Plan your next visit and it will be something good to look forward to at this emotional time.

Meals sound like great hearty winter food. Just what's needed.

Loving your winter prep and hopefully you'll find a new hat, it's possibly a teenage one you've got, they're slightly smaller than an adult one.

  • Thanks MF and SW. Nice dog walk this morning, cloudy but warm. On the way home I saw someone had put an old original wood panelled door out in their forecourt. DF had a look & we knocked the door & the guy wanted rid of it, so it was free 🤗

I have wanted a new bathroom door for years. All my upstairs bedroom doors are original, 4 panelled with original finger plates and locks/door handles all painted white, but the bathroom is a horrible dark brown veneer & very narrow so we couldn’t buy a regular 4 panelled door as it would take too much cutting down.

DF is going to bring the necessary tools and his work bench next time and cut it down / sand / paint & fit new glass and hang it for me. I will need to look at getting a new handle & order the glass.

The sun came out at lunch time so we had a walk to the local pub & enjoyed a drink in the sun before going home for a roast dinner. 😋

Oh my, that's absolutely wonderful, what a lucky find at the right time 🤗

  • It was very lucky, but I have waited over 20 years 😆

All the houses round here were built in the 1930’s and the indoor bathrooms were added later, most of the houses I have been in have the same narrow bathroom doorway.

DF has gone home 😢 and I am working later. I have chucked mince beef, onions, tomatoes & chilli powder / paprika/ garlic granuals in the slow cooker on low. Never done a chilli in the slow cooker before, so will see what it turns out like. I will add chopped peppers, courgettes and beans half way through the cooking time.

There was enough food left from yesterday’s roast for another meal so that was put in the freezer.

  • Thanks SW Hope you are ok as I see you were posting v late last night/ early this morning.

Have fed the dog. Just finished a cup of tea & back in bed until walk time around 7.30am. Will try and have a snooze.

Weather forecast not so good over next few days, storms, rain and gales. Friday is meant to be the better day so I will wash bedding then to dry on the line outside.

Slow cooker chilli was a success. Had to add some Tom puree at the end to thicken. 3 portions in the freezer and 1 in the fridge for today.

Heating still off. Throws on the sofa were used in the evening. I am closing all the curtains in the evening now as it starts to get dark, to try and keep some heat in.

Well done. Weather pretty odd by me too! I was up in the night as sugars were a bit low. Yum to slow cooker and warm food. I am worried about putting the heating on. My bill is always high! you are doing so well.

Sorry your dad had to go, hopefully you'll see each other again soon.
I do wish fireworks were banned from sale to the public. As always the few spoil it for the many.
Savings, budget and cash balance looks good, you've done well not to have a major spending spree this month!
