You'll only get offered the deals once you've asked for your PAC code - within a couple of days of requesting it the "retentions" team will call you to discuss sending your PAC code and if there is anything they can do to make you re-consider leaving Vodafone. Keep it nice and convivial and you'll be amazed what you'll get - I do it every time I renew and always strike gold.

However, my wife gets the price for best deal last time she renewed in 2007:

    - Sony Ericsson K850i phone (At the time it was top camera phone and had only been out for two weeks, equivalent of todays Sony Ericsson C905)
    - 180 minutes talk time
    - 100 texts
    - 12 month contract

Price = £9.50 per month permanently (not limited to the twelve months).

Are you sure that the retentions team only call when a pac code is requested and not also when a customer sends a letter of cancelation.

I just phoned up to try and cancel within the 14 days and i got put through to the 'returns team', i didn't actually speak to them though as i spent 5 minutes on hold and didn't have any longer to wait. I'm just curious though if they will just arange to return the phone or are they the team who will let me negotiate a better plan/get more texts?

I spoke to the returns team today and they would not budge on the deal that my daughter had agreed to, £25 for a 18 months deal, for a SE C902 600 mins + unlimited texts, so they are sending a jiffy bag to return the phone. She had phoned for an upgrade, the contract has 2 months to end, so will cancel in a month's time and see what they offer then.

My contract ends in a couple of weeks or so - should I start negotiating?

Anytime 150 minutes - I made an alteration last year, and I think I get something like 100 minutes and 500 texts for £25 a month.

I need a new phone too.

The new vodafone simonly deals start off at 100m/500txt for £10 and 200m/unl txt for £15, so could quote these if not wanting a new phone yet.
