Arrived home yesterday. Had a good Christmas with family and met up with my old school friend. I am humbled by my DF who has given me a very generous gift and means I am now debt free and can start saving again. Very emotional and still can’t quite believe it. Will still be budgeting and saving for house move while enjoying life with friends and family. You still have to have a life.0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

This sounds fantastic. I am so glad you got to spend time with your DF. What a wonderful start to the New Year but it couldn't have happened to a nicer or more deserving person. :grouphug:

Wow! What a great end to the year, Skinty, that's amazing
I'm hoping that this month I can get back onto my frugal wagon again. I think I'm going to start a new diary with some savings challenges - presents (we seriously overspent at the end of the year), boiler and most importantly and excitingly, wedding!
Happy new year! x0 -
Aah, how lovely of your father and what a great start to the new year.
Happy new year, skint yet again.

Thanks for your lovely comments SW & kittikins & bestlifenow. Best wishes to you and your lovely families x
DS went out last night, his gf was working nights and I snoozed on the sofa with nibbles and baileysand comforted the dog through the fireworks. I was too tired to go out and will catch up with friends over the new year.
DS gf has just come in from work and sorted dog. They are taking her to the forest later for a long walk. I am cooking a roast for when they get back. I picked up cheap veg plus some DF gave me free from his allotmentI got half price leg of lamb on special offer.
Not moving yet SW don’t worry you will be first to knowJust now making long term savings plans and will sell & downsize at some point in the near future (3 to 5 years) hoping to retire before 67 !!!

Glad you are not moving yet as I would miss you but we will always be friends. Well done on getting nice roast in. I ate naughty food yesterday and paid the price with hypos today so I haven't done anything yet. Whoops.
We can both save together as there is no way I can keep working till 67. lol. I am so happy for you. This is going to be a brilliant year for us.:j:T:D:money:

Even if I move in the “real” world I would still be here SW you don’t get rid of me that easy :rotfl:
MSE is for life not just for Christmas :money:
Had a lovely NSD. Just one day when DS & gf off together, they took puppy dog to the forest and then we had dinner. DS back to work in the morning. I am off till Monday. Need to get some shopping tomorrow as all I have is leftover lamb & some veg. I also need to work out my budget for January. Due to DF kind gift I have paid off 0% credit card £548 & put £700 into my emergency fund taking it to £1000. I have a little leftover to treat myself, but this will be spent wisely on things I need otherwise it will just get frittered away.
