could do with a phone with internet access and the stuff that Vodafone are offering in-store isn't that amazing.

To be honest I was hoping that retentions would call and we could sort something out - by and large I've been happy with the service. But again I've not had a call from them.

Do they just not want my custom anymore? Or does it take more than a couple of days for them to get in touch?

Should I call them? If so, who do I need to speak to and what should my opening gambit be?

I'm quite liking the look of the galaxy S2 - I know the S3 is the new kid on the block but the S2 looks ample for my needs and I'm hoping can be gotten cheaply.

Any advice (esp from Heidi or any of the other official reps) gratefully received!

Johnny dont know if I can say this but be persuasive in your mobile phone covosations as a x employee of telecoms compare a tarriff simalar to a deal you like and see if the company like vodafone can match I do that all the time changing from company to company the bottom line as martin says on tv from mse is never be loyal to one company because tarrifs change all the time ive recently been a vodafone customer for 2 years now no problems wanted the new red tarrif (unlimited text and mins) knew 02 brought the 02 on and on tarrif which offered unlim text web and mins for my iphone 5 but voda kept me by offering the new red tarrif for 18.00 a month so pays to be persuasive and adamant in your needs

    Cheers

Not sure what I am doing wrong, but have been on £10.50pm for 600 mins, unltd txts (and added 12 months ago without asking free Voda to Voda) for 3 or more years and am well out of contract. Asked for PAC in two successive months and both times was told they could do nothing better for me, although both times I pointed to the Virgin deal with 1200 mins and 1gb data at £12.

I am a low user and never get anywhere near the allowance on mins but did want some data. Am now leaving for Virgin.

Is this obstinacy on the part of retentions par for the course for low users ?

Wouldn't Virgins £10 starter sim only make more sense if you're a low user? If you couldn't use 600 minutes, paying £2 more for 1200 minutes that you definitely won't be able to use doesn't seem logical.

The £12 deal also has free BBM which pretty much everyone else seems to charge £5 for. Once I can have it, I will use it.

Fair enough, didn't realise you had a BB. When you put it like that, you can't really refuse.

Quite possibly. They're not making much money from you, and the deal you already have isn't bad.
  • Been offered this through retentions is it worth it?

    Galaxy S3
    900 mins
    Unlimited texts
    1Gb data
    12 month contract

£40 per month with £60 upfront charge for the phone

I thought it was pretty good and its lower than on their website has anyone got any better on a 12 month contract? Happy to wait a little while longer if it will get me a better deal.

    Thanks
