What small DFW things will you do this week? w/c 30/01

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Morning guys
been up a while reading the boards so thought I'd start us off rather than waiting for someone else!
Madam feel asleep last night at 6 and didn't have any dinner so woke up at 5.30 hungry - poor thing. so she had double round of toast and a hot choc. Now she's tidying her room!
[STRIKE]Need to make lunches for oh & madam.[/STRIKE] will cook some rice and oh can have half of the giganti plaki made yesterday
[STRIKE]get ys meatballs out of freezer for dinner [/STRIKE]and will have with ys sweet potato spaghetti
go for a run, do some masters research, [STRIKE]load of washing [/STRIKE]and vacuuming
Might even go to the cinema today. It's only £2.50 for a weekday day time seat. If I don't find some leisure activity at home. Now thinking today would be a good day to visit the allotment. Haven't been for so long! oooo am also thinking a trip to the swimming pool/sauna would be good also!
[STRIKE]check banks and remind oh to pay his housekeeping.[/STRIKE]
wearing onesie at home (which is unbelievably hot!) instead of heating on
Looking at the weather it's not going to be an allotment day. Think I will pop into town and get my godson his birthday gift. I saw some things on sale last week that I thought he would like so will grab one of them if they're still there. Will park in free parking and walk in
That'll do! Have a great day guys x

Morning all
Thanks for starting us off for the week DNMS
Today's list:
Washed hair and let dry naturally
Cheapie porridge breakfast
Plenty of food in, so no shopping, minimal cookingJacket potatoes only cooked
HM soup for lunch, only me here for lunch today Done, another portion for tomorrow and that will be the end of the Enormous Pumpkin (amall GD's terminology)
Use up salad stuff for dinner Used up some salad leaves, cucumber and tomatoes which really needed going, plus other things
RM surveys tasks to sort out for the week Done
Check banks One done, still to do the other with the code generator fiddly thing
Check for surveys Two or three for onepoll
5 ebay parcels to postDone, sold 2 more items
Go to sales unit while out, will need to take car due to size / weight of today's parcels which don't lend themselves to a walk of a mile or more! Done, quick tidy, added 1 item
Dog walks x 2 Done
Put away dry washing Done
Put away spare duvet (didn't do this yesterday) Not done it today either, or not yet
Ebay listings, if the light improves for photos (horrible dark wet day) Prepared a few listings, but discovered that I have used the allowance included in my shop subscription for this month (this also includes relistings). Don't want to pay extra, so will complete these listings on 1 Feb
Do something with small, not very pleasant apples in the fruit bowl which aren't going to get eaten otherwise! Fiddly job, but I ain't wasting them, and they will be fine in a pie or crumbleOops not done this either -one for tomorrow now I think
OH and I took DS's dog to the vets as I thought he might have fleas  (he did) and kept shaking his ears. Turns out the poor thing has a nasty ear infection, so now has tablets, ear drops etc. And I have a vets bill of £127 and countingDS has been through a very difficult time and is now trying to get to grips with a challenging new job, so I will sort this... but will make it clear that he must take full responsibility for his dog going forward. I don't even like the dog very much (though OH does) as he is as strong as a horse, virtually untrained and wilful, though he is good natured enough. However, I will not have an animal in my house suffer
so in my view it is absolutely a necessary expense. I will just need to sell more tat on ebay :rotfl:

Morning all,
Nice to see the hive of activity!
The weekend saw me manage to actually do a food shop without blowing my budget and chasing the offer that wasn't originally applied at the checkout - I had you guys in my head thinking they wouldn't stand for it and resulted in £1.80 refund! I also made sure I used my card for all the discounts available which again is something I usually don't take the time to do.
Today:
*Plenty of work to do so must get on in a bit
*Eating from stores/meal plan and take snacks with me
*Keep heating down low
*NSD - planning quite a few this week as did a very conscious shop yesterday
*Washing mountain needs tackling
I am currently obsessed with my SOA, snowballing and budget and very happy to know where everything is and how much I have(and more importantly don't have) for various things. Totally geeking out and loving it!
Have a fantastic Monday!Happiness is wanting what you have...0 -

I've just discovered (after an entire year) how to connect to the wireless network at work on my phone :j Extremely simple, just wasnt the way I thought.
Only prompted to look as my data just ran out:rotfl: don't know whether i'm just on the internet more, or whether things just eat up more data, but 1gb a month used to be plenty and now I often run out in advance... fortunately it renews tomorrow...

Hi everyone, thanks for starting DNMS
Hugs Ziggy
I'm all set up for a frugal week after a not-so-great January. February budget is up and running after pay-day last Friday. Have withdrawn food money and stashed away in an envelope.
NSD today and all meals from stores. Soup for lunch and hubby made a lemon drizzle cake yesterday so I'm looking forward to having that when I get home at 7.15pm!
Lots to do at work. I was at a conference in Aberdeen last week so getting back to normal after what felt like a little holiday. I have to write an article about my trip so will be nice to review what I learnt. I need to chase my expenses as I paid for attendance up-front out of my holiday pot!
FPL/ surveys (cash out a voucher)
Have moved money around into various pots. House deposit pot is up to £4,000 which is amazing!!!
Chase prospect of more extra hours at work. I should be able to earn an extra £1500 take-home pay over three months if they say yes!
Look into swopping my current account/ H2B ISA. Any tips? Have been with HSBC for nearly 14 years since I was a student and have had enough! Various problems over the last few months and the fact they have stopped 24-hour telephone banking unless you have Advance/ Premier accounts is the final straw.
Ironing to do tonight
Read my book before bed and try to relax, not sleeping well at the minute
