Just been offered a Sony C905, 500mins xnet, 100 txt for £24 pm on a 12 month contract. I see people on here have been given free internet and email, should I call back and ask for this also or am I being greedy!!!

My best tip is for you get unlimited Internet/web access into the contract somewhere. Drop some minutes or texts and get web browsing in its place.

It'll save you a fortune as I have had the C905 for two weeks and it has a really good and easy to use web browser built into the phone. Great phone all around.

Otherwise I think you have got the best deal you're gonna get from Vodafone for this phone.

I think thats a bad move, I was called on an almost weekly basis to upgrade but since i've got my PAC, not even a single call!

That's good then ;) I don't want them to call, I want an iPhone, I want a provider with a semi respectable website that wasn't written by an imbecile, I want a provider that doesn't write to me 2 months after agreeing to a 18 month contract that MMS and WAP is no longer included in my plan, oh yeah, and a provider that actually tells me my contract is 18 months rather than letting me find out when the paperwork comes through.

    Hi, hope someone can advise...

I've been with Vodafone for 4 years - started on a special deal for £12/month and since then have never paid more than £15/month. Recently I've been paying £15/month for 300 AT/AN mins and 500 texts, and stop the clock, which I agreed over the phone on the basis that I was sacrificing my entitlement to a phone upgrade (fine by me).

However, when my December bill came, it was for £30, so I phoned and was told that I'd been on a 9 month half price offer, in an 18 month contract. Well I have no way of proving it but I am 100% certain I NEVER would have agreed to that! So it's either a complete lie now, or I was misled at the time into agreeing to it. Surely the whole point is that I agreed to not have an upgrade (in fact I haven't had an upgrade in the whole time I've been with Vodafone) in exchange for a low monthly tariff.

Anyway, I said I'm not paying £30/month, what can you do? She said she couldn't do anything, that was what I'd agreed. I said fine, I'll cancel my contract. She said fine, but you'll have to pay £270....!!! Obviously I wasn't going to do that, so asked again what my options were and she said the only thing she could do was to downgrade my tariff until August to 50mins and 150texts, for £20/month. I was feeling stressed and was at work at the time so agreed.....but now I'm feeling angry because I'm sure I've been screwed over!

What are my options? Do I have any right to demand a better deal? Firstly I'm sure the half price for 9 months thing was plain wrong, and Secondly 50mins/150 texts for £20/month is a rubbish alternative, considering I haven't upgraded my phone in 4 years...........!

    Please help, thanks

Unless you have any proof of the deal that you agreed to then its your word against theirs...

    It sucks!

BB1984 its really your fault - i'm not having a go at you, its just the enourmous amount of posts people saying mobile phone providers have ripped them off.

I always say time and time again, always make sure you know exactly what you are getting!

For example I recently got a second line with Vodafone - it was a free deal once I sold the handset, but none-the-less I still wrote down who I talked to, at what time, on what date.

I then repeated the deal BACK to him and made sure he and I were on the same page!

When taking out a phone contract there it ONLY 3 things you need to consider yourself with:

    1) The length of the contract
    2) Price per month FOR EACH month of the length of the contract.
    3) Mins/txts you will be getting & handset.

Thats about it, this is the bare minimum, if you contract is a little more complex write stuff down accordingly.

However the most important thing to remember is NOT TO TRUST ANYONE - no matter how nice the other person is you have to remember they are out to make a sale - hence some will try to be 'efficient with the truth' other CS reps might have just made a genuine mistake.

I would even ring back and speak to another operator and check if they have put this on the system as you agreed on the same day.

TBH rash, "writing stuff down and repeating back to them" is about as much use as a chocolate tea pot if you encounter a dishonest sales person....

The only true way to protect yourself is a) record your calls with them (which they have to consent to and doubtless won't) or b) get everything in writing (which they probably won't do)...

The reason they won't put stuff in writing / let you record calls is for exactly this reason - they know it can be used against them.

BTW when I got my last deal from Voda, it took me ages to finally get correct confirmation of what deal I was on in writing but finally got it on an e-mail.
