    Hi February Folks,

Busy day ahead; DW is fortifying me with a large home-cooked breakfast.

Congratulations FVD, love, sympathy and thoughts to everyone else as appropriate.

Debt Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Two:

    * Work, starting an hour early.

    * "Free" hospital appointment. This one is going to be a bit of a make or break-er. Sigh.

    * Return to work and finish shift.

    * Checked payslip. Not been paid the rate I was expecting so with sort that out later.

    * Check online banking.

Well the worlds gone mad...at least in my little bubble! It took 90 mins to do a school run that is usually 20 mins max. Seems there has been a few accidents locally and fire engines were out etc. so can't be too miffed at being stuck as at least we were safe. Thing with where I live is there are only two main routes and they both had accidents so essentially locked us in.

Not much going on here today as I sorted budget etc out yesterday and paid CC...I think I actually don't have any nagging admin in my head?

    So...
*Washing mountain (one of those I think I might just catch up feelings, knowing damn well I won't!)
*General tidying when taking a break/waiting for kettle etc
    *get some work done
*Ted talk whilst doing work that doesn't need my brain
*Gym...already booked so I have no choice but to go! :D
*Food will be a mix of stuff in a wrap for lunch and something easy from freezer possibly h/m dahl and rice for after gym.

Cupboards are starting to look a little bare and in some ways this is quite nice as less to contend with but it does make me anxious too - think because as a kid my mum preferred a fortified liquid diet to buying food so we were hungry quite a lot...amazing how this journey makes you address why you do what you do.

Anyway, I am not a dwell on it kind of girl; acknowledge it, accept it, move on is more my thing. I don't need tins and tins or a freezer stacked of food in the house in order to be secure, we have what we need and we have the means to get what we need for now :)

Have a good day people! I am hoping for a productive one!

    Greetings Thursday Penny Savers,
Well, an NSD today. I started on my new drug treatment last night - just one tablet a day, so no inconvenience but a side effect can be dizziness/vertigo, so I thought I would stay at home for a couple of days to see if it affects me. So far, so good........& because I'm at home, I'm being really budget-focused. So today's things:
    *Updated budgets.
*Spent some time in kitchen investigating food that needs using up. Stored home grown apples - stewed more of these as they won't last beyond the end of next week. Will continue to eat as fresh fruit substitute/breakfast, etc, 3 carrots - will grate one & do mr f a hummous & carrot cob for tomorrow's packed lunch & chunk the other 2 up for chucking in his lunch box as a snack. 1 wrinkly kiwi fruit.....will add to my lunch today. We aim for zero food waste in our house.
*Changed bed linen & loaded it into washer for a cheap overnight wash.
    *Did a few surveys.
*Checked account to see if refund for pesky radiator has appeared. Nope!
    *Paid my CC in full.
*Finalised what I'm cooking for Valentine's night.
    *Did next week's meal plans.
*Very economical meal tonight - rajma curry - it's a punjabi recipe using red kidney beans & it's really tasty but as cheap as chips to make. Low calorie too......very important in the mr & mrs f household at the moment!
*Work on current knitting project which is knitting 1 pair of baby socks from each of the leftover colourways of the sock yarn I used to fulfil my recent orders. That will be 4 nice chunky little pairs in good strong colours....will list on ebay or save for my sister's craft fair later in the year. It's a nice way of making a little bit more money from the yarn I've already bought for something else, so maximises resources.
*Wrap birthday presents using materials from my recycled wrappings box & home made gift tag. This fell off my list yesterday when I got side-tracked by ebay.
Time to go & find some lunch......best wishes to all....especially people with cat traumas, injuries, hospital appointments, poorlinesses & all the other things that life seems to be throwing at us all at the moment.

