It was the web relations team, I had no luck with retentions, they wanted £100 for the handset on 600mins/unlimited texts/500mb net at £35/month for 18 - its free to new customers!0 -
Well i got the Desire for 20 a month, 300mins, unlimited text/internet, but it was a struggle.. it can be done.... i'm just not sure of the touch screen...0

Been with vodafone for 4 years now but its time to bail out. I may move to O2 on a sim only contract, they are getting cheaper by the day and your aren;t locked into a 2 year contract0

I agreed a deal with retentions but due to the stock issues with the HTC Desire they said they would place a 'pre-order'. They couldn't place the order on their system for the deal we had agreed and they had to pick one of the standard tariffs. They said that once the order was complete they could amend it to reflect the deal as agreed.
They warned me that the confirmation email would state the wrong tariff but that it would be sorted out afterwards.
At the moment I am happy to trust what they told me. Hopefully the stock levels of the Desire will improve. I think the whole pre-order thing was invented fairly recently by retentions to try and stop their customers getting queue jumped by phone and online orders. Usually stock issues aren't this bad and they just allocate phones that are floating around their system. The Desire is so ... well ... desireable ... that as soon as there is any stock it is gone before retentions get a chance.
So I can't say "It'll be alright" but you aren't the only one. Hopefully there are plenty of people in the same boat and retentions are on the case.
At the end of the day my agreement to accept the higher tariff was made at the same time they agreed to manually tweak the contract. If the later gets forgotten about then I am forgetting about the first bit. i.e. it was only verbally during that 1 phone call that I agreed to anything.
I wouldnt trust them. When my phone arrived, the email with PDF confirming my renewal of contract was sent to me. We agreed 18mths and the email said 24mths. It took a month of speaking to various people to get the problem sorted. I vowed when the contract was due for renewal that unless confirmation of what was on offer at renewal was sent to me by email, I wouldnt agree to it and would take my business elsewhere. Not saying I don't believe you but how did you manage that, are you a big spender on Vodafone? I only ask as I've just finished an 18 month contract and was offered the same as you TODAY for £25/month but with a one-off payment of £71 for the Desire. If you did get that deal today then I feel cheated by Vodafone's lack of consistency with the deals being offered.
well here the story..
i requested my PAC code almost a month ago. I was genuinely ready to leave and I had informed them of this. So they called me yesterday before the 30days of the PAC expired. I was on an 18months 35pm contract. I told them £25 was not good enough and that i feel entitled to something better. I said give me £20 and ill take it.
She talked to her manager and told me that it was a one off deal i would be getting. Asked for the deal in black&white and she sent me a text confirmation while i was still on the phone with her.0 -

I'm with Orange but have just got an excellent deal imo for the Vivaz so those on vodafone or other networks could compare it to Orange's deal. I upgraded to the Sony Ericsson Vivaz for FREE and got 800 mins, unlimited texts, 5 photo messages, 500MB Internet access all for £18 a month on an 18 month contract when I had credit applied to my account0

There is a romour on the Vodafone eForum saying that due to the delay Vodafone are shipping the Desire with a free 16GB memory card!

Sealed pot challenge #107 - still going strong0 -
Hi just thought i'd keep you uodated about what I had heard from vodafone . It seems that everyone says they were offered the better upgrade/retention deals by the vodafone web relations team. After reading this I decided to email them and explain what I had already been offered over the phone. I got an email back yesterday and i was offered 18 months, £25 per month 300 minutes, unlimited texts and internet, there is a contribution need to get the handset, that cost is £71.53. And I was told
"This is still cheaper than what you have previously been offered and I know this is cheaper than anywhere I have seen the phone on offer.
This offer is only available through this channel.
Please let us know what you would like to do.
Martin
Web Relations Team"
I dont know if its just me but am I the only one not been offered any of the good deals mentioned here . As i said before I would really like to stay with Vodafone if I can afford to but when there are deals online such as the one above with a free handset , I dont know what to do.
any advice or Ideas greatly appreciated.
