  • Bargain plants, fuchsia's are gorgeous especially the frilly ballerina type.
    Meals sound yummy, as always.
I can't believe how much you both have got done, in such a short time. Your home is going to look totally different and be a place to relax and enjoy.

    I'm so pleased for you!

I have that purple slate in part of my garden and it looks lovely.

  • @doingitanyway we are very lucky as we are on the edge of the city and we have lots of parks and green spaces. Do you have a local park you could walk in ?

Thanks SW and MF, the new lawn edging is now in place and weed suppression membrane is down covered by the purple slate. It looks lovely and matches the border on the opposite side which DM & DF did years ago. DF has also rebuilt the raised bed, (which had part rotted and collapsed after about 15 years) with the new decking which was delivered yesterday.

The dishwasher has been taken from the forecourt, probably by the scrap man, so that is one less thing to take to the tip on Thursday morning  🤗 After the tip run I am taking DF out for the afternoon & for lunch.

Today we are just pottering around, few odd jobs to do & load car for tip run tomorrow. Will probably go for a walk later. It is sunny & blue sky but chilly when I took the dog out earlier. We have been so lucky with the weather this week and it’s been lovely and warm in the afternoons.

Bangers & mash for tea tonight with veg & onion gravy. We had spag Bol last night with garlic bread. Food budget still looking good

Sounds idyllic and the new raised bed will make gardening a little easier.
Late summer burst of weather is always welcome and makes walks more enjoyable.
Enjoy your tea, I'm having that tomorrow!

So glad you had good weather today. The garden sounds lovely. Well done both of you. A big job made much better with your father.

  • Thank you both. Lovely warm day today spent in the garden. I’m glad we made the most of the weather as the forecast for the rest of the week is cloudy & some rain. Loaded the car for tip run in the morning.

I need one more bag of slate which we will pick up after the tip / lunch. I may take a look at the alpines while I am there for the raised bed and a couple of plants for my pots.

My back & legs are painful with all the bending and lifting but I feel so much happier and more relaxed than I have in ages.

Dinner was aldee pork & apple sausages with jacket potatoes, Savoy cabbage & carrots and onion gravy 😋

You're having a wonderful holiday with DF and have achieved so much. Plants will finish the area off nicely.

Try and take it easy and listen to your body.

We have lovely sunny weather again here today despite the forecast.

Very atmospheric dog walk in the  mist this morning. Crumpets for breakfast. Then we did the tip run, the car was stacked, it was a good job we didn’t need to get the dishwasher in too!

After that we drove round to the local marina/ shops / restaurants. We had already decided to go to Weather spoons for a curry but you can now get their specials every day not just curry Thursday / fish & chip friday etc. We both had beef madras, garlic Nan, basmati pilau rice, 2 popadoms each & mango chutney and a Pepsi max each, total £15. DF paid & it was lovely. We sat overlooking the marina & then had a walk round eyeing up the fancy yachts.

On the way home we called into b&m and got a bag of slate £3.99 and then aldee so I could get shopping for next week and a few bits for the rest of this week. £24.61

Just sat in the garden in the sun now. Towels hung out this morning have dried on the line.

Hope the weather is nice again tomorrow as we have planned a trip to the sea and fish & chips 😋

Thanks for saying the specials are available all the time. They make for a cheap and cheerful catch up day out.

The marina sounds like a great place to watch the world go by.

Fingers crossed the weather stays good as your trip will be relaxing and an idyllic place for lunch.
