Have been awake since 4am lots going through my head. Am going to start on my list of moving/ decluttering again today and try to keep busy.Yesterday I walked the dog in the morning it was mild and bright after the storm. Not many tree branches down, but a house further down the street has lost part of its roof! Feel for them and glad it’s not me. We lost part of our chimney/ roof years ago & had the chimneys removed below the roof line and tiled over and (touch wood) no problem since.I hung my picture in my bedroom, then took down the old co2 detector holder and half the wall came off with it 😳 There are 2 rawl plugs still in the wall and one big hole where the 3rd was. Should I feel guilty about screwing it back to the wall to cover the hole & leave it well alone 🙁 Otherwise it will take days of filling and sanding, may end with 3 large holes when other 2 rawl plugs are removed and then I may have to paint the whole wall rather than just patch over. Am feeling a bit disheartened, 1 step forward 2 steps backwards.
Will get up & feed the dog in a minute then a walk around 9am.Had a look in the sales but no decent kettles reduced. Very difficult to choose one as they all seem to have very mixed / bad reviews. The only one that seemed ok was only a 1 litre kettle & so not big enough. Ended up with a 1.7 litre one for £28 with majority good reviews & DS’s gf ordered it on her prime account for fast delivery. Our old one has now developed a fault & doesn’t always turn on when you push the button down. I did my online banking & transferred her the £28 from my household bills account, plus her Christmas present money from xmas/ birthday account.0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

Sending hugs Skinty!
I am not a good DIY'er - I think I would have quietly done the same with the CO2 detector.
How about just replacing the battery in it, cheap and quick solution, maybe then you would feel better about it? It is only a tiny thing and you have achieved so much, don't let it drag you down.
I think you have so much whirling around your head, the small stuff is getting to you, maybe a good discussion with your DS & GF, and set them some tasks, will lift some of that worry and stress from you?
Glad you got the kettle ordered, nothing seems to last nowadays, unless you go back to the old whistling kettle on the hob. A good cuppa is what you need. I also prescribe medicinal chocolate (I seem to be doing that a lot lately!)
I hope you manage to take the dog out, Mine refused to set paw outside on her lead (as in digging her claws firmly in as I tried to drag her out!) as it's -2 here, a quick dash around the garden and back (haven't seen her move that fast for a while!). At least we don't have to erm, 'perform our ablutions' with icy wind nipping at our vitals!"...when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains however improbable, must be the truth..."

Skinty, you are moving out so do not feel bad about screwing it back on, we all would have done the same! No point creating additional work as it's not adding value.
The neighbour sounds like they were very unlucky, it can happen to anyone but hopefully their insurance will make a start on it quickly.
You've sorted out a kettle and it will make your brew, that's another thing off your list. Have a cuppa, take stock and get ticking more off, you'll be ready to market soon 🤗

Thanks Ren. The actual detector is long gone. It was round like a smoke detector & slotted into the holder on the wall. My new one is smaller & rectangular and stands by itself (on a chest of drawers.) That’s why I was going to remove the redundant holder but now I think I’ll leave it there!I’ve cut out chocolate, cake, crisps and ice cream apart from 3 days over Christmas and maybe New Year’s Day in a bid to reduce my sugar and not have to go onto insulin like the diabetes nurse has been threatening 😐 Chocolate not so medicinal for me, but I do love it. Plus I have no willpower & it is never in moderation 😬
Today DS is going to build a flat pack unit I bought and DS’s gf is moving some stuff into the loft. They work very hard long shifts and rarely get time off together. They have been walking the dog later in the afternoon, taking her to the forest or the common & then again for the last evening short wander. She always wants to go out and doesn’t care about the cold or rain. She’s quite happy to swim in the sea or roll in the mud, ice, snow! I’d much rather stay inside 😆0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

I think dark chocolate has less sugar.
Any help DS and / or GF can provide, is better than none and you can't do everything top to bottom on your own, when it's not just for your benefit. Even if one boxes things up and the other moves / hides them when not together, it will help them prepare for moving out.
Dogs rarely care about the weather, one track mind of fun, food, sleep and repeat 😊Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.1 -
Oh dear, sorry about the chocolate - I have had a pre-diabetic warning because I love the sweet stuff too much, or, just stress eating junk. So I do empathise about that - it is very hard to resist. Strangely, I also am banning myself from buying any or having it in here, again, lack of willpower. I can't just have one square of a bar of chocolate! I am in awe of anyone that can do that.....
Lovely that DS & GF are helping - I hope that lightens the stress from you."...when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains however improbable, must be the truth..."

I'm a type 1 and had chocolate in the house (xmas present from lodger) and couldnt focus till i ate it! Now I'm trying to stick to healthy diet and to try to walk once a day. I do feel so sorry for the neighbour with the roof issues. It is freezing. Glad that DS and DG are walking doggie. It's freezing here and v frosty.Aiming for a minimal spend 20222

I am now able to eat 85% chocolate and the combination of fat with low sugar seems to be okay BS wise. I find MnS do the best one as it has a silky mouth feel while some of them lack any pleasure and therefore pretty pointless.
Bananas and raisins are high sugar and probably best avoided on porridge. Dried apricots chopped up are not too bad. Maybe give them a try?If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

It looks like just a few ridge tiles off the very top of the roof have come down so hopefully not too much to fix for them. It’s a bright sunny frosty morning here too SW 🥶 I got wrapped up and took the dog on the field so she could roll on it 😆
Yesterday I moved some of the furniture around in the bedrooms and I now have the matching chest of drawers to my wardrobe. DS used it for a while but they have bought matching bedroom furniture from i kea. It is antique pine and has become marked / got rings on the top from water / cups. I have found a product online for £6 which is meant to make them disappear so will pop to b n q this morning and give it a try, hopefully it will avoid the need to sand & varnish.I also went to Morrisons in the snow and got veg for ny day & food for me for a week, plus an oven pride for £4 & a half price pack of Christmas cards, total spend £42.23. DS & gf are providing the meat etc for New Year’s Day & DS is working until 5pm so it will be a later meal. The snow didn’t settle but we are forecast to get more later today.0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗
