When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Morning guys
another day where I've woken up at 5.30 feeling ghastly and today with the addition of toothache
have taken some pain relief and it's now subsided to a dull ache...
Today is going to be expensive as I am going to buy dd a carpet for her lounge, splitting the cost between oh & I...
In other news:
* [STRIKE]made up madam's lunch - hm pizza swirls, fruit, hm cake & yogurt. Oh will have pizza swirl and lo slice of pizza[/STRIKE]
* load of washing & hang up
* check tyre pressure before drive, take out anything adding weight
* vacuum hse and clean bathroom
* make roast I cba to do yesterday... ditto with picking up a sack of spuds
* take books to library, pay fineand reserve a couple of psychology books. Download a couple of free podcasts to listen to on way to/back from dds
* last of banoffee pie for oh & dgd for tea tonight
* get oh's dad's 4mazon log in details so I can save postage on an item I want to get
* need to do a letter for a client to send to creditors. Hopefully she'll send me the details as I can do this before I leave
Can't think of anything else I need to do... Happy Monday xDF as at 30/12/16

Morning all
:coffee:
Thanks for the starter this week DNMS - hope that you're feeling better soon.
I have a very unexpected day off today. Was on my way into work when ds decided it would be a really good time to puke. In the car. Bit of a rude awakening which involved an unexpected spend on a car valet after I cleaned the worst of it up, plus a spend on some medicine for him. I've rang into work, set cover and come home. He's in bed asleep and I am feeling incredibly guilty - as I always do when I have a day off work. Ah well - these things can't be helped, and to be honest I am quite looking forward to a nap on the sofa myself once I've gotten some stuff done.
Thinking of you today Foxgloves - hope that everything goes ok.
So, plans for the day have changed somewhat... The usual still applies but I might be less tired than I usually am by 6pm on a Monday.check banking and PAD
hoover through
get a load of washing done
carve up leftover roast beef and freeze
look after poorly ds
nap if I need to
try not to stress (this is hard work at the moment)
Have a good day everyone - I'll be back laterNot giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Crazy Cat maybe this is the gods telling you to slow down for the day and rest - I know poorly child will need some care but other than that take it easy...sounds like a films on the sofa day to me
I will have to do the school run twice this morning as I forgot DD has a music lesson and forgot instrument  I am just having a cuppa and will drive to school again to drop to off... not what I need as some urgent things to complete this morning!
Today:
*All food from home and properly meal planned for :T
*Washing mountain...it's like a scene in a film where they think they have got to the summit and the clouds clear...:rotfl:
*I have made my bed
*Work, work, work
*General keeping things tidy
It sends me into a spin when my day starts with forgetting things and wasting time so much chill with tea and get my head back int the game!
Have a good day!Happiness is wanting what you have...0 -
Hi everyone
Thanks for the kick off DNMS!
Hope everyone is ok. :grouphug:
I had a bit of a nightmare morning - mum told dad the wrong time of my train so he thought we had plenty time to get to the station. I had no real clue how bad the traffic would be and thought we had plenty time... Queue me running for the train in my new boots with a suitcase, a carrier bag with my old shoes in, a handbag that kept slipping off my shoulder and another shopper bag with my laptop, makeup bag etc (i.e. heavy!!). Go on, you've guessed it - I got to the top of the stairs as it pulled away! I then had to hang around for over an hour for the next one. Thankfully the nice train guard let me get the next train and even said it was fine to sit in first class! I have just had my free roll and bacon, free tea x 2 and have a comfy seat. Life ain't too bad. I've emailed my boss to see if he wants me to take a half day holiday or whether it is ok to work on the train and then just make up the time. I can make up an extra hour a day from Tuesday to Thursday so it should be ok, but let's see what he says.
(I've actually just realised I can't really do any work on the train due to the access I have - eek... I can answer emails though so let's hope lots of people email me!!)
Dad felt bad this morning and gave me the money for a new ticket that I now don't need... I wonder if he'll want his money back
OH has just told me our oven is kaput - hopefully just a fuse as it's not quite new kitchen time...
Right, I best go reply to some emails...
Although I would rather/will do later:
- Check banking/YNAB
- Sort my bullet journal for Feb
- Find free crochet patterns for pal's new baby
- Read free kindle books
- Watch stuff I downloaded from net flix
Have a good week everyone!0 -

I gave up guilt last year - it's incredibly liberating cat, no point to it, it does not good whatsoever. Now I do the best I can, if it's something I can do to help the situation I do and then know I've done everything I can and if I can't do anything about the situation I let it go as there's no point fixating on itDF as at 30/12/16

YS ham chunks are in the slow cooker with mushrooms and mushroom soup for carbonara later.
I still need t:
Wash out the dye
Find my passport to prove I am eligible to work in the UK
Visit my mum stopping to buy cheese on the way.
Interview

Welcome doodlebug
Good luck with ur interview today FVD, I'm sure you will smash it. Fantastic YS bargains:T
Don't feel guilty CCL, i reckon it is also a sign to put ur feet up aswell. You need to take care of yourself aswell.
LaE I'm glad everything got sorted with the train, I hope the bacon roll was good:). I hope it is just a fuse with your oven and not any massive expense
Foxgloves I hope everything goes okay today.
My day routine has been upside down today as I also have to take my daughter for her pre-op later
I've put a chicken and jacket potatoes in the oven for later.
Must get that paperwork which is now becoming very annoying, sent tonight.
Noticed mini ironing Everest was building yesterday so did attack it abit more. Providing I don't slip and let it build up again, I should start to see daylight with this particular task.
Still need to clean bathroom, but cats were good........no dustpan accidents this morning:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
