Thanks very much that's very helpful. I will phone tomorrow.

It looks like I can get the Blackberry Bold on Orange for £100, with 200 minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited internet for £25 a month, same as what I'm paying now. I will try that with them...

I've just called Vodafone to request my PAC. The person I initially asked wanted to know why I was leaving, I said that I've seen some good offers on the phone I'd like - Sony Ericsson C905. She offered deal matching and put me through to the retentions team. Spoke to a guy who wanted to keep me on the current package due to my usage fitting it well - £25 200 mins free + STC + 200 txts. Said he could offer me the phone free, and that they don't usually offer it free on any tarriff under £40.
    What twaddle - it's on dial-a-phone for free on a £25 18 month contract!

Anyhow he made out that I was asking the earth when I mentioned other networks offering free gifts. 'Noting's for free nowadays' 'you'll end up paying a higher tarriff if you get a free gift' etc. I Told him about a particular deal and he told me it's not a valid offer!! What cheek!
So he said to me 'what is it you want?' (again in a "you're asking the earth" tone) and I replied 'My PAC code please' :D
He asked for the remainder of the contract upfront (which was about £40) and I got my card and paid it - whilst informing him that this 'invalid offer' is actually available right now on mobiles.co.uk. Apparently my PAC will arrive in the post in about 2 days.

Now I've paid out my contract and requested the code, am I likely to get a call back from them to try and keep my custom?

What's the best any of you have been offered on a £25 tarriff?
I'm hoping to get free phone, free insurance (standard with O2) unlimited internet (though I didn't mention this in the call), and hopefully a free gift too! I'd be happy to keep my current tarriff..... must admit tho I don't like 18 month contracts - would I be able to push for a 12 month?

    K

    Anyone?...

He is kind of right about the "nothing's for free" bit..... its normally more cost effective to just go out and buy whatever it is you want rather than get it as a "free" gift.

You need to do your research mate and look at other places what their prices are.

Try e2save, phones4u, carphone warehouse etc...

Agree with you regarding "free gifts"such as PS3 and Wii, if you do the maths compared to what deal you can get if you negotiate you're ultimately paying for these "gifts" via a higher rate monthly tariff. HOWEVER if people want to go down this route I know that DialaPhone and e2save are reliable companies and always deliver on the promised items.

Also, in the past I've done cash back via e2save and never had any problems what so ever (just set yourself calendar reminders on the months you need to send your bill in) and as they're owned by Carphone Warehouse they're less likely to go bust leaving you with no cash back.

My contract is up on the 17th of March but Vodafone allow you to upgrade 2 months before the end of the contract.

My question for one of you experts is, when is the best time to phone up and get the best deal? I can upgrade from tomorrow but should I wait until my contract is actually over on the 17th of March?

    Thanks in advance.

Vodafone do allow you to upgrade 2 months before your contract actually ends but you won't get a particularly good deal. Wait until you're within the 30 days of your contract ending and then phone up to request your PAC code. At this point they'll probably offer you something but it's still best to not accept this offer and still request the PAC code. Hopefully, within a few days you'll receive a call from the Vodafone to "discuss your PAC code request" who, hopefully, will be able to offer you a much better deal as they have more deals/authority available to them.

My advice is read through this thread and get an idea of what sort of deals are realistic and possible - also have a look at other operator deals as this is good "ammuniation" for when you get a call.

Hi, my question is if Toki upgrade his contract on 17 January, then from which date the new contract will be started ? from 17 January or 17 March ? If they upgrade from tomorrow then instead of 12 months it will not be 10 months contract ?
