Doh! Just realised that when I was confessing how much we used to spend on food shopping earlier, I typed £400 a week......even we weren't that bad.....it should have said 'monthly' not weekly! (& there were frequent top-ups too which never got counted).
Dawn - That's a big worry for you. Hope things turn out ok. Keep busy so you don't overthink things, but have some all important leisure/relaxation time for yourself too. I can really emapathise at the moment.

Foxgloves I agree, I totally changed my outlook on food shopping a few years ago too. Now I shop on the basis of how much I can afford to spend and what we actually need. Mealplanning is so important to me too with being so busy.
Have spent a lot of time dithering about getting a new rug for the kitchen, we have one of those flatweave rugs and the backing is coming off it so its getting a bit of a hazard. I may actually just bin it and not bother - then again it possibly stops dirt getting trampled onto the carpets elsewhere.
Chilli and jackets for tea, lots of paid stuff still to do. Need to update my finance spreadsheets too.0 -
Foxgloves - you are amazing, and an inspiration - thank you. Your post really struck a chord with me; I could have written it myself. Food is a terrible downfall for me, if I'm tired, or I've had a bad day etc. I'm also bad for popping out for a pint of milk and spending more money than I need to. The only issue I see is that I'm really not much into cooking at all, and the four of us never seem to eat the same things so dinner time can become a real chore.
I know it's only day 2 but we've done ok so far. The kids want to go to Alt0n T0wers again so they are well motivated to save at the moment.
Dawn - thinking of you and hope that you're doing ok.
Lots of love and hugs to all that need.
So, I had planned a nsd today but that was scuppered when naughty tortie had to go back to the vet for a check on her cystitis. It cost me £30 to be told that she's lost more weight, had an empty bladder so she can't be tested, and needs to go back again in another week. DD and I are in the process of feeding her everything that we can find in the hope that she'll gain weight again before next week. I've also been asked to try and get a sample from her :rotfl: :rotfl::rotfl:
Other than that - nsd
Busy and productive day at work. Still behind on my marking but ok on other stuff. Half term is also in sight... I'm really looking forward to some sleep actually

I am have been terribly lazy today so must have a word with myself!
Did manage gym though with sauna and steam room so feeling refreshed. Put 5lbs on last week which I think is due to actually eating regularly so have booked a free session with a trainer for next week to make a plan for myself.
Took a unidentified meal out of freezer so will see how/what that is in a bit.
Will start my shopping list tonight to start planning as I know I need certain things like hand soap...keep meaning to look at making my own natural products but lets not run before I can walk! :rotfl::rotfl:Happiness is wanting what you have...0 -
Afternoon all
Congrats to FVD
((Hugs)) to those who need them
Didn't post yesterday as I had little GD all day - also had a phone appointment with the doctor about the recent tests I have been having. Not great news, more tests needed in 3 months, and then probably a hospital referral (unless the problem just disappears in the next 3 months, which is unlikely apparently, but possible)Anyway, the surgery tell me I can't make an appointment for 3 months time, so I have noted on the calendar to do so nearer the time, and in the meantime, unless I get one of a specific list of symptoms which would mean immediate referral, I will forget all about it till then! Thanks for good wishes, I am not in any pain, just a bit washed out. No point in worrying, so I am trying to put it out of my head!
Feeling a bit lazy today, and must get on and do something in a minute, but so far:
Dog walk
Found an ebay item that sold yesterday
Listed 2 more things, very slow at the moment though
Made parsnip soup for lunch (and there is enough left over for at least one more lunch for OH and I)
Load of washing, currently blowing on the line in the freezing wind
Used one of those 'charity' clothes bags that appear through the door most days as a bin bag. There are plenty of charity shops in town, to which I donate regularly. And looking at the small print on the bag, this isn't actually a charity at all, but a private company that pledges to donate a certain amount to charity... so a bin bag it is!
A few surveys for onepoll, plus RM surveys tasks
Sent OH shopping - he has a list, but goodness knows what he will come back with
Still to do:
Another dog walk Done, they were both driving us mad, so OH and I took both dogs to the park for a good run around
Make fajitas for dinnerDone, a great success with OH and DS :rotfl:
Get washing in and finish off on airer overnight Very nearly dry, so I think it can go straight in the airing cupboard :T
Do some cleaning tasks - I try to do some every day, as I don't like it and don't want to be overwhelmed by it all needing done at onceNot done
Wrap ebay item and put it aside, as the buyer asked me to hold off posting till next week as she is away. I will do what I do with the RM surveys bits, and label with a post it note showing date it needs to goDone, also sold and wrapped 2 more items ready to post tomorrow :T
Put away the 2 items I listed today, as they don't need to take up residence on the dining table! Not done yet
Also made some dough, ostensibly for hot cross buns in the BM, but didn't hear the beeping noise to add the fruit, so it didn't get addedHowever, converted them to chelsea buns instead by rolling out and layering fruit etc, then rolling up like a swiss roll. They look ok!
More onepoll surveys, including one that paid £1 :T
Received an offer code from Campbells meat plus free delivery, so ordered a meat box - since DS has been here, the freezers are going down, and it looks a lot of meals for £29 delivered

Evening all,
Thanks for all the congratulations though I'm not sure how many are warranted for bagging a minimum wage job that I almost managed to screw up before the interview had even started! :rotfl:
DNMS I'm sure I can manage on a lot less money, I have done it in the past and I will just have to do it again. I think it's going to come as more of a shock to the rest of the household :rotfl:
I've just sold something else on eBay and done another package for WBB.
I got a free loaf, a pack of cheese triangles, some spare ribs and a hair product from the free table today. I'm going to miss my freebies.
DH popped into the Mr T earlier and said there wasn't anything exciting in the YS cabinet so I didn't bother going then realised we'd run out of cheese to go on our spag Bol (made by DH with our 45p organic YS mince!) so ended up going down anyway just after reduction time and it was pandemonium!
All the usual suspects were there but a couple had empty baskets because there are more 'new' regulars now and there wasn't much to go around to start off with. They didn't look very happy and I *may* (definitely) have been the one that told one of the new people to hang around for 7.30pm the other night when he was about to buy some stuff at first reduction price about 10 minutes before final reductionsMrs Hide-stuff-at-the-back was complaining that too many people knew about it now and nice lady had a totally empty basket and a grumpy expression
Anyhow, lunch today was my YS sausage rolls and some crisps (Foxgloves, they are my downfall too) and then I went out to buy a pair of black trousers for my new job. I tried on a pair in Matal@n and they fitted but boy were they an eye opener  I never wear trousers, I either wear dresses or leggings with a long top over. I ended up buying a much more expensive pair in a nicer fabric (a bit like stretch jeans) and with little zips on the ankles so I can still look a bit rock'n'roll in my uniform :rotfl: I get very nervous wearing cheap trousers after an incident at a theme park when, unbeknown to me, my cargo pants split and a stranger had to tell me I was walking around with one cheek hanging out :rotfl:
The postman delivered an Am@zon package today (correct address but never heard of the person) and DS opened it and it contains an Am@zon gift card  I've no idea what to do with it, can I keep it? And how can I find out how much is on it? (It's in a thing shaped like a cup cake, never seen anything like it before.)Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

Okay, I know how much is on the gift card, (£20), it was on the delivery note :rotfl:
I also know it was sent for a 2nd birthday but the name doesn't match the people that moved out and I'm sure they had a boy and not a girl. I've tried looking for the sender on Facebook but there's quite a few of them. It's from an aunt and uncle, surely they would know they had moved?
Hmmm, want to keep it but fearing the karma :eek:Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)
