  • Hi newbie here!

I've been with Vodafone for a few years now, and would like to stay with them but don't mind switching if I can get a better deal elsewhere. I'm currently paying about £17 per month for 100 texts and 75mins and a pretty rubbish phone. I don't really use a lot of texts/mins per month, so am looking for something around 15 per month maximum, with a fairly decent phone (obviously I'm not expecting an iPhone for that price though) and possibly some internet usage. Does anyone know what Vodafone are currently offering? Looking on the website at the upgrades I can't see anything worth choosing - O2 and 3 are offering much better deals.

I just want to know what other people have been offered with vodafone, so I know what to try and bargain with them for!
  • Hi Sammyj, Have you tried looking at the deals that are offered on the vodafone website to new customers?

Most companies now hardly do 12month contracts, and i think the contracts they do on 12months arn't good value e.g paying alot more to have a 12 month.

Have you asked bout an 18month? see what you can find on maybe t-mobile and ask them if they can match.
If not then im sorry i cant be much help. good luck, write back with what they offer you .

    12 month SIM only deal
600 mins, unlimited texts and internet, vodafone passport.
£10/month for the first 9 months, rising to £20 for the final three (altohugh I can upgrade in this time).

you got robbed. this is available for £10/month for full 12 months!

I spoke to retentions this afternoon and quoted this and he all but called me a liar. My best offer was

    Samsung Blade
    150 Minutes
    500 Texts
for £12.50 a month on a 24 month contract, this was half price especially for me!!!!

Yet I have just been on the website and...

    Samsung Blade
    300 Minutes
    Unlimited Texts
£20 a month over 24 months (half price of this would only be a tenner and its got better minutes and texts)

I also mentioned to him that I spoke to an Asian sounding guy on Friday who offered me the following

    Nokia 6303
    200 minutes
    250 texts
    for £12.50 a month over 12 months

again I was called a liar (obviously not in as many words) and he apologised for the intrusion and hung up!!

I wish I could get a deal similar to T Mobiles retention offer of 300 minutes and unlimited texts for a fiver :( guess I picked the wrong company to enter into a contract with.

I was texted by PAC number a few days ago, I take it I need to email now to give notification of my 30 day cancellation period. Does anyone know the email address I have to send this to please?

    Hi,

I currently have a 30 day contract with Vodafone at 300 mins and unlimited texts messages at £15.00 per month. However I would like to upgrade my phone but keep my number, I called them on Saturday and was told that I would have to go on a 24 month contract at £20.00 a month. I dont want to be tied in for 24 months! when I told them this they said there was nothing else they could do??

Surely 12 months at £15.00 or £20.00 a month is more reasonable but they dont seem to want to budge, they seem to be pushing the 24 month option. I would rather stick with vodafone as the coverage is very good for where I live and work.

Can anyone help with what my next plan of attack is with Vodafone?

    Sammyj

Sammy, i think you are better off paying a pay as you go phone and keeping your sim only. Phone companies are always trying to make us join for longer :(.

If you really want to go on a 12 or 18 month contract, you are better off quoting a rival network offer. Eg: Orange is selling mobile X for £Y's... can you match it? and threaten with a PAC but you dont have to use the PAC anyway.. just accept the PAC and ignore it. (ignore = continue like nothing happend)
  • Hi there,

I am three weeks away from ending my 18 month contract with Vodafone. Can someone advise me, do i need to give 30 days notice to cancel?

Do i need to request my PAC now?

    Cheers
  • Found the info on the website. Cancellation and PAC code requested. Vodafone have had one week to contact me since my initial post here and susequent email to retentions. Obviously i am not inportant to them so i will take my business elsewhere.

Received a call from the web retention team today.

Anyone hoping to haggle a deal on the iphone with Vodafone......don't bother. They made it clear they were tied to tariffs by apple, and would only be in a position to do 'deals', if and when they get their own refurbs coming in (maybe a few months or longer).

So what it says on their website goes i'm afraid......now where's Tesco :D

I have had a reply from Vodaphone.
    Good afternoon David,
Many thanks for getting back with your account information. I'm really sorry to hear you feel you've had a poor experience on your last contract. As much as I'd love to be able to offer you a one off deal with the iPhone, I'm afraid with that device we are restricted by what Apple allow us to negotiate. The plans online are the same across the board for all customers regardless of usage history, time with the company or payment type.
That being the case, is there any other phone your partner would be interested in that we are allowed to diverge from the norm on? There are loads of handsets on the market right now and a few of them are newer than the iPhone 3GS.
Apologies if this isn't the response you were looking for but I must adhere to the manufacturers remit.
    Kind regards,
    :(

Oh well thanks for the reply, I fail to see why Apple can tell you what you can offer your customers. Vodafone are the ones who charge the line rental and Vodafone are the ones who have ripped of their existing customers by telling lies to them and increasing charges etc (to me included). I would have thought as a gesture of good will they would be offering something but to come back and blame Apple for not being able to do anything in my opinion is shocking. WHY CAN OTHER NETWORKS OFFER INCENTIVES?

I see you have not bothered to reply to me via this site! So I have made public your reply to me.

Looks like I will be moving on!

    But before I go:

If Apple are to blame for this I wonder what the views of Competition Commission ( formerly Monopolies and Mergers Commission) would be on this matter. It would appear "that competition may be being prevented, distorted or restricted in a particular market".

Any legal people or can Martin comment on this?
