I have just realized there are tube strikes for 3 days of next week which is reminding me again that I want to get out of working in London. I could rearrange my days off so I miss most of it but that will mess up my ticket plan, though to be fair if I'm going to have to walk on two of the days I could omit buying the tube part of my ticket for a week and walk the rest of the week too.

Food from stores again plus free donuts and free cake, and other free cake :o I have eaten my own weight in free cake and it's not even 2pm!

Dinner tonight will be the peri peri chicken if it's not been eaten by DS while we're at work. I will need to buy chips so will try to time my visit with YS time.

I need to print another label for my WBB package, the printer at home is limping along with the ink it has but it isn't quite clear enough to print readable bar codes.

I've not checked my bank account yet today to see if my tax rebate has gone in, I hope so. I do hope they aren't planning on investigating mine with a fine toothed comb but I'm half expecting it. Last year they queried an amount they thought I hadn't declared from a previous employer. When I spoke to them I queried whether they were sure that's what it was as the amount matched exactly a rebate that came through automatically when I signed on JSA for three weeks. I was right but the said it still needed paying back which I did there and then, then at the end of the year they refunded it again as it turned out I *had* included it on my tax return in the first place

Hope everyone is having a productive day! :)

OK - so make a plan for the day to be kind to oneself as have been signed off for another 4 weeks with stress and anxiety........
Then rip up plan following phone call from DH & move into major stress territory.....

Basically - DH has killed my car. It wasn't his fault - it developed a terminal problem on his way to work but meant that I had to arrange lift to get to said car (after having next door agree to take a parcel for me - still awaiting delivery) and then wait on RAC / loader to take me & dead car home.
Car is definitely dead - uncle who took me up was a mechanic and mentioned what had happened & said a new engine was needed. RAC man said exactly the same so today's new list is:-
    • [STRIKE]SORN car & have road tax d/d cancelled (& put back into acct)[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Cancel insurance[/STRIKE] (£3 refund due now :p)
    • [STRIKE]Arrange for scrappies to uplift car[/STRIKE] - £100 offered so can't complain
    • [STRIKE]Empty car of all [STRIKE]junk[/STRIKE] treasures[/STRIKE]
    • Siphon off £40 of diesel put in car yesterday
    • [STRIKE]Check times of buses for DH to get to big city for a meeting tomorrow[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Await parts for other car in garage for MOT[/STRIKE]
    • Take said parts to garage to allow car to be fixed
    • Not a NSD as needed a coffee for a heat whilst waiting for 4 hours to be brought home
On the upside - DH is on holiday next week when we will have 1 car back on the road (we live rurally & cars are almost a necessity).

    Then chill......:o

Hope you all have a good day :D

    Hi,
Not a lot of moneysaving things today as my job list was full of local political stuff that I'm involved with plus I have a meeting tonight so not much me-time today. Anyway:
    *NSD
*Did the cheapest basket of ironing ever. Looked like loads but once I'd sorted all the non-ironables, oh joy! Was left with 1 top & a shirt.
    *Did a couple of surveys.
*Wrote a letter & used recycled envelope.
*Sorted thru a big pile of paperwork which resulted in 2 free resources - a stack of clean-on-one-side A4 paper for the printer & a big pile for shredding, which will be used in our worm composter.
*Made a big low-fat canneloni - enough for freezing for another meal.....though how it's going to fit in there remains to be seen.
*Washed hair & let it dry naturally.....tho I will have to fling the straighteners at it before I go out to look less witchy.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch & breakfast.
*Make a list of jobs I can usefully do out & about tomorrow as it's my car day.
*Email from Body Shop to tell me I have another £5 loyalty voucher so must log in & make a note of the expiry date.
Ok, got to sort out these cavewoman tresses,
    Love f x

  • Hi everyone :D
Sorry for being awol a couple of days. Busy end to the month with naughty tortie getting ill again (I feel your pain Happykitties) - she cost £134 this time and I'm hoping no more. Then various kids activities (swimming and football). On top of that I'm struggling with a sore throat and cough so it's been lots of early nights and not a lot else.
    Today I have managed to:
get a nsd (not counting dd's)
    PAD
    read Martin's email
Batch cook a load of butternut squash soup from 3 packs of mix that I got for 9p each
Look up how to cook my dried kidney beans
    Plan next week's lessons
I'm exhausted but feeling pretty much ok. Another early night coming up though for sure. I've gotten into watching something on Netflix which is encouraging me into bed before 9pm every night to watch another episode...

