  • Morning all :hello:

Not quite the snow overnight I was expecting, but grey and cold here none the less

I'm snuggles up with a coffee for now. Just thinking of what I need to achieve today :
Need to do meal plan I didn't do yesterday
Make a small transfer to DH new account to check it 'works' before I move a big chunk
Roast dinner using sliced meat in freezer. Will cook in gravy. Think I got this tip of foxgloves ages ago and we do I regularly now to make our joints go much further
May do a small shop to see us through until Thursday
    Run
Need to call the company I wanted to get on a chat with yesterday as their chat wasn't active and it appears it rarely is. Which sums up their customer service ;)
Message a friend about something that should save us some money.
No school stuff to get ready as they're off this week:D

I need to think about a potential large expense, DH really needs a new car. We bought a run around nearly 4 years ago, to be honest didn't think it would last this long and we're just trying to Pre empty what might be an mot fail next month (and expense that outweighs cost of car) but we really don't want another run around for various reasons, that are are a bit too long winded to bore you. However, any alternatives just seem costly when we've not been paying the capital on the current car. Hmm, something to mull over.

    Happy Sundays folks. Purps.
  • Morning all :D :coffee:
Enjoying my Sunday morning cuppa and tv on my own while everyone else is in bed. The weather is vile out there so the heating is definitely still on and I don't want to get out of my pj's at all - although I have to - it's visiting family day.
Thanks everyone for the fantastic advice about my fussy eating kids. Think that I'll just keep trying, not take the rejection personally and make small adjustments where necessary. They can both make cereal and toast so neither of them will go hungry. Although I suspect that if I made something that looked like a tapeworm we would all go hungry :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
So today's plans should be reasonably relaxing and hopefully non spendy. We shall see. As I say, the weather is horrific out there so whilst I'd rather not be out it's been way too long since I caught up with my family.
Me and the kids will go out once we're all up and ready. Few stops to make today. Firstly to Aldee (for my mam who has asked me to pick some stuff up for her so I'll get the money back), then to my dad's. It's been way too long since we saw him and I have made his cat a blanket so I want to take that round. Then we'll go to my mam's for a free feed and a catch up. That will almost certainly take us to mid/late afternoon.
Other than that, just the usual - housework, getting the kids ready for school tomorrow etc. We still have another week until half term.
BB - I buy all of the cat supplies separately between Z00plus for the food and our local shop for litter. They have their own budget, which is between £60 and £75 a month. Plus what I put away for vets...
PF - I will probably get slated for saying this as it's not very mse, but I think that if you depend on your car then it makes sense to spend a bit of £ getting something that's decent and reliable. I know absolutely nothing about cars and maintenance and therefore would rather pay monthly for a car with everything included (service, etc) than have to stress about finding time and money for expensive repairs.
  • Morning cat & pf! Feeling very fragile this morning after my night out. It was touch and go several times throughout the day, so glad it went ahead as was so much fun  Also I only spent £13 :T

    Things to do today

    * load of washing & hang up
    * go out in the shed and find things to paint rad
    * forgot to get chicken out of the freezer yesterday so have got some sausages out instead
    * taking madam for a play date at the soft play after lunch
    * hope to go for a swim at some point
    * bags, lunches & clothes ready for tomorrow
    * some master's prep
    * some fleabaying
    * listen to free book - I've been trying audio/podcasts and I find it really hard to take the information in! I think I must prefer visual to take in info. Disappointing but I'm persevering to see if it gets easier

Ok that'll do. Going to have a quick tidy round and go and have a bath in hope that it'll make me feel more human

  • Morning all!

I have come back to bed with a cuppa after putting washing on etc - its cold downstairs and I don't want to put heating on higher so paperwork in bed it is! DD is at her dads so made sense to me! :)

I will have to go down in a bit to check cupboards etc :(

    Today:
    *Washing mountain
    *Pet related cleaning
    *Surveys
    *Stock take and meal plan
    *Shopping list and SuperM run
    *Budget review
*Check online banking once live again due to site maintenance

Carpet picnic and games with DD planned for when she gets back as she will have had a big dinner at lunch time with her dad.

Hope you all have a great day!

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning

Hope your call out wasn't too late Yorkshire I ended up home again by 12.30. Unfortunately the little one had woken up as I'd left so DH hadn't had a very fun time.

I am topping up on the caffeine before I need to head back out again at 12 for round 2.

Still all the cycling is very good for me, despite the freezing cold and dodgy fat wet snow flakes :)

    Have a great day all.

  • Good morning everyone, sorry I have been AWOL.
Had to take my cat to the vets on Friday, it was her final journey:(
Have been absolutely heartbroken and so flat, it's been horrible to say the least.
It was particularly difficult because this little cat who was never sociable, always abit of a loner, even as a kitten, fuss on her own terms, when I first got her as a kitten, she wouldn't come near anyone, the first time she came near me she lay on my knee.......the knee that was brewing such a serious infection that it left me fighting for my life and cost me my leg.I did everything I could to try and save her, but I just couldnt:(
Haven't really done much this weekend, done a few bits bec I've had to and my niece who came with me has stayed over, just dropped her at work.
Been reading through the boards this morning and have decided to join the grocery challenge, just to try and focus on something....other plan for today, go easy on myself and clean the kitchen floor......always feel better for some reason when I've got a clean kitchen floor-even though it sounds daft:o

So sorry to hear your sad news Happy Kitties :( Your only consolation is that you did your very best for her. It is so sad losing pets :(
  • aw Happy Kitties really sorry to hear that. It's ok to grieve and not feel your usual self, it's ok not to be happy. Just accept it and look after yourself x

    Today I have / will:
Rehung kitchen curtains, all nice and clean now. They are pale yellow with a small floral print, not everyone's cup of tea but I find them so sunny and cheery, especially on a horrible grey day like this! And they only cost a few £ from a charity shop about 5 years ago :D

Cleaned top of cooker (a bit of a mission as it is a big range one, so tends to get left :o)
Dough for fruit buns in BM
Raspberries out of freezer for jamming once they defrost - fed up with them falling out every time I open the freezer door! There are only 2lbs, but it will make a few jars, and HM raspberry jam is also a cheery kind of thing for grey days :D
Folded up washing from airer and put away
Stripped off bedlinen and washed it - it will be done soon, and hopefully it can go outside -I currently have DS's clothes out there, and they seem to be blowing about a bit, anyway!
Sorted out a box of sales stock for ebaying, and a couple of items that can go to my sales unit.
Print out a postage label for one item that has sold
    Dog walk later
    Bits from fridge for lunch
    Roast beef for dinner :)
Ordered some special offers from Campbells meat, used up the 20% off voucher I was sent before Xmas due to missing / damaged items in my order. Serious freezer tetris required on Tuesday when it all arrives  Hoping for no mistakes this time, though to be fair they do respond immediately if there is a problem. Last time I got a refund for missing and damaged items, plus the discount code for next order.

Can't think of anything else at the moment!
