  • It's soooo dark this morning ! I have taken the decision to walk the puppy later so have just fed her and let her out on patio this morning. I will scrub patio down later today as it hasn't been done while I was away.

I will check cupboards and freezer later to see what food we have left as I am hoping not to shop till Monday. DS still has some batch cooked meals in freezer.

Ok confession time :o I had a pizza delivered last night it was a deal and seemed like a good idea at the time, a medium pizza garlic bread chicken strips and 4 choc chip cookies £17.99. DS had some before going off to stay at his new gf and there is some left for lunch today, but I could have gotten it all for around a fiver at aldi and now have more on my second credit card which is not 0% and paid off monthly. Why do I not have any willpower at the moment :( I could have eaten from freezer and used the money to make an extra payment off my 0% credit card.

What a lovely thing for your neighbour to do. People are wonderful aren't they? I think good people attract positive vibes. My dear friend Firewalker used to say this and it's so true.

Don't worry about the pizza. I had one yesterday too in St Katherine's Dock in London yesterday. We are even! Lets pretend it didn't happen. The waiter is a friend of the boys and he threw in some free shots as he always does when we visit!

Well there you go ladies, you can both justify your yummy pizzas - Skint: your neighbour won't take any money from you so the "savings" paid for your pizza; SW: you got free shots!! Yay :)

    Sometimes, I can be v. frivolous :) x
  • Thanks for the support folks ! :D

It was another dark morning today, its like winter ! I walked the dog at 9am in the rain then went out with a friend.

We went to Toby for lunch and paid £10 on my mastercard so I have applied to use £10 of my ice points courtesy of :money:
Carvery was nom nom ! and cant beat free meal and drink  plus they had crackling :D

I bought a proper dog Frisbee in the range for £1.99 which hopefully will last longer than the child one I bought in sainsbobs which has cracked. I also got the masonry paint reduced to £10.99 from £12.99 even a £2 saving is better than no saving ! I also got a birthday card in B&M for 59p. They had some lovely towels and bedding in the sale but I managed to resist :T

I have paid £50 off my 0% credit card so I will update my signature once the payment has cleared.

Have spoken to the pet insurance and they will cover most of the items on the xray apart from those which are optional so will have a chat with DS about what he can afford to pay for as its a £99 excess and then I can get her booked in. She doesn't seem to be in any pain but at least we will know for sure once its done.

It is darker - do you think it is due to the clouds or the loss of daylight which will soon be adding up I am sure!

Glad you had a meal out. I wish I knew where you ate your food at such good prices! Glad DS is able to help with the pet op bills. It is v stressful though. I hope Dear Puppy is ok.

    It is nearly the weekend.

It was lighter at 5.30am this morning but very cold and I feel tired so have not walked the dog yet. Have fed her etc and she is now back in her bed snoozing so I will walk her around 9am.

SW re the cost of the meal, the toby bill was just over £16 for 1 meat carvery for me and 1 veggie carvery for my friend and we had re-fillable pepsi-max each which you can just keep topping up. We moved into the bar area after our meal for a chat and just kept topping up our drinks. Sometimes I just have the carvery and a glass of free tap water so its just the cost of the food £6.49. As I had the free £10 ice points I paid £10 on my mastercard and my friend paid the difference. She's out of work at the moment but insisted on paying the rest as a birthday treat for me for last month, so it worked out a cheap deal for both of us.

I had a letter from my mortgage provider yesterday and the mortgage is going up from September due to the recent base rate rise from £211.84 to £214.90 from 1 September. I am glad I paid off a big portion of my mortgage by scrimping and saving and making overpayments and using my divorce settlement so the mortgage and this increase is manageable. I know some people will be struggling with the increase and I feel for them as I have been through similar since buying in the 80's. I remember counting up our penny jar to buy milk when my DS was a baby and we were really skint and I vowed never to be in that position again. I worked part time back then and took a second job at weekends when ex was home to look after DS.

Anyway, plans for today.... I am going to follow Kittikins and make a list :D

I am liking this list making :D its good to cross stuff off and see how much I've managed to do.

    2. put out recycling Done
    3. feed dog, wash out water bowls and food bowl Done
    4. clean and clear away paddling pool Done

    10. all meals from stores/freezer - get chicken out to defrost and make fajitas for dinner Done
    11. Scrub patio Done
    12. 2 loads of washing done

Number 5 & 7 Carried forward to tomorrow

    1. feed dog, wash out water bowls and food bowl
2 dog walks - one around 1 hour and one 30 mins
    3. post birthday card to b-in-law in post box on dog walk
    4. wash bedding if weather is dry
    5. clean BBQ and put away in shed
    6. hoover the stairs & landing and bedrooms
    7. wash down patio doors (covered in dog slobber where she licks them)

DS is on night shift tonight so I will have to do the hoovering in the late afternoon tomorrow once he get up. It won't take long or much effort with my cordless handheld vax. Most other things I will do in the morning and then rest in the afternoon. Sadly I only get 2 weeks summer holiday in my job so I am back to work on Monday.

I have moved money around in my accounts to round up the xmas / birthdays fund to £200. I have used money from the household savings account to cover the masonry paint yesterday & lightbulbs today, which were £5.18 in the range.

  • Online banking checked this morning and my payment has now been credited to the 0% credit card which is now down from £1360 to £1160 :j I would really like to get it below £1000 as soon as possible but I know that we will use it to pay for puppy xrays & then claim back from the pet insurance.
