Jenny - just to advise, decided to get pac code to move to O2, phoned to get it but was intercepted by a very helpful advisor who (although he had to get authority from his manager) has moved me to a SIM only 12 month deal rather than having to move:).
He reiterated the terms twice on the phone and has confirmed that it gets confirmed in writing with a 7 day cooling off period from then. I have his name & details of call and he certainly sounded genuine but I'll post back should there be any backtracking as has been suggested by OP's on this forum. Thanks if this was a result of you looking at the details.
    Regards

I was planning to move to O2 to get the HTC desire as I was getting a much better deal with cashback than any vodafone deal (£20 a month versus £30).

Anyway I rang for my PAC code and was surprised to be offered the next day the Desire for free on a 24 month contract with 300mins and unlimited texts/web for £20 a month. This is £10 a month cheaper than their website! (although their website does give more minutes). As I will be paying the same as if I went with O2 and will avoid the hassle of having to redeem cashback and change network I took the deal. In fact I'm only paying £5 a month more than my sim only 30 day contract and getting a free £400 phone.

Anyway this seems to be the standard deal they are offering on the HTC Desire. I'm not much of a negotiator and the deal was good so I took it without much hesitation. Has anyone got anything better? I would have liked to get the wifi they give on iphone contracts but I didnt think of asking for it at the time.

    Hi there,
As I was coming to the end of my 18 month contract I contacted vodafone to upgrade to htc desire but was offered the same deal as a new customer. I could have been better off going through cashback website as a new customer. Hence I contacted requesting PAC code and got it within 24 hours. I was looking for £25- 600 mins and web with landline calls on htc desire which was offered by 02 as I have o2 contract as well. I would like to stay with vodafone as signal reception is better on it.

Well - so far Vodafine have managed to update the details of my contract on their website, but it shows no sign of the unlimited data/web that the salesperson agreed. Have e-mailed advising that I am holding them to the contract agreed on the phone but will see what happens as I note that OPs have had issues of Vodafone agreeing one thing but then trying to confirm lesser terms.:(

Just thought I should post a reply since I asked a question along similar lines to your position.I had a problem with the deal I agreed to being different to what appeared on my online account.I had to phone Vodafone on two occasions but I have to say they were very helpfull and pleasant and got the problems sorted so I would suggest getting in touch with them ASAP.I wanted to get it sorted before my 7 day cooling off period ended rather than be stuck with something I didn't agree to.Also, the guy who accepted my request for my PAC was very helpfull as well.Even though he accepted my request he did say he could offer a deal but the Retentions team would phone me and offer something better, which they did.Next hurdle is waiting for the next delivery of Desires!!
