  • Afternoon all :hello:

WFH today so I've been busy, not even managed to sneak out anywhere! Good for Moneysaving though!

    Today:

Used blanket to keep me warm whilst working
Radiator shuffle from overnight washing whilst they were on
Veg goulash from yesterday or lunch, DH had left overs
May make some soup later if I get chance
check banking (have £69 dividend payment tomorrow that I wasn't expecting ;))
    check surveys, fpl and £co
check fridge for things to be frozen or left overs to use
meal plan I didn't do yesterday

Thanks for the seeds tips everyone, foxgloves hope everything is ok - thinking of you

  • Hi everyone :hello:
I didn't get the nap as planned this afternoon. Once the Calpol takes hold ds is like his normal old self. He's asked to go out and play (which much to his disgust I haven't allowed) so I predict we'll be back at work and school tomorrow unless it catches up with me overnight.

I gave up guilt last year - it's incredibly liberating cat, no point to it, it does not good whatsoever. Now I do the best I can, if it's something I can do to help the situation I do and then know I've done everything I can and if I can't do anything about the situation I let it go as there's no point fixating on it

This is brilliant advice DNMS - I wish I knew how to follow it. Guilt is what I live on, and I wish I could just let go of it. Thanks everyone else for the well wishes - they are appreciated. FvD - hope that your interview went well. Fingers crossed for you.

    Morning all :D :coffee:
    [STRIKE]:) check banking and PAD[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]:) hoover through[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]:) get a load of washing done[/STRIKE]
:) carve up leftover roast beef and freeze
    [STRIKE]:) look after poorly ds[/STRIKE]
:) nap if I need to
:) try not to stress (this is hard work at the moment)

I've had a reasonably successful day. Done lots of crochet and not a lot else really :o

    Greetings Monday Money-wranglers,
Thanks for all your good wishes. Survived hospital appointment. Am going to try a relatively new drug treatment before the nuclear surgical option, so feeling reasonably positive. With that & having to prepare for a meeting tomorrow, I haven't achieved much today. The money saving bits are:
*2 baths from 1 lot of hot water (though I could defo hear mr f topping it up!)
*Overnight cheap laundry on heated airer. Washer will be re-set for same again tonight as it's half the daytime tariff, so silly not to use it.
*Did a survey & will be starting a longer paper one for which the payment will be £15.
*Cooked some of our homegrown stored apples. They've kept really well since autumn, just wrapped individually in newspaper, but they need using up now, so I'm going to replace some of my fresh fruit intake with stewed. A few pennies saved there until they're all gone.
    *Updated budgets.
*Defrost things needed for tomorrow for all 3 meals. Forgetting to get stuff out of the freezer used to lead us down the 'calling in at Waitrose' or takeaway path so often back in the naughty old days.
*Wrote birthday card to friend. Card from stash....originally from a batch of cards found my mr f at work which nobody claimed & nobody wanted. They were nice cards & free so I had them.
    *Wrote letter (recycled envelope)
*Finish sock. Or at least try to finish it. I want to take these & a pair of my hand knitted baby socks to the Post Office tomorrow to get a definitive price on 2nd class postage as there has been a discrepancy in the past & I have become unsure what to charge people.
*Received reply about broken radiator. Despite it only needing a leg, which is easy peasy for us to attach with 2 screws, there are no legs in stock & no radiators either! So we are apparently going to receive a refund. No sign of it in account yet. Will check again tomorrow. Infuriating, as product was fantastic & made a huge difference to our very chilly house, so it's back to the drawing board. We have complained about the instruction manual which clearly stated that replacement parts are available through phoning a particular number, as mr f tried that & it was pretty obvious they hadn't even heard of the heater, let alone got a stash of its associated spare parts. Grrrr.
OK, off downstairs to marinate chicken drumsticks now. Hope everyone's got off to a decent start to the week......except CCL of course, ewwwww......good job I didn't have any children, I am absolutely the world's worst with puke! Hope he's better tomorrow.

  • Hi everyone,

Hope you all had a good weekend and hope you are all having a good Monday.

I've spent the weekend getting to grips with YNAB and really pleased with it.

    This week I have/will:
*unlikely to be any NSDs as working out of the country but will try to keep unnecessary expense down
    *couple of bits to sell
*food from stores as far as possible

    Have a good week, everyone.

  • CCL years ago I would tell work that I was sick instead of the kids, somehow that seemed more acceptable. Totally stupid but that was how I was made to feel.

Enjoy Luckypenny India sounds very excited.

Fingers crossed for the treatment Foxgloves.

Another visiting hospital today - DS had his regular treatment - and I swear that it is the last time I pay for hospital food, it was awful. Next time I am taking my own like we used to do.

Forgot to take chicken out of freezer for tea, DH said he would sort tea but a bit of a misunderstanding lead to cross words between the two of us and nothing for tea. Emergency fish fingers and oven chips are called for. I am still peeved, tired too which doesnt help.
  • Oooh exciting news, have just found out that the person who owes DH money has paid half the bill. Only half, but still. Mind you I would be embarrassed to admit that I had got a tradesperson in to do a job (which wasnt exactly essential) then didnt have the money to pay them in full and still owed them £70 4 months after having the job done!

Well, I'm back from my interview and guess what, I got the wrong frickin' branch :o:rotfl: They called ahead for me and said I would be late and I high tailed it over there but I don't really want it (not that they will probably offer it to me anyway, I know I wouldn't :rotfl:) The shop is old, tatty, unbearably hot at the till (overhead heater) and very muddled and nearly half an hour away by car which doesn't feel local enough to make it worth the drop in salary.

What I am going to do though is now look for jobs at another two GS closer to home (the one I thought it was doesn't have any vacancies.)

In other news my mum sent me home with another carrier bags of books for WBB and I have a migraine :(

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi All

Busy day just sitting down for 5 mins before the bedtime madness begins.

DD had her 16 month MMR booster first thing, so she is now done till she is 3.5.

Had to go and sign off my last year's accounts at the accountant too. Glad that's done.

Finalised FD account switch so that's due to complete on the 14th.

Chicken with pasta and veg using up yesterday's roast bits for dinner.

Dawn Did the magazine cheer you up?

Foxgloves Glad you don't have to have an op just yet.

Cat Hope your son is fully recovered by tomorrow and doesn't spread the joy to other family members.

Yorkshire that is very cheeky. But I am learning that nothing is impossible where payment is concerned.

    Night all

    Evening all :hello:

Crikey FvD, what a palaver! Glad you found it eventually - and good for you making the decision that it doesn't suit you. Nice to be able to choose :) Good luck with something else - always good to refine what you want I think :j

(((foxgloves)))) lots of good vibes coming your way for the treatment xx

    :)

Not much to report today. Mr Cheery came with me to work and we had breakfast in the cafe - not free but only £4.80 between us, and got him up and about early (and he helped me with a bit of work too ;) ) No spending for the rest of the day - took home made soup, bread and treats, and got the freezer filled for the rest of the week too.

Washing machine is on (will dry stuff on radiator) and just having sausage, mash and green beans from the meal plan for tea :j

Back tomorrow - still probably nothing to report but I guess 'uneventful' is usually good where money is concerned :rotfl:
