Vodafone Retention Deals

Hi, my question is if Toki upgrade his contract on 17 January, then from which date the new contract will be started ? from 17 January or 17 March ? If they upgrade from tomorrow then instead of 12 months it will not be 10 months contract ?
You can upgrade early but your commitment to Vodafone would then be until 17 March 2010 (if upgrading with a twelve month contract), unfortunately you don't loose that two months.0 -
Hi, my contact is due for renewal and I would just like to be clear on what would happen if I decide to move to a deal or a new tarrif without a new phone. Will I loose my entitlement to an upgrade for the future?
There are no phones that I really want at the moment, and mine is OKish - but I reckon there is a good chance it will die in a few months as it keeps turning itself off at the moment & has a couple of other intermitant problems.
If I chose to take sim only and then wanted a phone after a few months (I'd be prepared to tie myself into a contract at that point) then where would I stand on being entitled to a new handset?
Thanks for your help.0 -

If you went on a standard SIM only contract (only 30 days notice required) then you most likely wouldn't negotiate a cheaper price - you'll only get discounts if you do a 12 or 18 month commitment. If you re-negotiate now with a commitment and don't take a new mobile phone then if your phone dies during the new contract you won't get a new replacement without paying full price for it.
At the moment you can do one of two things:
1. Re-negotiate when you're in your last 30 days of your current contract and get a new phone at the same time. You'll pay more than if you had only gone for minutes/texts without phone but will probably still get a good deal depending on what phone you are after.
2. Just ask to go on a 30 day rolling SIM only contract when your current contract is up and when your phone eventually dies phone up to cancel contract (request PAC Code) and then, at that point, do as detailed in point 1.
What I wouldn't do is re-negotiate now with twelve/eighteen months contract and not take a new phone as if and when your current phone dies (and it sounds like it's heading that way) you'll be liable to pay for a new phone yourself until the contract/commitment you are in expires.
Have a read through the thread to see what others have achieved and how the whole thing works.0 -

Hello All
I posted on the board last week to let you know of my success with my Contract renewal, however I thought I'd better warn you to check the written contract carefully as soon as it arrives...
I was sent a written copy of my contract yesterday and even though I had originally agreed to a 12 month contract at £9.79 the written contract said "50% Discount for 12 months - Contract 18months" which would result in me paying £19.58 for the remaining 6 months!! Not Happy!!
I was on the phone straight away, told them it wasnt what I agreed to and they managed to get it down to a 12 month contract (as agreed). But they said that they can only do this as i'm still within the 14 day cooling off period... Phew!!
But for those people who dont open their Mail straight away or are forgetful (usually me!) they could be in for an expensive 6months at the end of the contract.
It's a good way to get extra money out of people Vodafone!!2009 Savings & Winnings so far....Pigsback £15.06 +[strike]£40[/strike] M&S Vouchers + £20 New Look + TNS £15 Capital Bonds + Qype Ninja Goodies + £50 Virgin VoucherSealed Pot Challenge #589 - Target £1500 -

Interested myself actually. I have already been made an offer by retentions which I said I consider. Called yesterday to request my PAC code again, and they said they would send it - they did mention that the signal was terrible, and I had to go upstairs to hear them!
I want to get a new phone on another contract now, but if they suddenly call with an amazing offer, I could end up with two...0 -
Does anyone know if they will stock the N85 as only Phones4u seem to have this phone on vodafone0
