Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi Gang

    Hope everyone's well.

CCL Good luck with your child meal organising. I sympathise. I don't have fussy eaters but find the timing thing hard. For example, the children want to eat at 4.30 when we get home from the school run (well mainly DS because DD is still tiny) DH doesn't get home from work till 7pm and he normally does DS bed time routine, which includes 20 minutes of him reading aloud per night, followed by him reading Harry Potter for another 20 minutes, and I do DD. So it's normally 8pm and gone usually 8.30 before we are ready to eat.
If we all ate the same thing it would either be drying up in the oven for hours on end or I'd be reheating so using the oven anyway.
At the weekend it is a million percent easier to eat together.

Hope you have a better night tonight Foxgloves

    Small things today

    1. Checked banking.

    2. Walked an hour to save taking 2 buses on the way to school. Ended up walking most of the walk back too which wasn't ideal but lots more people taking the buses because it was snowing.

    3. Booked a one hour zipcar tonight at £6.65 to do a work trip. Transporting a table from home to the business. First one we've booked in ages. I'd love to add up how much we've saved being car free since 2014.

    4. Made a simple mince and sauce for dinner with pasta for the children. Saved half the mince for another meal.

    5. OH has arranged with our neighbours to take in a piece of kids garden furniture. Saving us money on booking a large item collection with the council.

    6. Got £2 off my shopping with a coupon.

    7. All washing dried on the radiators. 5 loads through since yesterday!

    8. Took a booking today.

    9. Decided to paint the house over half term to use up some pots of white paint we had left from the business.

    10. OH WFH today so his travel was cheaper, and I used his card so no new travel spends.

    Have a good night everyone.

    Bob

  • - Managed to take lunch to work every day this week and I have worked over 5 days.
    - Bought a takeaway on one night but it has covered 2 nights
    - Managed 4 NSD
    - Use Prime trial to get Birthday gift and Party costume for DD
    - Gas bill was high for last month, I think because I am in credit I have had it on more so I will aim to put a jumper on first this month although it is now snowing and minus so might need it on lot this weekend.
    - Arranged some low cost entertainment for DD, Garden centre course £2.50 make a bird feeder, free party with the Childrens centre. The only expensive thing we are doing in half term is we are going to a trampoline park with friends but she loves it.
    - We might do cheap cinema on Sunday weather depending.
    - Set CC payment to avoid charges, I think I will close the card once paid off, I seem to be getting high interest charges since they changed the T and Cs and there service isn't great these days.
  • I'm really pleased to have you on my team Foxgloves. I have looked, and £300 will be enough for a 2 day visit to Alt0n T0wers and a night in the hotel. So the kids are well up for it - even though they have both already argued about what things they will put on the menu. The positive (if there is one) is that so far we have 4 meals that they have both agreed on. It's a start... I think someone told me before about offering a 'will eat anything but...' list. I will try anything to be honest. I'm not mad into cooking - I find it a means to an end rather than something I enjoy, but I do like the idea of moneysaving and zero waste.
As I predicted I have had a busy old afternoon. I'm prepared for next week and holiday homework is in for photocopying. One week to go...
No spends so far, and I only need to pop out to pick dd up from gymnastics in a few minutes so I'm hopeful.
Washing is on, and drying on the radiator.
House is hoovered through from top to bottom
Naughty tortie has decided to make me worry by not eating anything today. :(
I still need to finalise a meal plan and shopping list so that we can go and get the essentials tomorrow.

Can I have your share, please? :D

I popped into the small Mr T tonight half an hour before last reductions and they seem to have changed it slightly and it might actually work out better.

Whereas before the first reductions would only be by about 20% then 90% off at final reductions they'd been back today and done another interim reduction and reduced things by between half and two thirds (and other random amounts!) I think this could work out quite well for me as though it's not quite as cheap there's a bit more choice and no scrum!

    So tonight I got:
Chicken wraps reduced from £2.45 to 99p
Pack of pastrami reduced from £2.50 to £1.25
Pack of sausages reduced from £1.50(?) to 62p
Apple turnovers reduced from £1.50 to 99p

I also managed to womble 81 club card points over 6 receipts :T

DH is off food at the moment and only fancies sandwiches so we all had sandwiches for dinner and I did DS and DSGF's with a bowl of sweet potato fries on the side and some quiche so a bit of a mini buffet!

Hope you are all enjoying the start of your weekend, have a great one :)

    Good Evening All

Nothing much achieved today as DS had a training day so we didn't actually get up until 11 , quick shower and then hubby home (at lunchtime) to get changed before we went to meet his brothers and sisters for a meal to celebrate DH's 65th birthday tomorrow. Spent a lovely afternoon chatting and catching up with good, cheap food and big portions too - no tea needed. Came home feeling loved and blessed to have their support. Have managed to

    Check bank
    Shopping with list

    Love to you all. Night!

  • CCL when my DS was about 11 or 12 he went through a stage of being incredibly fussy about food. He has health problems and food is an issue anyway. I mealplan and I agreed with him that 3 days out of 7 he could have anything he wanted for tea (within reason). The other 4 days he had to eat the same as us. He could choose which days he used his 3 "options". It worked wonders, took the stress out of it all and I knew he was eating properly for 4 days even if he had fish fingers and chips the other 3 days.

Mealplanning and my slow cooker are my lifesavers when it comes to food.

Been a funny day here, lots of anxiety in our household at the moment about work, school, poorly family members etc. Even the dog is unhappy with dry skin inside his ears which is all itchy. Hoping we can avoid a vets visit - he will let DH put cream on which soothes it at least.

Its freezing out and rain is forecast for most of the weekend, I need to motivate myself to work tomorrow.

I'm back! Laddened with hotel and airline freebies! Just want a lovely shower and a change of clothes. I've then got to get back in the car for a 200 mile + car journey for a family celebration. Staying in a Holiday Inn this time; taking me pots of porridge as per usual.

I'll get my MS head back on, on Monday. In the meantime I'm still entering FB comps and FPL.