    - stopped by Asda and got a YS pizza.
    - FPL
    - Read Martin's email. Must remember to speak to DH about Virgin Media as an alternative to Sky and Holland and Barratt discount.
    - Check Magic Freebies
That's all for me, LP x

Look what are you watching Cat? We've been watching an Icelandic thriller in the style of The Killing. It's great.

Clootiesmum sorry about the car. Not what you needed I'm sure.

  • What a day. Felt really sad about the situation with a family member who is poorly and it all got on top of me a bit.

This is DHs worst time of year for his business. I save and plan for this but its always a bit of a worry. The good news is that I have done extra hours in job no. 2 which will help. The bad news is that we have a customer dragging his heels over paying a bill. The bill is only £137 but we need it. This customer has a nice house and 2 flashy cars which irritates me.

Anyway. Fed everyone with some ys pork loin steaks tonight and concocted a peppercorn sauce. Went down well. We dont often have things like pork loin steaks or whole chicken breasts because you need so much to feed us all - meat here tends to be cut up into tiny pieces and immersed in lots of sauce. Felt like a treat.

Heating is on full blast because I am feeling a bit sorry for myself and I just dont care!

    Hi all,

Clootes - sounds like a nightmare! I hope it hasn't upset you too much and you are warm and toasty again!

I am always amazed at how much you guys get done...motivating me to do better.

Today I did all the usual and survey experiment still going strong.

I got some bad news about a grant I was relying on - only awarded 1/3 - which I know is better than nothing and its not like I am owed anything at all but things are going to be tighter than expected. Wish the woman I handed my application to had not made me feel like it was certain. I can appeal so I will, but until then I am punching a new hole in the belt to pull it in tighter. Trying hard not to worry, almost cried when I found out.

Anyway, reading the posts on here always makes me feel I can do this. And in April it will get better so chin up, smile and move forward. :)
Happiness is wanting what you have...
  • YORKSHIRELASS-I hope the poorly member of your family gets better soon and I hope you get the monies u are owed soon.

FatVonD-I could happily eat my body weight in cake at the minute! I'm trying to do sugar free Feb, but fell at the first hurdle being enticed by some chocolate fingers (double pack boxes had been reduced to 62p-had bought 3 boxes for my daughter of course:D). By mid morning I'm sure they were calling my name:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Many thanks to everyone who took the time to post about my mum's cat. We 've found out that we can get a third of his costs tomorrow paid by the RSPCA.
It's amazing the crossover in animal and health treatment (one of my cats and my niece are both on the same blood pressure tablets) and being an amputee with spinal damage I tend to ask an awful lot of questions( have had one of my cats on tramadol and gabapentin before now aswell) and amputation was one of my main questions, because I think he would do well as a tripod.
Unfortunately the way his case has presented, , if it is a tumour 98 cases out of 100 it will be cancerous and will have already spread.
By tomorrow night we will have some definite answers but if it is the worst, it will break my mums heart. I think at 72, having 3 extremely demanding boy cats has kept her physically active the amount of running around she does after them. She is without a doubt the servant in that house:o

Had the last of the leftover Christmas turkey with YS veg tonight. I've got 6 cats and nearly didn't see my turkey, a raid was undertaken by the diva of the house.

Not a lot done today, went out to get some books my daughter wanted for her birthday, couldn't find them but picked up a couple of books reduced to a £1 and I got her a couple more to put away for Christmas. Also bought a reduced Christmas activity set for my cousin's daughter-saved £8 so very happy with that even though money was taken out of the birthday pot.

Feb budgets all prepared and raring to go, usually I like Jan but this year I'm glad to see the back of it. Just need to get rid of the awful rain and windy weather at the minute.
    Take care everyone x
