Cor blimey. Looking at all the horror stories on here about Vodafone (and given that thus far over about 6yrs I've had none of these problems, apart from one duff handset which was resolved within days) I begin to wonder if now is actually a good time to be moving away from Vodafone and trying something new.

(Edit: In fact maybe even 7 or 8 yrs now I think about it - then again there are horror stories about most nets here.!)

Oh dear, sorry Vodaphone Team but another moan here! Hubby went into the store to look at the deals on I-Phones last weekend. He got talked into upgrading but realised when I pointed it out to him that we cant really afford that commitment at the moment (£45 + £13 insurance per month over 24months = ALOT!!) So within 24 hrs,at the most 48hrs, he phoned up to cancel and ask to remain on his current contract until we were in a position to upgrade , and was told to send an email to a given address which we did(Monday). As of today we have sent 3 emails (one of which I copied and sent to 3 different vodaphone addresses) and made 2 phonecalls to cancel, and still havent received anything to acknowledge the cancellation! For a phone company they dont seem to want to listen!!

Going to call them this afternoon. Have decided to switch handsets to HTC HD2 - exactly the same price issue as with the Touch Pro 2.

And on this one other networks will do this handset. Tarriff I want on Voda is £30 for 24 months, tarriff on T-Mob is £31 for 18 months. Voda want to charge me £100 for a handset which is free on T-Mobile, but if I sign a new contract with Voda Business they give me the £100 to pay for the handset. So the question to Voda Business is - will you give me the handset free as an upgrade.

No, scratch that. Apparently its not an "upgrade". Its a "conversion". I had 3 pointless emails telling me that I couldn't upgrade my handset to a business one on a consumer tarriff. I know. I want a business tarriff. But before I navigate Voda's mindless and frankly perry bureocracy i want to know that they will give me the deal. Sorry to the Voda rep posting on here, but your company has properly hacked me off by its utter inability to have one department talk to another.

If Vodafone don't want my business I'll be off to T-Mobile today! And from what I remember last time I was on contract there they don't treat customers like its the 1970s!
• Hi everyone,

Firstly Kymie, I understand that its worrying for you and you don't want to be stuck with another contract. As the iPhone only launches today presumably you are still waiting for the handset to arrive in which case you can refuse delivery and when this is returned to Vodafone they will reverse the upgrade.

All iPhone pre-orders were locked from being changed yesterday due to the launch today, this may be why your previous attempt's have been unsuccessful. So long as the handset is not picked up in store you will have a 7 day cooling off period (7 days when you can return the phone and cancel the contract) To arrange this you would speak to customer care, 191 free from your Vodafone mobile and they will arrange a returns bag to be sent to you.

Regarding Rochdale Pioneer's, if you e-mail webrelations@vodafone.com (include WRT 135 in the subject heading and a link to this thread), its just a case of changing the account type and they you can upgrade to your HTC HD2. These guys are really good at sorting things out quickly so its worth a shot :)

Hope this helps you both

Holly

I did that. It was terrible! Am going to try phoning now to see if I can get more sense out of the Business team.
• Surprise surprise. I spoke to Vodafone Business and they won't honour the same deal I can get through Quidco as a new customer.

Bye bye Vodafone. I find your attitude to your customers appalling. Off to T-Mobile I go.

Hi Holly, actually thinking back it's more like 4.5 years (prior to that I had T-mobile fo 1 yr and before that I had Vodafone PAYG for 3yrs - hence my confusion)

I don't particularly have any problem/issue specifically it's just that any deals on offer to me to stay on Vodafone are just not appealing at all and that if I can't get what I'd like then I may as well go down to a min tariff and save some money. This is where Vodafone really loose out - my wife is on 3 and if I switch then I get free 3 to 3 saving may substatially.

I'm realistic enough to accept that keeping my exact tariff as is, getting a free iPhone 16GB 3GS and commiting to 24 months isn't going to happen!

Appologies if it sounds like I'm moaning on here that is definitely not the intent (apart from moaning about Apple generally :D) - I'm really just researching to decide what to do. I have the 3 PAYG Sim sitting on my desk now awaiting my Vodafone contract end in a few weeks and pending my final decision.

Do you think it's worth you guys looking into it?
• I just got a call from retentions. I like my current phone so want to keep it and I was interested to see what they could do.
I was offered SIM only 12 months, 600 minutes, unlimited texts, mobile internet for £15.
If I were a new customer I could get a 12 month £20/month SIM with £100 cashback from quidco, so they are not topping their new customer offers with retentions (and I would have got 900 mins). I turned them down to see what the other network's offers are for SIM only.
