Ok but the offers you quote do not include picture messaging and at 25p+ a throw the extra cost soon adds up.0

Yes but the 100 picture messages is just one of Vodafone's 'extras' and can be added to any tariff (often for free through upgrades/retentions).
As already mentioned people have been offered much better phones than the HTC Wildfire S for the same price you were quoted.
In fact, if you did want that phone, you'd actually be better off opting for one of vodafone's SIM only deals (if you look back you'll see people have been getting 600 minutes, unlimited texts, 500mb internet + wifi AND 100 picture messages or 0845 calls etc. for around £10 a month on retention/upgrade deals.)
You could then purchase the Wildfire S SIM free (current best online price I can find is £134.58) and assuming the deal you were offered was for 18 months, the equivalent would be £10 * 18 = £180 + £134.58 = £314.58 / 18 = £17.48 a month!
So, with regards to the £20.50 deal they offered you - you can do better!0 -
Just had another call now up to
12 Month sim only deal
600 minutes
Unlimited texts
1 GB of data
100 picture messages
bt openzone wifi
£10.25 per month inc vat
Thanks for this!
Just as a heads up to anyone who is interested. After requesting my PAC code I was offered the 600 min, unlim texts, 500MB deal. I said no as I didn't want to be restricted by 500MB.
Got a call a few days later to talk about it, after "speaking to his manager" the guy still wouldn't budge on data and said it was the best they could do and he didn't know about the above package being offered.
I left it another few days and rang them up for a final try, didn't get too far at first, another retentions person spoke to a manager, nothing, then got transferred to the outbounds team (clearly different to retentions?). Spoke to a helpful chap who said he knew how this was done, it was the old package discounted 50% and then the 100mms and 500MB bolt on added on and discounted 100%. He was happy to put me on it £10.25 a month - result.0 -

Thanks for that I am convinced and will probably go the SIM only deal and look for a phone that suits. Cheers0 -
Thanks JamieB and Nath4n. I got Nath4n deal + a sure signal box from Vodaphone. I have not actually got the written confirmation yet but they agreed without any problems along with Vodaphone passport.
Thanks Again!0 -
Does anyone know why the online accounts show you can upgrade 6 months in advance
Just did 4 sim only deals which were for 12 months at £10.25 but renewal date shows as at the end of the 12 months so effectively 18 month contracts.
May be cancelling all 4 tomorrow at this rate0 -

Not 100% sure but but they seem to run new 12 month contracts from the expiry date of any old contract, but give you the benifits of the new one immediatley.........sanfly0 -

Problem is the discount is only for 12 months so i can see them charging the full price for the remaining part of the contract, bit sneaky
Just sopke to them on the phone and they have added this as 24 month contracts even tough it clearly is 12 month contracts online0 -
Has anyone been able to get an 18 months galaxy nexus deal off vodafone retentions?
