  • DS has been up half the night throwing up 😕 Not sure if it’s something he’s eaten or a virus going around. Hope I don’t catch it!

I’ve fed the dog and will walk her a bit later. Then I’m working 9-3. I am going to see if I can change my hours slightly for Friday so I can get my hair done at 3pm. All food today will be from stores.

I found a guide to brokers on MSE for DS to read & will email him the link later   He said he is going to cancel his appointment with the mortgage advisor at the bank & use a broker. Not sure, but I think he will have a better chance of it being agreed if he uses a broker. When I checked the link his bank came up as one of the best deals but the application is complex with gifts etc

  • The bank can only recommend their mortgages, a broker can search numerous lenders to find the right lender for their circumstances.

Hope you can tweak your hours.

Thanks MF. His bank seemed to be agreeable to him buying a relatives house and the gifts so he was going to apply direct, but the mortgage board recommended using a broker to present the application to them (or any other lender if there is a better deal).

After speaking to my solicitor my gift will be paid when we complete, from the sale proceeds/equity, not in cash. (Something to do with money laundering regulations). So I sell at £290k and they give me £270k.

I think I’ve got my head around it 🤯

  • It's easy to overthink something new and it cuts down on AML work if the money is taken from your sale rather than you getting everything to send some of it back.

  • Have been at the hospital most of the day 😕 When I took the dog for a walk this morning I suddenly noticed flashes like lightning in one eye and lots of black dots. The gp sent me to eye casualty. Thankfully the retina is not detached but I have Posterior Vitreous Detachment.  Nothing serious, they found no retinal tear and within 6-8 weeks (!!) my brain should stop noticing the flashes and floaters. It can come on quite quickly and I am more at risk being short sighted 🤓

    Spends today

£18 taxi there and back. Couldn’t drive due to drops in my eyes blurring my vision.

Lunch in hospital cafe & drink £7.50 while waiting for drops to wear off a bit. Lamb moussaka and Diet Coke 😋

I will use some of the council tax money not needed this month to cover the cost.

Not sure how this is going to affect work. I think I will have to move my desk out of the bay window into a darker corner & turn the brightness down on my screens. The flashes of light in the eye are very distracting. I will phone work in the morning as my boss is off and her deputy who I spoke to earlier has finished for the day.

Thank goodness it wasn't serious! 6-8 weeks seems like a long time though, I hope work are accommodating if you need anything.
  • Good grief, I'm glad you're ok.
Ask for an OH referral as I think there's a screen that goes over your monitor to reduce glare etc.

  • Thanks atrixa and MF. I spoke to the deputy manager today and she was very supportive. I was given time to move my desk out of the big bay window & lots of breaks. Did feel a bit dizzy towards the end of my shift and finished a bit early. Rested a bit then drove to the hairdressers. There is no side effects when driving thankfully so I don’t need to report to dvla.

Hairdo £45 for foils 2 colours, cut and blow dry will be paid from household bills. Felt very relaxed after and had a good natter with my hairdresser who I have known for years and she works from home.

Have ordered a curry for tea with 10% off and free delivery £10.22 will be enough for 2 meals and will pay out of my entertainment budget.

Car tax reminder arrived today. £130 for 12 months which I will pay in full from Household bills account.

DS & his gf have sorted the dog and gone out so I’m relaxing for the evening with my feet up 😁

  • Curry last night was lovely & lots leftover. The dog is still snoozing this morning so I am letting her have a lie in 😆 I can walk her later today as it’s the weekend 🥳. If I feed her at 7am I can walk her by 9am. She has to have a couple of hours after eating before charging around on her walk, so she doesn’t get bloat.

All food will be from stores today. My house moved friend is coming over later to collect a couple of boxes I stored for her and her tortoises from my shed 🐢 🐢🐢 (I think those pictures are turtles but hey ho near enough 😆)

Apart from that I am planning lots  of rest. By the end of the day yesterday I felt like I had eye strain 😵‍💫 but I think I will get that whatever I do. I can even see the flashes and floating bits when it’s dark and when my eyes are closed 🤦‍♀️

Sorry to hear about your eye, sounds like it would be quite unnerving! Glad it was nothing serious but still it’s not nice. Definitely put your feet up and have a good rest this weekend
