Orange are doing £160 cashback via Quidco on new contracts!!!
My order with Vodafone hasn't arrived and I rang and told them about the Orange deal and the Vodafone sales rep said they will credit my bill with the £10 difference.0 -
I think its a shame i have to sign up as a new customer because I am very happy with vodafone and the service they have provided and would have preffered to stay with them0

just been called by voda. haggled down to £20pm...300mins, untld text, unltd internet, FREE phone.
well chuft.
Not saying I don't believe you but how did you manage that, are you a big spender on Vodafone? I only ask as I've just finished an 18 month contract and was offered the same as you TODAY for £25/month but with a one-off payment of £71 for the Desire. If you did get that deal today then I feel cheated by Vodafone's lack of consistency with the deals being offered.0 -

I found a deal on mobiles.co.uk the other day for a HTC Desire, 12 month contract, 300 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited internet for £40pm. The deal was with vodafone and would cost £29.99 for the handset.
As I'm at the end of my 18 month contract I rang vodafone to get them to match the offer and they said they couldn't. So I asked for my PAC code and that was that.
Then the day after I got a phone call from Vodafone asking why I was leaving etc. I explained and the guy offered to match the deal but with 600 texts and the handset for free.
So I agreed and was told that the handset was out of stock at the moment and that I would receive an email containing the wrong deal information but that he would send an email with all the correct details in.
When I got home and checked my emails there was one stating I'd signed up for a £30pm 24month contract but no second email confirming what was agreed on the phone.
I immediately called up and enquired about why I had not received the correct email. The lady asked me what I agreed and I asked if she could confirm it to me, just to see what had been put on the system as aposed to her just agreeing with what I told her.
She read back word for word what I had agreed (12 months, free handset etc) and said that because it was out of stock the deal would not be changed on my account nor would an email be sent until the phone came back into stock.
1) Does this sound like a strange way to do things?
2) I should be ok given that the deal as agreed is definitely on the system - right?
Basically what I'm after is someone to say "It'll be alright"0 -
I'm in a similar position.
I agreed a deal with retentions but due to the stock issues with the HTC Desire they said they would place a 'pre-order'. They couldn't place the order on their system for the deal we had agreed and they had to pick one of the standard tariffs. They said that once the order was complete they could amend it to reflect the deal as agreed.
They warned me that the confirmation email would state the wrong tariff but that it would be sorted out afterwards.
At the moment I am happy to trust what they told me. Hopefully the stock levels of the Desire will improve. I think the whole pre-order thing was invented fairly recently by retentions to try and stop their customers getting queue jumped by phone and online orders. Usually stock issues aren't this bad and they just allocate phones that are floating around their system. The Desire is so ... well ... desireable ... that as soon as there is any stock it is gone before retentions get a chance.
So I can't say "It'll be alright" but you aren't the only one. Hopefully there are plenty of people in the same boat and retentions are on the case.
At the end of the day my agreement to accept the higher tariff was made at the same time they agreed to manually tweak the contract. If the later gets forgotten about then I am forgetting about the first bit. i.e. it was only verbally during that 1 phone call that I agreed to anything.0 -

I got the same deal as you when I contacted them last week, except they wanted £63.61 for each handset (I got my wife the same deal). I was on a 30-day sim-only rolling contract and my wife is still within the first 12 months of her sim-only contract. I have no idea how they calculate their handset pricing......0 -
Allan87, depends who gave you your offer. Was it upgrades, your first contact with retentions or retentions the day after you requested and received your PAC? It makes a huge difference ...0
