Hi,
I wanted to change from Vodafone Pay Monthyly to PAYG so I emailed Vodafone and hey emailed me back and said that this was no problem and they would do it in 30 days.
So I never thought any more of it, until I got a call from Vodafone to ask me to stay on pay monthly. I wasnt really interested, as I wanted to get an Iphone so i was going to cancel my contract eventually. My old Contract was working out at about £40 per month, this was including calls and text messages sent and received in the South of Ireland, as I live on the border and would travel to the South quite a lot.
The man on the phone offered me the following...
200 Anytime minutes
Unlimited Text Messages
£9.75 per month on a 12 month Contract...
How could I say no...
Fair enough I didnt get a new phone, but my father had just got an upgrade and didnt want it so he gave it to me.
Very Pleased...and if i do want me iphone later in the year i can just pay off the vodafone contract or give it someone else to use.0 -
You'll only get offered the deals once you've asked for your PAC code - within a couple of days of requesting it the "retentions" team will call you to discuss sending your PAC code and if there is anything they can do to make you re-consider leaving Vodafone. Keep it nice and convivial and you'll be amazed what you'll get - I do it every time I renew and always strike gold.
Following on from my last post, I've just received a call from Vodafone to confirm the cancellation date for my contract. and they have offered me the £9.79 deal - 12month contract - 250mins - 100 texts - RESULT!!!
I did have to tell them that I was going to sign up for another offer at this price and they started to come down in price. They also offered me the same deal for up to 4 Family/Friends - So they are phoning back later to see if my boyfriend wants to sign up.
No upgrade on the phone, but thats OK, my old phone (Nokia N73) is still perfectly OK.
So Thanks MSE you've just saved me approx £160 this year !!!2009 Savings & Winnings so far....Pigsback £15.06 +[strike]£40[/strike] M&S Vouchers + £20 New Look + TNS £15 Capital Bonds + Qype Ninja Goodies + £50 Virgin VoucherSealed Pot Challenge #589 - Target £1500 -
hi
basically im in my last 30 days of contract, called them and asked for my pac code.
they called me today and asked why i was leaving and i said there are better offers elsewhere, they then said oh ok, well here is your pac code and they gave it to me, does this mean they are not going to call again???
he didnt even bother to offer me anything.
does this mean im leaving vodafone for sure? and they wont call again?0 -

You need to relax dude - they will call you, just give it time. Don't worry about it. Trust me.0 -

I'm not so sure.....you say you had requested your PAC code, they then phoned you (assuming that's the "retentions department") and they didn't offer anything and agreed to give you the PAC code, sounds like they've gone through the outgoing customers procedure - who knows maybe they'll call again?
Anyway, you aren't leaving Vodafone - if you don't use the PAC migration code within it's 30 days life span so I wouldn't worry that much0 -
I have been told that if I want any upgrade that I now have to pay as Vodafone are cutting back due to the resestion
500 mins
100 texts
£25 per month
They upgraded me from 200 mins when I went over this amount for two months running in september
Contract ends on the 24/1/09
I would really like the blackberry storm but they want £225
Any ideas

I've just called Vodafone to request my PAC. The person I initially asked wanted to know why I was leaving, I said that I've seen some good offers on the phone I'd like - Sony Ericsson C905. She offered deal matching and put me through to the retentions team. Spoke to a guy who wanted to keep me on the current package due to my usage fitting it well - £25 200 mins free + STC + 200 txts. Said he could offer me the phone free, and that they don't usually offer it free on any tarriff under £40.
What twaddle - it's on dial-a-phone for free on a £25 18 month contract!
Anyhow he made out that I was asking the earth when I mentioned other networks offering free gifts. 'Noting's for free nowadays' 'you'll end up paying a higher tarriff if you get a free gift' etc. I Told him about a particular deal and he told me it's not a valid offer!! What cheek!
So he said to me 'what is it you want?' (again in a "you're asking the earth" tone) and I replied 'My PAC code please'
He asked for the remainder of the contract upfront (which was about £40) and I got my card and paid it - whilst informing him that this 'invalid offer' is actually available right now on mobiles.co.uk. Apparently my PAC will arrive in the post in about 2 days.
Now I've paid out my contract and requested the code, am I likely to get a call back from them to try and keep my custom?
What's the best any of you have been offered on a £25 tarriff?
I'm hoping to get free phone, free insurance (standard with O2) unlimited internet (though I didn't mention this in the call), and hopefully a free gift too! I'd be happy to keep my current tarriff..... must admit tho I don't like 18 month contracts - would I be able to push for a 12 month?

Was that you ringing up and asking for an upgrade?
They will tell you any bull$h1t to keep you paying your cash.
Its simple if you follow this guide:
1. When in the last month of your contract (or over your contract) research other deals out there to see what is available.
2. Ring your network and tell them you want to give 30 days notice to cancel. However please see the last line of this post. They may well just give you your PAC and let you leave... I never go over my free minutes and texts though and they always fight to keep me.
3. They will put you through to the retentions team who will ask why you are leaving. Explain nicely that you have found a better deal with another network. They will ask what the deal is and then make you an offer.
4. Usually they won't try and beat your other offer if its a really good deal, but instead will just generally talk rubbish about why you are better with them, the other deal is crap etc.
5 When they do finally make you an offer, you can accept or reject. If you decide to reject then give your 30 days notice (request your PAC if you want to keep your number) and then end the call.
6. With any luck, you will get a call a few days later - make sure you answer it. They will say they are going to give your PAC but before they do, can they ask why you are leaving.
7. They will now repeat the earlier process asking what the better deal is. This is the person best able to match the other deal. Again, they will make an offer and you can accept or reject. If you reject here, there is a good chance they won't come back again. Although that doesn't mean you should accept their first offer.
When I quote other deals, I always take into account Quidco so for example, if the deal is £20 a month but Quidco is £60 then when I phone them up I will say that I have seen a deal for £15 a month after cashback (don't say Quidco, just say cashback and let them think its a "send your bill in" type of cashback.
You have to be prepared to leave and if you are then that puts you in a strong position.0
