  • Breezy morning & rain is pending. Some big black clouds looming with heavy rain & gale force winds forecast for later today.

Have been out with the dog for an hour. Bumped into my friend with her 2 dogs and had a chat with her. We are going to the local pub for dinner later. She is going to see if the rest of our group of friends want to come too.

I’ve washed towels hoping to get them out on the line for an hour or so. This wind should mostly dry them & they can finish on airers. I’ve hosed down the patio and washed the kitchen floor.

I’m hoping to get the few remaining items from the spare room up into the loft later. Then I can sort the beds for DF arriving next week.

    1. clear off spare bed & put items in loft
    2. Hoover spare room & make bed
    3. wd40 on kitchen door hinges (which I keep forgetting to do)
    4. Box up my course work from bedroom cupboard & put in loft
    5. Put handbags in cupboard where coursework was.
    6. Pack away summer sandals into big flowery storage boxes

May look like a long list but most of it will only take minutes, if I don’t write it down I will forget. My memory is dreadful lately 🤦‍♀️

You have done so much already well done. Well done on sorting out bedroom for new bed and summer sandals. I will pinch ideas and do some of this in the half term which is 3 weeks away. Major rain by me and chilly.

Hmmm, I could do with putting away my summer sandals neatly in a floral box, I tend to just ram them in the bottom of the wardrobe  :D hope you have a lovely time at the pub :)

The first few times I browned meat, then after a while I used to just throw everything into the slow cooker and let it do its thing. I never noticed a difference.

You've done well getting everything done and organised, the holiday is long overdue and it will be wonderful having DF down.

Hi SYA... have been catching up with you... have been reading for a while, but life catches up and time takes over, so sorry for not saying Hi sooner.

Hope this helps, Mr Pepper is an engineer 30+ exp.  please don't think i'm trying to teach granny how to 'suck eggs'...  but we live in a house which is abou 100 years old... long story short, he buys very cheap cans of polish (any smart brand) and sprays it on our old doors and anything with a hinge..... (I am a crabby sleeper)  cheaper than WD... LOL, he did a house spray today which prompted him to say this.

He said it does the same job for less...  he did mention not waking up the Kraken (door noise) if this helps.

@riotlady thanks I had a lovely evening. I bought my floral boxes on amazon they are really cheery with big peonies. The bottom storage section of my wardrobe is now rammed with handbags 😆

MF thanks for the slow cooker tip. I will give that a go later today 😊 I am trying to save money by using the slow cooker more.

Lol SW you are probably remembering that I have changed the beds around when I was prepping to move and I was going to buy myself a new bed with storage underneath but that’s all on hold at the moment 😁

@jennystarpepper hi and thank you for the great tip. It’s actually a can of 3in1 oil Spray that I bought a couple of years ago in pound land. I do also have a cheap can of spray polish so I will remember to use that when the oil spray runs out. I don’t really use polish in the house as strong smelling sprays make me sneeze. I just wipe away dust with a damp cloth or hoover it away. However I do use polish on my plastic curtain rails / tracks when the curtain hooks start to stick & it becomes difficult to pull the curtains closed. I never would have thought to use polish on hinges.

Just 2&3 left to do on my list today.

I forgot to mention yesterday I decided to treat myself to a cooked breakfast delivered. I ordered extra large size of 3 sausages, 4 bacon, 2 eggs, 3 hash browns, mushrooms, beans & tinned tomatoes. £6.39. I was going to split it into 2 meals & pay from October entertainment fund. The food was lovely but there was only 2 bacon and 1 egg. I complained and thought I’d get maybe £2 back but I was given a refund of £6.39 ! So just delivery to pay £2.49 !

Have had a lovely dog walk this morning & just had the remaining 1 sausage, 1 bacon & 2 hash browns warmed in microwave with a few beans & tinned toms & an egg from lidll. The rest of the tinned toms & beans will go in the chilli I am making.

Last night out with friends was a lovely evening lots of chat and laughter. It rained most of the day but stopped just before 6pm in time for me to walk to the pub 😁. I had a meal and a drink £12.84. Then another drink & a kid’s chocolate brownie dessert with ice cream (£1.80.) Total spend £18.38. This will be paid from entertainment fund. Not bad price for a meal & 2 glasses of alcohol 🤗 Walked home around 9.30pm, only 5 mins from pub, well lit and walked part way with one of my friends.

That's a good outcome on the breakfast and I'm not surprised you ordered in after everything you've done lately.
Pub night out has rejuvenated you by the sounds of it.

Hope you have a nice day.