CCL - You'll be amazed what you can knock off your food bill. What a good idea to use the thought of doing something nice together in May as motivation for the cutbacks. You probably won't believe this knowing how budget-focused I am these days, but before the LBM struck, our weekly grocery shopping bills was quite regularly around £400..................& that's without the takeaways, lunches out & evening trips to the shop on the 'crisps, chocolate & beer run'.......(only we didn't run!!)
I know there are only 2 of us (& one v greedy cat) & 4 of you (& lots of cats!) but the principles will be just the same. For us, it came down to planning (most useful), batch-cooking & trying out new economical recipes to keep our daily meals fresh & interesting. I bet you already shop around already. We reckoned we saved about £30 a week just swapping our fruit & veg buying to the local market. I think everyone's different in how they approach this, & we are obviously helped by the fact that we both love cooking & I have more time in the day, whereas I know how busy you are & you've often said you don't like prepping food ingredients. We have cut down on buying things like crisps (which we can both overeat espec mr f!) by working out what's a reasonable amount of crisps for us both for a week. We decided, given poor nutritional content, that this is 1 packet each a day, max, so we aim to buy just those (helps with my weight too, as I can't eat what isn't there). These are divvied up into our snack boxes in the pantry. If mr f wants to eat all 7 bags on one weekend, that's absolutely fine & completely up to him, but there won't be any to put in his packed lunches.......funny how the thought of this cut out massive crisp-snaffling within one week!! Before having a proper food budget, we'd just have gone out & bought loads of top-ups. When we were both working, the worst temptations re food budget-wreckage were things I know you will really identify with: Mad days at work, late shifts, problems with senior management, getting really held up on commute home, forgetting to take intended meal out of the freezer, not having planned anything properly at all, etc, & there we were stopping off to buy whatever we fancied (always expensive because of being tired & fed-up) or phoning for a takeaway. We do sometimes still treat ourselves for a takeaway, but it's a genuine treat now, not a default setting for a difficult day or poor planning on our part.
If you can save that £100 a month, it will be an amazing boost as when you're doing whatever nice thing you decide on in May, it will feel a bit like you are doing it with 'free' money!
    Good luck!!

    Afternoon all :)
    Congrats to FVD :)
((Hugs)) to those who need them :(
Didn't post yesterday as I had little GD all day - also had a phone appointment with the doctor about the recent tests I have been having. Not great news, more tests needed in 3 months, and then probably a hospital referral (unless the problem just disappears in the next 3 months, which is unlikely apparently, but possible) :( Anyway, the surgery tell me I can't make an appointment for 3 months time, so I have noted on the calendar to do so nearer the time, and in the meantime, unless I get one of a specific list of symptoms which would mean immediate referral, I will forget all about it till then!

Feeling a bit lazy today, and must get on and do something in a minute, but so far:
    Dog walk
Found an ebay item that sold yesterday
Listed 2 more things, very slow at the moment though :(
Made parsnip soup for lunch (and there is enough left over for at least one more lunch for OH and I)
Load of washing, currently blowing on the line in the freezing wind
Used one of those 'charity' clothes bags that appear through the door most days as a bin bag. There are plenty of charity shops in town, to which I donate regularly. And looking at the small print on the bag, this isn't actually a charity at all, but a private company that pledges to donate a certain amount to charity... so a bin bag it is!
A few surveys for onepoll, plus RM surveys tasks
Sent OH shopping - he has a list, but goodness knows what he will come back with

    Still to do:
    Another dog walk
    Make fajitas for dinner :)
Get washing in and finish off on airer overnight
Do some cleaning tasks - I try to do some every day, as I don't like it and don't want to be overwhelmed by it all needing done at once :(
Wrap ebay item and put it aside, as the buyer asked me to hold off posting till next week as she is away. I will do what I do with the RM surveys bits, and label with a post it note showing date it needs to go :)
Put away the 2 items I listed today, as they don't need to take up residence on the dining table!

    Afternoon all

Hope you can manage not to worry Dawn xx

Hugs to you too angelpye, raking through the emotions and memories can be hard sometimes, however pragmatic you are!

Normal day at work here, although only just got round to eating lunch (!)

Got all excited as someone's just putting food out in the work kitchen and that usually means leftovers but looks like someone's ordered it so I can't swipe any, darn it!

    Anyway...
*homemade soup, bread, snacks for work
    * cycle to and from work
    * check banks/ynab
    * goig away for weekend - catered but I don't want to buy snacks so going to make some muffins etc to take with me (and for train)

Need to be organised tonight as Mr Cheery is joining me for breakfast at work (and i have a meeting at 9) and then going straight from work at 2 to train station so need to have whole weekend of stuff ready tonight...

Right, best get back to it!
