  • Hi all. I was just after some advice if possible.

I am currently on a deal which expires in August giving me 900 unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited internet all for £40 a month. I got a phone call today from Vodafone offering me the new iPhone at £35 a month with 600 mins, unlimited texts and 1gb free of internet a month plus reducing my current contract down to £20 a month until August.

Thus asking me to pay £55 a month until August then £35 a month thereafter.

I haggled and haggled but could not get her to lower the price as ideally would love the new iphone.

Anyone any thoughts on this or had any better luck???

    Many thanks for reading...:)

Well, Vodafone are unable to do any negotiation on the iphone prices as Apple have them tied to a rigid structure (believe me, i've tried)....the bit that baffles me is why have they contacted you 6 months before your contract ends to try to get you to upgrade whilst still requiring you to pay off your remaining deal???

Vodafone are being a bit strange at the moment, maybe because they realise they're beginning to lose a lot of custom to rival providers due to their inability to offer existing customers any incentive to stay.....

  • I'm beginning to think that maybe they are making alot more money on the iphone hence all they care about is getting ppl on the iphone and so they dont really care wat happens to the rest of us who dont want the iphone.

not read anything or anywhere with vodafone offering any discounts on the iphone in anyway,

02 offer free refurbs as new via retentions
02 open scheme with cash back offer
orange have friends and family discount via employees
i'm sure i've read even t-mobile retentions offered something to someone on here
three/3 don't think they do it, but heard some had some deals on the normal 3g
tesco, not bad deal 12 contract if can stump up initial cost of phone
    vodafone....hmmm heard nowt!

actually vodafone not interested much in retentions reading last few pages
  • I've heard absolutely nothing from the Vodafone after several emails to the web team and now their iphone is going back and requesting my PAC code to join the rest on O2!
  • has anyone in the list above responded back to the web relations team? if so, have they responded back? I have now recieved my phone and don't know whether to return it yet, i emailed them and not yet had a reponse. I'll only return/keep it when I'm clear about whether or not they will match o2's offer of a iphone cover. I know its only a mobile phone cover but its the principle of it, I have been a loyal customer and a little bit of goodwill would be nice

I've contacted them twice through their website using the code and never got a reply, I got an error the first time so it may not have gone through though.

I think you hit the nail on the head. The market is such that most current phones are not exciting, the iPhone is ridiculously expensive for what it is (and is being replaced later in the year) and to top it if you shop around there are a lot of cheaper sim only or PAYG offers at the moment, with no comittment .... personally I feel that vodafone have really lost their way a little bit.
  • Does anyone have the guidelines or conditions for returning a phone within the 7day period? I know one of them relates to poor signal. If I return a phone unopened its not a problem, I don't have to give a reason do I?

    Hi all,

I've just re-read my post and it's LONG. Short version = beware of Vodafone CSRs trying to fob you off with inaccurate info. Read through the posts here at MSE and know your rights.

I phoned Vodafone a week ago to upgrade to the new Nokia N900 after browsing their website and viewing this topic regarding other people's tariffs. I'm currently on an 18 month contract with 600 minutes and unlimited texts for £25/mnth but use nowhere near my allowance (only used 20 mins last month!).

The customer service rep, Jamie, was really friendly but could only offer me £40/mnth over 24 months which is basically the same tariff on their website. When I said my contract wasn't up until 7th March and that I'd think about it, he tried to sell me the iphone! What is it with Vodafone and trying to flog the iphone to people who phone up enquiring about a completely different phone? Anyway, I declined after telling him that it would be madness to get an iphone now when they're going to bring out a new one in June.

I phoned 191 today and selected the option that I was thinking of leaving them and got through to Frank, a really rude CSR who didn't know his stuff. After telling him that I'd like my PAC code as the upgrade team couldn't offer me a deal that would suit me, he tried to get me to stay by offering me a deal available on their website for the Nokia 5230. I declined and asked for my PAC code again and he told me that he couldn't release my PAC code unless I paid my final months line rental up front. I told him that I've requested my PAC code before without having to pay money up front and he replied that I could have a word with his manager if I liked. I asked to speak to his manager and after a few minutes of silence, Frank was back and said that he could release my PAC code.

He then asked again if I'd like to pay my last month's line rental up front and I declined, citing that I'll just pay when my contract is up. Oh, and he told me that my PAC code only lasts 14 days. After telling him that it lasted 30 days (thank you MSE!), he conferred with a colleague and then confirmed that it was indeed 30 days.

He then proceeded to tell me that I had 35 days left on my contract and that my PAC code would expire before the end of my contract. I told him that my contract expired 7th March and he said I had 4 weeks left so 4 times 7 = 35 days. I don't know, my mind just wasn't thinking straight and I accepted that I had 35 days left on my contract lol. Anyway, he kept saying that my PAC code would expire before the end of my contract and I kept telling him that I would port my number to another provider before then and I didn't mind losing a week on my Vodafone contract.

Am sad to be leaving Vodafone, been with them for years, they have the best signal/3G and I was looking forward to using a Nokia N900 with them.
  • Hi all,

Firstly I would like to apologise that we have been unable to post on the forums as regularly as we would like. We have been extremely busy working through emails, however we will be getting round to replying to every ones posts ASAP.

Madcelts – Hi Madcelts, could you let us know whether you sent an email to us in the end? We will gladly look into this for you and for your convenience, can hold discussions via email if you are unable to take a call at that point in time, or arrange for a call back that is at the best time for you. I look forward to your reply.

It’s disappointing that we could not offer you a deal that suited you originally and it would be a real shame to lose your custom. I’m certain that we can help you.

Sugarbabe84 – Could you also let us know the reference number from your emails so we can look up your emails and ensure that they have not re-routed to another team. Thanks.

Lara – I’m disappointed to hear that you were unhappy with the original offer. If you’d like to contact us on the link below, we will be more than happy to take a further look into this and find something more suitable for you.

    Hi Espi.

Many thanks for responding to my comments.

I didn't realise that you were so busy, I didn't give it a thought and withdraw my criticising comment.

Yes Jonathon came up with a deal, it wasn't just a good deal, IT WAS A GREEEEAAAAAAT DEAL in my opinion.

So once again many thanks for you reply,

    Albert.:j:beer::rotfl::T:)
