    That food looks lovely.

  • Thanks MF and SW

It took me ages to switch off from work after finishing at 6pm. I fell asleep at around 9pm then woke on the sofa around midnight so went to bed. Now I am awake again 😕

Usually I would be feeding the dog at 5am but instead I will get a cup of tea and try to doze off again. I am going out later with my friend to the range.

I bought a few items for breakfasts at aldee.

    - wheat shreds with raisin
    - tinned mackerel in tomato sauce to have mashed on toast
    - pork breakfast burgers & breakfast toasting muffins with egg (fakeaway mc D sausage & egg Mc muffin)

I also have sliced bread in the freezer for toast, eggs for poaching or scrambled or frying and porridge in store cupboard.

I bought fresh fruit to start the week and tinned peaches and tinned pineapple in juice for later in the week once the fresh fruit has been eaten.

Next week I should have enough food and the week after I may only need fruit and milk if I get my batch cooking head on this weekend.

  • Hope you managed another doze.
Great idea with the fruit, I'm going to borrow that if you don't mind!
    Enjoy your trip, treat yourself.

  • Oh dear I think I treated myself too much! 😆

    b&m £11.80
    the range £21.46
    cost a lot £5.50

Will pay from food budget / entertainment fund.

Mostly food stock cupboard items, chocolate, oven cleaner, kettle descaler. Bought myself a sweet ceramic baby elephant 🐘 not sure why but it just caught my eye, plus some cork place mats for the dinner table for serving dishes.

Treated myself and my friend to a hot chocolate and a sit down (cost a cafe in the range) between floors, we were out for 3 hours in total!

Home and hung towels out, it was sunny and windy so they were dry in a couple of hours. Pottered around alternating between putting slow cooker on, tidying and laying on the sofa watching films. 😁 Brought towels in just at the right time before a sudden shower of rain.

Somerset pork for dinner in slow cooker. 4 loin chops, visible fat removed & cubed, onions, butternut squash, baby potatoes & carrots with packet mix 65p and water, on high for 4 hours. Added some apple in last half an hour 😋 3 portions in freezer

At least the things you bought were for your house and useful Skinty. I am glad you had a good day out.  I overspent last month way too much! lol. The dinner sounds lovely.

It is raining by me. The clocks have changed and i tried really hard to have a lie in but couldnt.

I put the clocks back when I went to bed but I still woke at 5am. I made a cup of tea and went back to bed and managed to get back to sleep for a couple of hours. Puppy dog is back later tonight so I will be dog walking again tomorrow morning.

Today I will be hoovering and resting. It is blowing a gale and raining at the moment. If it brightens up this afternoon I may go out with another friend for a walk as she text me last night about meeting up.

Today I will make beef curry in the slow cooker with onions, peppers, butternut squash & chickpeas. I can add frozen cauli and broccoli when I warm it up to bulk it out more. I will also make on the hob curried parsnip soup and chicken, mushrooms, broccoli in soft garlic cheese sauce, adding cooked pasta and a little pasta water at the end if the sauce needs thinning a little.

I might take the elephant back. Not sure why I bought it really. £12.99. Will live with it for a few days then decide.

Hope the rain eases off so you can go out for a walk, it's hammering down here, I love watching it and listening to it hit the conservatory roof but not so fun when you need to go out.

    Enjoy your day.

You've got a lot of things for not much money and the baby elephant sounds gorgeous!
    - just noticed you may return it, what changed your mind?

Hot drink stop is a must while out and you've been busy cooking, this week's food is great.

Hope the weather doesn't prevent your walk.

  • I don’t do ornaments MF and I have never wanted an elephant ornament so not really sure why I bought it. The old MSE mantras are going through my head
    Do I need it? No
    can I afford it? Yes
is it worth it? Not sure

I could use the money to pay towards my new clothes. Or use it to go out with friends instead.

Friend came round for a cuppa and chat. Now I’m hiding in the back kitchen from trick or treaters 👻 🎃 🧛🧟‍♂️

  • Morning all on this sunny 1st of November. Sunny weather this morning but a chill in the air so I wore a woolly pully and my all weather fur lined coat & gloves and was glad of them! Walked the dog and she is now snoring in her chair 😆 The trees are in autumnal colour and not much blown down in the gales thank goodness.

The sun is at the front of the house so the living room should be warm when I start work & heating is off so far.
