Vodafone Retention Deals

I should have phrased it better - what I mean is that I'm not particularly dissatisfied with my current deal and have no technical problems. My current deal is
125 anytime x-net minutes (with unused rollover up to 1 month), 250 txts, passport and Stop the Clock + £5 p/m for 500MB data (18 month commitment) so in total it's £25 per month - last renewal I got a LG Viewty (the handset is perhaps a little disappointing).
My contract is finished at the end of Feb and have to say I am quite disappointed with the renewal deals on offer - none of the handsets on offer are particularly interesting to me and the push seems to be to a 24 month commitment - hence my considering a PAYG deal on another network as I think it will work out substantially cheaper based on my current usage.
So given some of the issues others have had in this thread I can see why perhaps my query might be lower priority.
I see your point. I am looking for something really good as well as i feel i have been let down with an overly expensive contract for 24 months!! I doubt very much Vodafone will match my expectations0 -

Just been told my N96 is not repairable as the chip is cracked. It fell off my belt whilst getting out of lorry cab. Its not insured. The VF shop told me I am tied in to a contract until Feb 2011 and that they will not give me a replacement phone. I'm going to ring Customer Retention and tell them I'm leaving to go to a rival network as they will give me a new phone. What do you think my chances are?"What does not kill you makes you stronger"0

I am afraid that Vodafone is right in that you will be tied in with no prospect of a replacement from them. Perhaps they will offer to sell you a phone so you can continue using the service, however it would be very optimistic to expect a subsidized handset as good as your N96 was. You will need to spend money on a new handset, and I think signing up to a second contract with another network is not the most cost-effective way to go about it. Better to buy a cheap PAYG handset to use until the Vodafone contract expires.0
